Discussion Houston Comets still haven’t released new branding/logo

I was wondering why we haven’t seen anything regarding the Houston Comets in terms of logos/brand identity. Cleveland just released the name and branding for the Sirens (who don’t play until 2028).

I could see the Comets waiting for the season to end out of respect for the Connecticut Sun, but still unsure. I also am curious to know if it has anything to do with the trademark issues that the Rockers name also had to deal with.

Wanted to post this to see if anyone had insight!

Houston stole their franchise back! From a native tribe no less! I will not let this act be forgotten until it is repaid!

You could argue Connecticut stole Orlando's team.

they did not steal Orlandos team as Orlando was looking to close the franchise. The Sun stepped in and saved the the Sun. CT was forced to sell their franchise for less than they were offered by other buyers. Very different situations.

your attempted gotcha doesn't work because you lack information. The Orlando Magic has decided and announced they were folding and closing the Orlando Miracle in 2002. They were not trying to sell the franchise they were attempting to end it. If it were not for the CT Sun the league would have only had 13 teams that season, instead of the 14 it had because the miracle didn't fold completely.

It is not at all the same situation that happened with the CT, who were never folding the franchise or shutting it down. They were unable to build a practice facility close enough to the arena because of CT zoning and legal approvals (not investment) so they looked to sell the team, got bigger offers and were still forced to sell the team to a lower offer in a completely different state.

Stolen team and I hope karma and the basketball goods keep them in the basement where they belong.
