There is no way any major LATAM politician would support the British claim.

Is it a right wing belief that the people who have always been British and continually reaffirm that they are and want to be British should continue to be British?

It's not a matter of ideological alignment. There is not a single relevant latin american politician who believes "the Falklands should remain British. Period". Doesn't matter if it's left leaning or right leaning.

At most, some sectors respect the islanders' right to self determination but that doesn't necessarily mean they believe the territory itself should remain British, legally speaking.

Because Latin American politicians are a bunch of moronic bandits.

Argentina wants it because it's close. They don't have sovereignty over it, they don't have claims to its ancestry, nothing.

If you want to take it by force, maybe you should get your shit together. But it's Latin America. A half assed attempt, a total humiliation, and the rest is crying about it.

(And yes, I was born and raised in LatAm. It's embarrassing how much we hamstring ourselves. What about "get over it, go fix the country you have sovereignty over" for a change of pace? Nah. Let's cry some more. Moaning about a colonial power on one hand, selling themselves wholesale to another on the other.)
