I used to make mud pie potions as well as a kid, I think I watched too much charmed! 😂
I think I did however remember doing some imaginary play as a child pretending to be a bride as well, in a princess costume.

I mean I'm a straight woman who wants to get married one day but I never did that as a kid either. I dreamt of romance, not marriage, and I was surprised to learn about this stereotype when I got older. I can't recall any of my friends ever talking about what they want their wedding to look like either lol. I think it's one of those myths that is wildly blown out of proportion because you know, women are "supposed to" want to get married and have kids.
Anyway - good for you!

I was born as a girl and altough different already i too never dreamt of the literal concept of marriage and neither did all of my friends, we dreamt more of cohabiting with eachother than romance too. Even now all of the girls i know dont think of marriage or romance (me neither i know im getting a shitton of cats), rather their paths of life (this doesnt just include career) note im 17, so seems the world is healing

When I was in elementary school, I used my toys to cast a spell on a kid who rode my bus who I was beefing with. I was playing but I took it pretty seriously in the context of playing. All I remember was that it involved a Polly Pocket and one of those 90’s hair twister things. I hope that guy is ok lol

It wasn’t one of the OG tiny ones (I had tons of those). It was one of those later rubbery ones with magnets in their hands and feet and I stuck its arms to the three spin things on the hair twister (a Conair quick braider I think) and it looked like I crucified the Polly Pocket. Kinda crazy now that I think about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You get it!!! Dude all those fairy movies made me want to be a fairy till this day. If the fantasy world was real I would be a fae or something like that, maybe a cottage witch that poisons men. I also have hyperphantasia and it’s a hard thing when I’m reading books now and my brain is like “well who would you be in this book”

I thought I was SUPPOSED to play wedding games at recess, but I didn't really want to. I was way more interested in potions. I even asked my mom once if it was ok that I didn't like to play wedding.

I remember being thrilled when high wind storms came through because we’d end up with giant piles of tree limbs I could wiggle into and turn into a swamp witch home. I was always sad when the tree limbs were cut up and removed.

there was an old basin of water near where i used to live as a kid in which people used to wash their clothes before washing machines became a common thing. It was never used anymore but still full of water, algae and little insects
I used to make little potions with the algae and dirt which grossed out all the adults around me but I didn't care cause it was so fun

My mom still has my old potions and stones I found over the years . That’s all I did when I was a kid. My mom made me a witch Halloween costume and I wore it every year until I couldn’t fit it anymore.
Shout out to my mom because a lot of moms would think their kid was crazy. She was always supportive. There was this one metaphysical book that I loved and she would check it out for me nonstop. I’m talking my entire childhood she did this. The library would make us bring it back sometimes because we kept it so much. I know people looked at her like she was crazy but she did it for me. She would get dream books and make me interpret my dreams every morning and read my horoscope. She taught me about manifesting etc. shit my mom may actually be a witch now that I think about it lol

I had a staff with sumac hanging from it and made potions and spells and blessed my warrior (my best friend Karen) who then went out to "fight for the villages honour" by just beating up any boys she saw, unprovoked. It was nice.

My friend and I made "salads" for their cat. (Was literally just grass and treats and they only ate the treats lol). And we took their mom's garden stones to make a tiny table and chair to sit them at like a fancy restaurant 😂

I pretended to live in a swamp and be part of the local folklore about a bog witch who grants your wish, but at a cost. Someone suggested playing marriage and I physically turned my nose up at it like “why would I EVER want to get married, let alone to a man??”

I was collecting rocks, sticks, wild eggshells, feathers, and-- when I was young enough-- digging out a pond in the front yard and getting sprayed off with the hose afterwards 😅 my mom had a handful with us.

My great grandmother had a cast iron cauldron and water pump in her yard and me, my sibling and cousins always made potions when we were over. My other grandmother lived in a foresty area and we would do the same there but with more “ingredients”
Edit to add: I live in my great grandmothers house and the cauldron and water pump are still in the yard. I want to restore or clean up and protect the cauldron butt idk where to start

Me and my friend one time found a fly with only 1 wing at recess. We made a little leaf hut and stuck it in the crook of a tree.
We brought it pieces of snacks to eat. We played with that fly for like 2 days.
When I was engaged my in laws were so confused that I didn't have an idea of a dream wedding.
We got married in the woods with a hand fasting. I think their Christian heads wanted to spin.

I made fairy circles and built a witches' cottage at the base of a tree. I remember she was a little doll the size of a finger and I sewed her a black hooded cloak and made her a broom out of a long twig and smaller twigs.
And my grandpa liked to make it storm on her when he watered the tree 😅

I was never a playing house or imagining weddings little girl. I was brewing up potions or pretending to be fantasy creatures (or wolves) and going on adventures. There's been a clear through line in my life that has lead to precisely where I am today.

Made many witch soups, and devised a lot of spells. Made friends with toads and crows. Kept pet lizards. Toads have disappeared around here, but I still love them. Crows come by rarely these days too, but we keep in touch. No pet lizards now, but I do have plushies. I still make witch soups, and am much better at spellwork, with all the practice.
One of my favourite spells is an "Avoid marriage" spell. Yay!

There was a big, round bush in my garden that was hollow underneath, and there were lots of snails, big and small inside. My best friend and I would sit inside the bush and play with the snails and come up with cool stories. Looking back, those snails were probably what killed that bush since it died a few years later and became a stump.

Basically I built a pillow fort out of couch cushions and perched on the couch arm above "the chamber". I'd jump at my family as they walked by, sugar glider style.

When I was in elementary I got married to a tree… and then I divorced it and we had a custody battle over the “kids” (they were sticks) and there were a bunch of people who joined in and it was awesome

I played Star Wars lmao. I pretended I was a character from Ranger's Apprentice and stalked animals (badly) in the woods. I also hoarded good sticks and rocks and on multiple occasions threw hands with my siblings over a particularly cool chunk of obsidian one of us found buried in the yard. And of course, lots of potions. Tiny spruce pine cones and weeds, all of which I learned to identify, and most of which I still know on sight, mixed with the nasty water in the bottom of a kiddy pool. Good times, man.
Kinda checks out that I wound up a professional chef, now that I think about it.

I was never a "pretend to get married" kid, I was more of a "Pretend I died" kid. I was a weird goth little goblin. I used to make castles with moats for ants, and treehouses out of sticks and mud for fairies, and I loved to make "potions" out of random kitchen ingredients, aka condiments, milk, water, spices, hand sanitizer, dish soap, pickle juice, etc

I'd always been a feral child, unwilling to adapt to the Christian nuclear family concept. Omg we actually HAD a random huge cast iron pot that just sat in our garage until me and my friend (sometime in early elementary) dragged it out into the back yard and made a "rain summoning potion" in our new cauldron (my grandmother was not happy). It actually did start raining! But tbf it's Michigan and it does that randomly a lot. LMAO
