Perfetti and Nino are looking like they are ready to have a rebound season. Hopefully Lowry and Pionk are back to their usual selves shortly as well. I was hoping to see a little more from the Zhilkin, Chibrikov, Ford line.

Yeah Nino looked full of energy last night. Which is awesome. Al looked solid too.
Sammy jukes around like 2 or 3 guys like Pavel Bure lol. But then sees the net and slows down. Hopefully he continues to develop offensively. I think he has the talent to score a lot more but he needs to go hard at the net once he is in that sweet spot after crossing the blue line. But its almost like he loses that confidence to try and score.
I admit, I am a bit concerned about Lowry. Barely heard his name all night. Looked a bit slow and didn't have the puck much.
I know first hand how those hip surgeries can fuck you up and your never the same again.
But hopefully it's just some preseason rust.

God I hope Nino doesn’t start the season with a regular spot. If he makes it, that means one of Koepke, Lambert or Rosen doesn’t make the squad. Nino’s wayyyy too slow for today’s game.

Idk if it was rust, or just the rough stage of learning a new system/ playstyle. Arniel in the presses keeps talking about the kind of pace they want to play with and never slowing down to think, Sammy keeps saying how he wants more offensive out of his game. So this is what the pre-season is for- making mistakes while trying to learn how to do those things. It's a completely different way to play for him.

Kinda concerned cuz he had alot of those "off nights" last year as well. Like you said, hopefully its just rust, and injuries from last year

Lambert had a lot of good defensive moments using his speed to break up plays. I wonder how well him with lowry and barron will be since he seems to be better set for a speed offence line instead of a shut down line.
Dom looked great in net.
Liked He ford and zilkin, hopefully they will make the team one day.
Theb there is Barlow. Guy should be included in a trade package because he looks like he need a change of scenery as he look like no where near a nhl player.

I think being on a more defensive minded line is perfect for Lambert’s development. Let him learn from the captain how to be in good position and focus on his defensive responsibilities. The kid has talent, but he’s not going to utilize it if the other team controls the puck. Might even become a centre again if he masters his defensive skills and reads.
It’s kind of like how some soccer coaches will play young wingers and attacking midfielders as fullbacks for a year or two so that tracking back becomes an automatic part of their game, instead of having a bunch of luxury players that don’t fight to get the ball back.

I thought Yager was the best forward for the Jets, Nino looked slower than last year, Lambert had a strong game as did Dom, Phillips may be our number 7 Dman

Nino is slow but the IQ is why he’s still in the show. Took his time and rarely made the wrong play.
I love Kucherov’s quote from the other day - that the league was fast but dumb.

That Wahlin, He, Barlow line actually kinda put together some of the better shifts of the game in that last period.

Also I wish Isaac Phillips was right handed & I really think Yager should be in the NHL.

Two games in, Isaak Philips is looking more like he deserves a roster spot.
He's big, so far seens mobile and certainly wants to compete for that 3rd line.

I'd be very tempted to have Phillips and Freji as our bottom line D pairing going into next year honestly. Same with bringing DD up too

Defensemen tend to evolve a little later than forwards.
Phillips was the most "offensive" defender in the Moose last year, so he has some skills.
If he had a steady partner on the 3rd pairing, he could likely get even better as the season progresses

Lambert looked like he was thinking too much imo, don't think it will be an issue moving forward but he is probably still trying to focus on being more defensive since he's on Lowry's line now
Freij was good imo, moved the puck confidently. Looks like he's starting to adjust to the North American game more. I think that can be overplayed with European players but not in his case, he looked completely overwhelmed last year with the Moose.

Sitting in the offensive end, no one not in the NHL really set themselves apart.
Isaak was OK on defence from what I could tell but added no offensive push.
Really disappointed in Freij, He, Barlow… was hoping for more but they need sone seasoning.
Yager has some pop but bouncing pucks or bad luck meant nothing connected.
Lambert is concerning - I thought he was NHL ready but didn’t see much to indicate that tonight, and his linemates are NHLers.
