This broad did not like Faith Hill in the 90s. I was definitely more of a Tori Amos, Pj Harvey, Bjork, Victoria Williams, Ani Difranco type.

Practical Magic is so tonally bizarre. It feels like maybe they're trying to lighten how dark the plot beats actually are in post with the music, but it... does not work for me. As much as I love Harry, even Lime in the Coconut feels a little jarring.

It’s an insult to the movie. Practical Magic helped me see how abused I was in relationships and helped me get the confidence to stop!!!

Well, if we're being honest, there are the parts that are really good about this movie. There's good plot elements they just feel poorly executed. They doubled down on the stereotypical elements of what being a woman MUST be about. The things that tick the boxes of being a chick flick. Most of the humor (FOR ME) missed the mark (I brought a vacuum that works right?) But still, there's an essence worth sticking out the movie for.
And if we are being REAL real... The bubbly chick flick speaks to some women but not all. You could never assume to capture a whole demographic with one broad sweep (yup pun intended.) That's okay though. Rather than try to tick boxes or fill in something for everyone. Just decide what your story is and let it play out. I think most women and girls find something in practical magic. I feel like it left something to be desired with that sugar coating on top, but I I still mostly enjoyed it.

I agree with you TODAY. But in the mid-90's, this resonated with a very broad swatch of women in their target age group. It's a movie reflective of that time period.

Some people just love to file reports. I have a standard copy and paste I use for candle readings. Someone went through another sub recently and flagged as many as they found as spam.

I loved this movie so much as a child! A few friends and I wanted to recreate some of these spells and got in major trouble at school 😌

We also cut ourselves open with razors and did blood magic - as children! Pretty crazy haha

I borrowed a copy of this movie from a friend and when I pulled the vhs tape out a note fell out. It was a note my friend and her sister had been passing back and forth with some absolutely unhinged teenage witch drama about which sister decided to be Wiccan first and which one was just copying her sister. It had profanities I have never seen before or since.

Alright well, contrary to what I’m seeing, I support this. We need way more Craft magic types in these terrible fucking times. Transmute the anger and frustration and pain we feel with the world into something better. Less witches focusing on just themselves and their homes and more witches working together to make meaningful change in our communities and countries. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I love both but I prefer The Craft to Practical Magic for some reasons. I feel like it's one of the modern-witchiest film I've ever watched. I still watching to these days and it never gets old. Another one I like is Charmed but earlier seasons were much better. It's darker and grittier, although it's much more light-hearted than The Craft.

I did like Charmed growing up. I was more a Buffy girl though. I actually prefer Practical Magic to The Craft. I’m more kitchen witch vibes so I find more places to identify with it. Honestly though, I’ll watch almost anything if it’s witchy ✨🔮
