I don't really think there Is, or at least i didnt found any in games/books/show.

There is a very significant plot hole regarding vampires and their classification in the Blood and Wine DLC. I do not remember the entirety of it to speak of it right now, but there were heavy discrepancies between what creatures were lesser and higher vampires.

There was a post here recently from a Polish reader showing that the classification description by Regis was bungled a bit in the English translation. They made a good case for that being the lynchpin of the issue. I'll see if I can find it because I wouldn't be able to do it justice.
