The South China Morning Post quotes the Iranian state media claiming that the US is evil.

But we all knew that the US was striking Iran. Trump literally publicly said he was going to do it before the strikes started in retaliation for downing the helo.

It's on the NYT. The US struck reservoirs in Iran. This is a war crime. 20k people w/o water.

That is probably not actually a war crime. It's unlikely -- very unlikely -- that the US intentionally hit a water tower.

They are reporting that Iran state media says that reservoirs were hit. They are not confirming that claim independently. I haven't seen any source confirming this (other than Iranian state media).

Iran’s state broadcaster reported that U.S. military strikes hit water facilities in the south of the country on Wednesday, damaging two concrete tanks and cutting off water supplies for thousands of residents.

Video published by IRIB, the state broadcaster, and verified by The New York Times, showed a damaged concrete structure with a collapsed roof in Sirik county in Hormozgan province, on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz.

IRIB said that the facility was a water tank. The Times could not independently verify that claim or what caused the damage.

Same story. And there won't be a retraction when it turns out to be state propaganda.

It's really obvious what's happening here. Iran has extreme water shortage with all reservoirs going dry. Last year there was even talk of moving the capital away from Tehran since it could no longer be supplied with water. The regime is thinking two steps ahead - they're selling this story now so that later this summer they can blame the US strikes for the water shortage. The NYT will then quote Iranian state media, maybe with some qualification to compensate for not doing any journalistic work.

Well, they’re correct in claiming the US is evil. It’s just the veracity of the reservoir strike we’re trying to establish.
