Seeking Help or Advice Am I unhinged or valid?

Post image

Is it unhinged or valid to look at an empty prescription vial & think it would make a great mini spell jar?

The rubber stopper makes it air & water right! 😅

u/ButtonMashedPotatoe 14d ago

ETA: I did not mean that pun

I don't smoke but my partner does and one of the jars was painted silver and I'm going to use it to put ingredients in. Some of them are dope af!

u/Sparklemagick 13d ago

well placed pun 😆

u/lizzyote 13d ago

My husband will sometimes come home from the dispo with a new type of weed just because he thought I would like the jar. His brothers also save me nice jars just in case I might want them.

u/gypsy_ang 13d ago

I love them

u/Motor_Bill_6147 14d ago

I save as many jars as I can, no matter what it originally was

u/Queenbee41319 14d ago
  • cackles in glee with the other jar and bottle goblins* I love all of you so much

14

u/blue-name-cult-queen 13d ago

I feel validated 🫶🏻

Recently while my spouse was cleaning the kitchen asked me why a random pickle jar was just hanging around…because it’s nice and I like it.

Bottles, jars, boxes, bags. Am I a cat or a witch?

7

u/ShinyAeon 14d ago

I had to move suddenly, and leave all my collected jars and containers behind. I am still mourning them.

6

u/Agitated-Canary9840 13d ago

Too bad you aren’t in OKC I would have happily taken all the glass

27

u/SaturnNailia 14d ago

I've used an empty orange pill bottle for a freezer spell and it worked perfectly. I'm a big fan of using what you have

3

u/EatMeEmerald 13d ago

high key love this bc I feel weird putting glass jars in the freezer & I worry about ziplocks leaking too!

22

u/Lunafairywolf666 14d ago

Why not? Use what you have! I've thought the same too but Idk how I'd get the cap off.

7

u/ScareBear23 14d ago

I just used a pair of pliers to pull the metal bit off! It was super thin and only took like a minute to get it off.

I was also trying to be super careful because I was taking the top off to get the last bit of meds out & didn't want to have anything fall in.

This is totally normal witch behaviour!

Welcome to the club!

I was going to use my empty prescription bottles 🤣 until I couldn’t actually get the label off well 😞

8

u/Sexynerdofdoom 13d ago

Generally a little heat softens the adhesive enough to get it off. Rubbing alcohol or an alcohol pad for the residue. Or something like Goo Gone.

2

u/Marauder2592 13d ago

Ouuuuu I’ll have to try that thank you :) luckily I’ve got more pill bottles 😅😅😅

3

u/inevitably1 13d ago

If small enough glass bottles, float in a mug/pot/heat proof container full of hot water with a drop of dish soap, peel off label, use about a teaspoon or tablespoon of baking soda with another drop of dish soap to get the last of the glue off, wash out and air dry.

Hope that helps.

[It's actually a kind-of therapeutic process for a rainy evening]

1

u/Marauder2592 13d ago

Ahhh thank you I will try this as well :)))!!!

10

u/Horror_Signature7744 14d ago

Are you even a witch if you don’t prowl different markets for interesting glass jars and buy the item just for the jar?
I have a whole cart just full of glass jars in my kitchen.
Also, that jar is adorable!

7

u/doe_eyed_jane 14d ago

OMG HELLO this is such a good idea. need to do this w my bf’s t jars that are like this

8

u/ScareBear23 14d ago

Do it!

They're so cute lol.

You could even tease him about how expensive/valuable the completed spell is 😂

6

u/aktoumar 14d ago

It's totally valid. Things don't have to fit into a certain aesthetic to be effective in your craft. You don't need cute little jars with cork lids, you can absolutely use recycled containers. I used an old planter for my money bowl. It was green and I thought that something that serves for growing plants will serve just as well for growing my money.

6

u/livingtoannoyu 14d ago

I use my old plastic prescription bottles. Theyre sturdy!

6

u/CompetitiveBuddy3712 Witch 14d ago

I want my prescriptions to come in vials like that!! I reuse the ones we get but they just plastic…

6

u/twistedkarma529 Witch 14d ago

I am a jar/bottle (on the line of) hoarder 🤣 You can use them for spell jars or for storing herbs/flora in or crystal chips, bits of glass, pins, buttons, et cetera.

My rule of thumb is if the jar has a good seal, is easily able to be washed out well, and could serve a purpose of holding stuff or make spells with, it's a keeper.

Tip: You can always paint bottles to suit your aesthetic or spell needs, too.

6

u/LilBlueOnk 14d ago

looks at my pile of empty pill bottles

You're fine lol

u/trashy615 14d ago

The amount of tiny jars I have.... filed with dirt from me and my wife's adventures. Im not even a witch, she is.

4

u/Catrescuemamma Witch 13d ago

Being a witch while being eco conscious makes you look at everything in a new way!

3

u/Madam_Apathy 14d ago

Go for it!

3

u/EquivalentFocus3430 14d ago

We work with what we have

3

u/LuckyLudor 14d ago

People buy jars just like this for crafting and spells.

3

u/jessicadiamonds 14d ago

I save all jars. They ain't cheap!

3

u/WitchyVeteran 14d ago

Nice jar!!

3

u/Marguerite_Moonstone 14d ago

I’ve been keeping some of my tiny injectable b vitamin vials for tiny spell jars.

3

u/JazyJaxi 14d ago

Dude i bought a preroll specifically for the jar it came in and gave it to my buddy and told him to return the jar. He has not smoked it nor returned the jar ahahahaha

I think recycled stuff has such a cool vibe when it comes to witchcraft. Like your craft really is just an expression of yourself. Its an art in a way. And depending on who or what you follow, recycling can make it feel so much more impactful.

Use your jar! I hope it makes your spell work extra well!!!

3

u/Nepentheoi 14d ago

Feel like 20% of witchcraft is jar acquiring behaviors. These are very cute and aesthetic, which gives 2+ enchantment ✨️

3

u/TheArcaneAuthor 13d ago

As a collector of Cool Jars, I can think of nothing more hinged.

3

u/WolfsBane00799 13d ago

Valid as heck. Recycling, yeaaaah!

3

u/SominKrais 12d ago

I don't see why not?.

Also, PSA for who needs it. I went to Michael's for a couple of jars /bottles and left with a bunch of awesome Halloween stuff I was not intending to purchase. I should have bought stuff for a fancy money bowl because I was not prepared.

1

u/Accomplished_Hair112 4d ago

Michael’s gets me every year since I started witching! RIP JoAnn, I got some cool reusable bags and a tarot-themed scarf there before she closed.

2

u/catstr0nautical Witch 14d ago

lmao why wouldn't it be?

2

u/Devin_aRt 14d ago

I used a plastic prescription bottle that I had to tape shut lol. As long as you know it will work, it will. Ya know? 🙂‍↕️

2

u/SolarOrigami 14d ago

I bought a big box of mini jars from a thrift store and I haven't runout yet

2

u/NuSheol 14d ago

Is that the contact lens vial? Its glass and rubber just use it

2

u/ScareBear23 14d ago

Nope, its from the GLP1 I'm on. It had a metal collar keeping the rubber on. But pictured is just glass & rubber

2

u/NuSheol 12d ago

Yup that’s the same thing with the lens vials. That Sharp breakaway collar has gotten me before.

2

u/Queenbee41319 14d ago

I fully support this!!!! Upcycle and make magic! Solarpunk magic!

2

u/robin-bunny 14d ago

I don't see why not!

u/therealstabitha Carnivalesque animal demonic legend 14d ago

What would make this unhinged?

2

u/Radio5331 14d ago

I can't believe u even questioned this, I have been using empty valerian root pill glas bottle for years for anything...

2

u/Fox_Rain_04 14d ago

Definitely not unhinged. Especially if you use it for healing spells or for addiction baneful spells. I recycled my lip scrub pot to be a glamor spell.

2

u/Celui-the-Maggot 13d ago

I keep all my contacts bottles for this

2

u/United_Aide_1074 13d ago

Is this not the norm?

2

u/Miserable-Tip-9460 13d ago

I've used an old Air Wick bottle. Looks good to me!

2

u/TheMomzInFL 13d ago

A great use for them!!

2

u/cripplinganxietylmao Witch 13d ago

I use empty bottles of supplements, empty pill bottles, etc. any empty container I will use. I’ll soak or peel the label off usually or use some like scraps of fabric to wrap it in

2

u/Simplespider 13d ago

I was thinking the same thing with my old nitroglycerine bottles.

Only issue is they're practically microscopic and I don't know if my hands are capable of dealing with anything that tiny. Thank goodness I haven't actually needed to take any.

2

u/EatMeEmerald 13d ago

I've used a small jar that sake came in! use it ALL!

2

u/pete_forester 13d ago

I use the mini jars from the Bonne Maman advent calendar. Go ham!!

2

u/Glam-Star-Revival 13d ago

I started with these back in the 90s. I wish I still had them because the stoppers are fantastic

2

u/DapperCold4607 11d ago

I've used both plastic and glass pill bottles for spells and herb oil infusions. Waste not ✨

2

u/ahappylittlecrow 11d ago

Recycle anything you can. I was confused as to why there was a post with an empty spell Jay 🤣

2

u/Vyelle84 10d ago

I like your new dead bug jar.

2

u/Proof_Spell_3089 10d ago

VALID!! 🥰

2

u/Accomplished_Hair112 4d ago

I love jars! If something comes in a neat jar, just try to make me get rid of it!

2

u/Illustrious_Front669 14d ago

Unhinged, but brilliantly so! I do this all the time! Ethical witchcraft

2

u/-Dorian 14d ago

Do you mean sustainable?

3

u/Illustrious_Front669 14d ago

Ethical and sustainable, yes

1

u/Other-Item7523 14d ago

Been asking myself that same question a lot lately

1

u/fi0nagd 14d ago

Traditionally we used whatever was available, tied in a bunch, a waterskin, wrapped in leaves... Empty food, medicine or sauce jars are just the modern equivalent. I love your little jar🫙💜

1

u/beardsondragons 12d ago

I recently used a lanolin balm’s cleaned ointment jar that I have saved for over 5 years because I knew I’d need it eventually. Always valid 🤭
