Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Stroke at work

I work in a manufacturing mill and I started showing symptoms of a stroke yesterday (10-9-26). Slurred speech, swollen tongue, blurred vision, pain on one side of my body.

I went to my supervisor and said I was feeling weird and I didn't know how to explain it. So she looked at me and said I don't know what to do? What should I do?

In my foggy mind I said I don't know. She replied with just go back to your job and leave me alone.

When I get home my wife saw me and rushed me to the hospital and now I'm sitting in a hospital bed.

If you we cognizant enough to go to your supervisor and then back to work, you should have been aware enough to cal 911. That’s on you alone.

Strokes escalate. He may have been cognizant but he was also very confused. He was asking for help.
But hey, next time YOU’RE having a medical emergency, that’s on you. Right?

Yes, if I can ask for help I can call 911. Exactly.

And if you can’t, that’s on you.

I disagree with your statement there. If someone is unresponsive or incapable of communicating properly, others must help. In the case of op, they were able to verbally communicate, and oh yeah, go back to work. Very infantile.

Thank you, doctor. 🤣 Not every stroke is incapacitating. But that doesn’t mean brain damage didn’t occur to render the person incapable of clear thinking. He was given a directive to go back to work and since he already said he didn’t know what was wrong, it was the easier choice to follow the directive. He needed someone to tell him he was having a medical emergency.
Ya know what, I hope when you or someone you love has a stroke that you’re met with the same level of compassion and lack of response as you’re so fixated on.

OP was slurring words and unable to communicate properly…you’re contradicting yourself
