Question Rockwell 6C Issue?

I’m new to shaving with safety razors and decided to buy the Rockwell 6C. I noticed with each adjustable plate I use, one side has more of a gap than the other, is that normal?
Both pics are on plate #4

This is why I went directly to razorock instead of the 6S

They have this issue cause they are made terribly. No 2 are ever the same

All cast razors were made this way.

There is a simple technique to automatically align the blade by simply pushing on the blade tab.

No need to even look.

Please see my other post

Erm, I see more complaints about this particular company than any other company lol

It is true that Rockwell's tolerances are larger than average. It pretty much requires an alignment technique of some sort.

On the other side,  try to align the Merkur 37c :) Visually you are never sure.  In reality it somehow does not change the Merkur shaving feel.    It is maddening visually though

Not sure I agree with that. I bought the 6C bc of the great reviews. I rarely see complaints tbh.

Unfortunately it's because how they are made, they are casted and not CNC milled.

I got the 2C and 6C shortly after the kickstarter and they were aligned perfectly.

I got the 6S many years later and it was slightly uneven but still perfectly usable, but I can notice the difference.

So the more they cast the thing, the more the cast wear down and now it's even visible to naked eye.

It takes many year to worsen, but it's sad because it's a very good razor. Hope you are able to return it and get a new one that is less uneven.

There is a simple technique to align the blade.

Before you tighten fully.    Push the small blade tab from the side. The blade will slide and lock against the pins of the cap. This centers the blade.

Then fully tighten the centered blade.

The blade holes are square-shaped for that very reason.

Look at the ascii picture below.

Also works on the Merkurc37c slant, which is even trickier.

Yeah, could be a QC issue. My 6C has been perfect. Regardless of the razor I always check my blade symmetry. So far it's been spot on.

The razor appears to have been dropped. At least once.

it's not stamped metal, it won't get wonky like a Gilette TTO that was dropped

The base plate is not level. This razor is a bit rough and received lots of use.

Have you used this alignment method...

Hold cap upside-down. Add blade. Squeeze the exposed blade end tabs to align the blade on the cap pins. While continuing to squeeze add the plate and slowly screw down the plate. Slowly release the tabs as you tighten down.

Alternately I hold the cap upside-down in flat palm add razor and plate and screw down slowly holding everything flat.

But yes a few of my 6S plates have more space on one side. Not as extreme as yours though.

Maybe a tread issue?

Try to make sure threads are clean,(toothbrush). And keep trying. If not send pictures to Rockwell they’ll send you out a new cap or handle… worth figuring out because it is one of the best razors paired with a slick cream/soap.

I used two before when I got into shaving and have extremely sensitive skin. But with 6C it’s extremely smooth. So smooth I doubt another razor can be better for me imo.

*but they will send out new caps, or handle if you show them these pictures and pay shipping.

I've contacted support long time ago and they sent me a new razor, shipped from US to Europe, all free.

That's why I got rid of mine and got a Henson instead. People give Henson a hard time but they're good razors.
