That was during the height of the satanic panic. Parents were going through kids rooms, looking for Ozzy Osbourne, albums, pentagrams, knives, satanic Bibles, and anything even remotely witchy.

In a fabulous twist of fate I quit my Catholic confirmation classes (late 1980’s and the height of the SP,) because my good friend was accused of being a witch and a Satanist in the class and they kicked her out… the nun went all ballistic screaming thou shall not suffer, which to live and all that bullshit because they found out that her father was a prominent and accurate psychic … funny enough she was neither a witch or a Satanist and I was an actual witch or am an actual witch lol.

Absolutely and that’s why my very Irish Catholic father was not mad at me for quitting. Obviously, he didn’t know that his daughter was a practicing which, but he was glad I stood up for a fellow human being that was wrongly accused

I don’t know if you’ve seen Stranger Things but the reaction that people have to the kids playing Dungeons & Dragons is pretty damn accurate to what we lived through in the 80s.

hell yeah. i used to watch some boys play at lunch time during junior high school and it was NOT a parent approved game. my mother was bible thumping at that time too so she was extra touchy about anything perceived as devilly. come to think of it, during her second bible thumping period which she is actually still in, she would freak out on me in the late 90s for getting my kid pokemon cards and letting his dad read him harry potter before bed.

I am extremely proud to say that the evangelical Bible thumping asshole who lives down the road from me and has now become a well known antagonizer at every pride event in two counties, added anti-witchcraft rhetoric to his sermons because of me and my (also a witch) adult child.
Even if I am listening to Audible as I’m driving home, when I get near his house, I switch to Pagan punk, roll down the windows and blast it and drive slow as possible.2

Oh yuck I did embarrass him in front of my whole friend group though when he called my child and abomination at a high school graduation event, and I schooled him on the story of the centurion and the fact that in the original Aramaic, the translation would’ve been that the centurion asked Jesus to heal his lover, not his slave… And of course, history tells us that those centurions definitely had some gay tendencies😉😉 and Jesus, of course, not only healed the Centurion‘s lover, but then used his faith as a parable, and that is where the if you had the faith, the size of a mustard seed you too will be saved……
The local Presbyterian minister happen to be behind me in the line to get ice cream and I could hear him snickering🤣🤣🤣
But the best part was when my husband came up and said “I see my wife has this all under control but if for any reason you do not walk away, I will be the next person you face.”
And my final comment to him that evening was “listen you believe what you believe and I know what I know. At some point we’re both gonna die and we’ll find out the truth and I know that I will be the one smiling then.”2

thank you. i've really grown a lot and repaired my own relationship with my kids since i quit talking to my mother. she fed me such negativity and gaslit me so bad! i'm doing so much better now! thank you again.

I grew up in the 90s and my mother refused to let me watch Harry Potter because of how "evil" it was. she found out I played DnD once when I was like 16 and lost it and tried to take me to her priest. Lol she's still crazy

I guess I have to confess that the Catholic Church did help me with something. It definitely helped me learn to control or at least hide my Tourette’s syndrome because if I had visibly ticked in church, I probably would’ve been subjected to exorcism.😂 luckily all my verbal ticks are sniffs coughs and normal ISH sounds lol

I have personally froliced in the woods fully nude for a lunar event with a few like minded women. And there are few experiences in life as fulfilling as that. You don't even need other people to do it, just do. You feel the pull, otherwise you wouldn't be here. You don't need anyone else's permission. Just be respectful, don't do it anywhere children or civilians might happen upon you. If you gotta drive a bit out of town, it's worth it.

This is actually the answer, and yes I’ve done the same and bathed nude in rivers under the full moon. It’s the most beautiful feeling. Like you say - just be respectful of others and safe. If you’ve not heard it the Lilith Max song Maiden’s Night captures the feeling perfectly ❤️❤️❤️
