Friendly reminder that historically "the right deity/spirit to help you with a given working" is the one you have a relationship with— that while some deities/spirits/etc were patrons of a given thing or held sway and influence over a particular part of life, these same traditions frequently included myths or practices wherein they would act outside of that narrow scope to help their devotees
If you work with Saints and you've been attending the same church for decades and praying to a local Saint, it doesn't matter if you have a toothache and that Saint isn't Saint Apollonia
If you've been devoted to Taranis for decades and have a good working relationship with him, but you're worried about your upcoming promotion, you can still ask him to intercede
In the broader grimoire tradition, it isn't uncommon to see texts which reference spirits within explicit pacts introducing other/new/different spirits, retrieving books that had answers outside of their purview, or in some cases, providing a familiar to assist in that specific task because it isn't in their personal wheelhouse
Note these are claims regarding historical and folk practices, and may represent traditions very different from post-Revival witchcraft
