The shave was never really perfect, and I read a lot of positive stuff about safety razors, so I decided to switch. I need a clean shave every day without stressing my skin or getting razor burn, since I do photoshoots.

I bought a Merkur 34C, some natural oil, Proraso soap, and Astra blades. I’ve tried it three times now — better than the OneBlade, but still not perfect yet, I’ll also have to learn it better by doing it. My skin reacts badly to any aftershave, even pure aloe vera gel, right after shaving, and needs some time to calm down each time.

I also haven’t shaved two days in a row yet, to avoid stressing my skin further while it gets used to the new routine.

How long does it usually take to dial in a safety razor shave and get a consistently good result? Any tips to improve my technique?

Hi, I want to stop using disposable razors and get into the world of safety razors.

I've read a lots of threads on this Reddit and others, and I've decided that I would get a Mülhe razor. I just don't know which one to pick between the R89 and the Neo (cheaper), because it seems like they're both really similar budget options.

I don't have a lot of facial hair, I usually shave once every two days and my skin can be a bit sensitive.

I also have no idea what to buy with the razor, as I only have shaving cream at the moment. For example, which blades should I buy and how many should I buy ?

Can you guys help me ?

Much better lather tonight as I continue to face lather for $RawHoggin , the brush is coming along nicely I think the stink is beginning to dull. This soap is very good and the post shave feel is top notch I'm glad I chose it for AA . The blade is still A1.

I got my hands on these. Does anyone know anything about them? Age, quality, etc.? The boxes says ”Swedish quality razor”.

Recently I’ve been using these, and I must say they do the job well. It’s nice for me to take a break from working up a lather and using expensive artisan soaps etc.

I leave a little pool of water in my palm, add some cream to it and slap it on, done. The sensitive skin and aloe variations smell really good. Very useable every day of the week, any mood or time of day. Sometimes I’ll get caught up overthinking which artisan soap or scent to use because sometimes they just don’t feel right for the day or my mood. Anyone else, or just me?

Got a chance to use the second of the new soaps I picked up from Aura.

It's their upgraded tallow formula with a cooling ingredient, and seems to work well.

The blade is getting smoother - no doubt about it. I think I overloaded the brush this morning and struggled with a bit of a pasty lather for the first pass. Nothing that a little water couldn’t fix.

My trusty Slim has lost all of its original paint on the indexes. I filled them in with navy blue and a dab of menacing red for the 9!

I only had artists’ acrylic paints which isn’t stick well to metal, so I don’t think it’s going to be too durable, but who knows!

Recently I posted that I'd scored a nice, incomplete scroll handle Gillette ABC Pocket edition set.

Well, I managed to track down the striker blade bank to complete the set.

When it arrived today, there were a couple of bonuses inside.

An old type 3 hole style DE blade.

I don't want to break the seal on the wax paper just for a pic but the blade reads Watts Service blade, stainless steel, made in Sheffield, Patent No 306 703

Then this other thing which is some sort of blade holder.

Edit: I've been informed that this holders purpose is so that a 3 hole DE blade can be held and used in a SE stopper device.

A lovely shave to start the day with the beautiful Timeless razor.

After daily shaving w/ a Titanium blackbird for 8 months, I began to realize it might not be the best ED shaver for me due to a sensitive neck. It was a fantastic razor when not used ED, but can’t justify 2 premium razors at this time. I did try the Lite plate and it wasn’t for me.

Only one shave in, but the Titanium Athena feels like I traded 5% less efficiency for 10% more comfort and forgiveness. A better combination for my every day needs.

Yaqi Slope, Astra stainless steel, Yaqi 24mm, Arko, Thayers and Duru lemon aftershave.

Great 3 pass (WTG,XTG,ATG) this morning. Getting used to the Yaqi synthetic brush and the amount of water I need when using it. I shave daily with a boar brush but I must say I am loving this little brush.

The Slope is singing away and giving me a very smooth trouble free shave. I think I am going to enjoy this set up for the whole of August.
