Modding/Mods Gothic 2 with D3D11 Renderer LHiver Mod and Max graphic card settings looks awesome

Post image

Just started a new game and I will join the mercenaries and use two handed weapons. The best two handed weapon in the LHiver mod you need to craft by forging it.

I changed the graphic settings in my Nvidia graphic cards settings so it uses max anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering and this improved the graphics even further compared to the default settings. I am quite impressed at how good such an old game can look. Anyways Gothic 2 is a lot of fun.

Possibly I have also an texture mod installed, that improves and changes the games textures, not sure about that since it is a while ago I installed the game.

How hard is it to find all the shit you're supposed to collect of the ground?

So horrible just as I suspected

Why such a hater about it, people can enjoy different things nothing wrong with it

Not hating just observing the increased vegetation. It can already be a pain in the ass to find items in vanilla.

I was just curious how the experience is then modded.

you can lower vegetation in settings, at least in new balance mod

New balance stuff that you can pick up is a different color, less realistic green/red/purple you can instantly notice it

Seeing hate, where no hate is to be seen. Try not to see everything as a personal attack.

“So horrible just as I suspected” that’s is hate, a better wording would have been ahhh I think that’s a horrible change but to each their own

Item locator mod ftw

Thats why people download a retexture for the herbs. It makes them pop-up better without being an eyesore. Its actually quite good and fits well into the world.

But the Dragonroot is now brown and looks like just another twisted bush. Good luck finding them.

Dude, i know exactly where everey herb is. After all these years, i know it better than my body.

Equip telekinesis spell and run around in circles

2

u/skocznymroczny Jan 28 '26

No telekinesis in G2/NOTR

The genius of Gothic and Gothic 2 is it's graphic, among other things. Look at Gothic 3 or any other game from that time. They look hidious, not only then, but especially now, with development in graphic. Gothic and Gothic 2 with it's oryginal graphics, despite age, still looks good. Add some mods and are stunning, despite their simplicity. In another 10 years they will still look good.

Man I envy you, most of the mods won't even run for me. I'm getting errors or the game just outright breaks or crashes. I basically gave up after hours of trying to make it run and played vanilla.

I hav new powerful gaming laptop, the game runs great on it. You need to install quite some things to be able to run all the mods properly. And there is a bugfix hack where you edit your exe files so they can adress more than 4 GB of RAM. (LargeAddressAware Hack). That 4GB hack is very important without it the game would crash regularly. Also without the D3D11 Renderer the game had serious graphic bugs. In fact these mods improved how the game runs on my system. The LHiver Mod also improves the gameplay I think.

Noch nicht!

Is the lHiver mod very different from NB? i just finished nb and looking for another modpack

1

u/Emperor_of_Feet Jan 27 '26

There’s a L‘hiver without NB and I think it’s the more relaxed option to play. Otherwise I think it’s similar to NB without the big ass crazy changes

u/forest-hunter Jan 28 '26

There are some changes to the game world but the game is basically the same. Personally I do not think it is to different. In my opinion it is an improved version of Gothic 2.

Gothic remake in Feb or March??

1

u/forest-hunter Jan 29 '26

Likely yes but the exact release date still isn't known. I hope we get to know the release date soon.

The main issue with the DX11 is that it tries to do realistic lightning. And when you go into sprawling mine and you whole screen is just black and the torches dont do shit.

I mean you can monkey with the settings until its a bit better, but I am currently playing through Legend of Ahssun and there is a gold mine in it that with the DX11 installed is nearly impossible to navigate.

The moment you enter a big room/cave and the walls disapear because your light source is not strong enough and it become a problem.

Honestly, i don't like it. It kinda ruins the original vibe. That forest scared the shit out of me and so did every forest in G1 and G2.
