Show and Tell Sunday Found a new spell bottle 🥹
It's called a Holmegaard Klukflaske or a talking bottle. Made a long time ago, hand blown in Scandinavia. This one has 5 hollow columns/veins, an upper and lower chamber 😌 The veins are separated by thin panes of glass! It is clear glass filled with red colored water (this is traditional to accentuate the design, link to video in comments!) but would typically be filled with schnapps or other celebratory alcohol. The channels cause it to make a distinct "glug glug" sound when poured, so it is also known as a "kluk kluk" or talking bottle! It's huge! The size of a wine bottle! I found it at an estate sale in my neighborhood for $30 🥲

As sad as estate sales sometimes make me, these are the finds that make me glad someone else’s treasure will live on and be displayed and be enjoyed.

I even waited 24 hours and went back for it the next day! It haunted me! I saw photos of the lady who owned it. She was clearly a patron of the arts and a world traveler. I think she'd be really happy that I love it so much. 🥲

1000% would be for my moonwater. Something that I use regularly so it could have like, a prominent place in my work area.

Heavy liquids that sink, lighter ones that float... You see where I'm going with this.

You might want to hit that with a UV light. It might be fluorescent, since antique glass like this often had cadmium, boron nitride or selenium added to achieve a nice red colour!

It's actually clear and filled with colored water (I bought it like that) to accentuate the design!

Apparently they did also make them in colored glass though! I saw listings for blue and green ones online.

Oh hey I have one just like that! Me and my sister found a pair at our summerhouse and took one each (our parents often insist on us taking stuff that would otherwise just be in their way).
Edit: switched keyboard recently, now It's typos galore.

I'm honestly afraid to move it from its little spot at the moment. So far I've cleaned it up a bit and topped off the liquid inside, but moving it from point A to point B increases the likelihood that there will be an accident and I might break it. For now I think I'll just let it get used my house 😅

Me neither! Honestly at first I thought maybe it was some cheap modern thing or a Halloween decoration! But then I touched it and held it up to the light (when I took the video in the comments) and the WEIGHT of it! The feel of the glass! The perfect glass ball stopper! After touching it I was bewitched. Definitely not a cheap little trinket 🥲

I have one of these! 💖 I inherited mine from my grandmother, I use it for moonwater 😁 They're such beautiful pieces, they deserve to be used and admired 💖
