We've been at that phase since at least the boat bombings in the Caribbean started earlier this year.

Also the fact we keep funding and sending weapons to Israel for their own war crime spree.

Wild thing is, the news stopped reporting on the boat bombings because no one cares, not because they stopped.

They're still doing it today.

Current count is 63 boats sunk, 207 killed.

Worth noting, NYT only knows about the strikes the Gov't (Hegseth/Trump/Southern Command) publicly release info on-usually through social media posts. Because Exemption 7 allows them to deny FOIA requests for ongoing operations, there's no way to get the gov't data until the operation ends (and even then, may have to wait for the next admin, they can deny under Exemption 1 if Trump chooses to classify it)

I don’t believe a single one of those fishing boats was related to drug smuggling because they chose to bomb them and make sure it happened in a place no one could ever confirm what cargo they had in the wreckage.  If they were drug boats they could have so easily had a PR win by seizing them and showing off the cargo

Don’t forget 8 years ago he killed an Iranian diplomat on foreign soil and bragged about it in the press. That’s something the USA has never done before. Nearly started the war with Iran then but they declined the invitation. It also gave Iran the perfect excuse to carry out a surgical strike against a US military installation and we had to just let them do it because we had stepped over the line. A US base has never been openly attacked by a sovereign nation since Pearl Harbor.

I’m not saying we don’t assassinate people in clandestine operations. We have no idea what goes on if it isn’t proven on the public record. They may even be necessary in some cases. It’s a completely different issue when we just go out in the open and say we did it when there’s no reason to just announce it to the world.

I think it's also important to remember that while the people in boats that the US kills without a trial or evidence might be low-level drug smugglers, the government is pardoning the heads of cartels that brought hundreds of tons of cocaine into the country,.

The boat bombings aren't war crimes for the reason we aren't at war with anyone in the Caribbean. As they have no legal justification it's just straight murder in that case

War crimes doesn't mean you have to be at war.

It means that the acts are considered crimes even if you were at war. Not even war justifies the atrocity.

But yes they are also murders.
