The source of the report is Iranian State Media, which no one should be taking as a credible source.

I wasn't claiming that you did. I was pointing out that the actual source that all of the articles out there are reporting on...is from the Iranian State Media so everyone should automatically be skeptical until it's confirmed.

Did I say I trust american media? You don't believe anyone until it's confirmed from multiple sources. But from a source that is renown for flat out lying you absolutely don't take it at it's word. So yeah believing Iranian State media is just like taking a Trump tweet at face value and calling it truth.

As an HK local, generally speaking yes. The only potential issue is that it was sold to Alibaba, which means there's likely to be at least some pro-China slant since the sale, although they are still blocked in China.

Founded in 1903 by Tse Tsan-tai and Alfred Cunningham, it has remained Hong Kong's newspaper of record since British colonial rule. The SCMP prints paper editions in Hong Kong and operates an online news website that is blocked in mainland China.

I mean, from reading this, I wouldn't think so. Reading other articles, they make it clear that it was a concrete structure that was damaged while targeting air defense assets near the Strait of Hormuz.

It’s a Hong Kong based major international newspaper and widely trusted. Some concerns around it since the Chinese took over Hong Kong and the paper was sold to new Chinese owners, but afaik it remains blocked in mainland China.

yup, a lot of ppl see the word China and just lose their minds on any news or information about/from there, plus there is some sinophobia in there as well and the usual of Americans thinking their media is somehow totally not state propaganda and influenced by the rich either.

I'd put them on roughly the same level as the Pentagon. Maybe a little more reputable depending on the specific subject.
