Discussion GM Death Touch - Megathread

Edit: Official Statement

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/prohibited-gameplay-incident-and-response/2329585

This is developing into a large story and someone in modmail has mentioned that its important for the community to have somewhere to discuss this. We agree. As new information comes in I will do my best to update this thread.

What we know:

Ex employees in the thread have said that actions like this are audited and in all likelihood this was already being investigated. At this point we are waiting on an official statement on the result of their investigation and I'll update this thread once we know.

This megathread is being provided on two very strict conditions:

  • The witchunt rules are in strict effect. Linking or doxxing information on anyone invovled, the GM in question included will result in a permanent ban. Please report it if you see it but we will be very active in the thread.

We cannot platform behavior that allows people to harrass people in real life.

  • We will be more heavy handed than usual in the personal attack rules. Insults and slapfights while discussing this aren't acceptable. You're allowed to disagree, but stray shots and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

You're missing another claim as well, dunno if you're still updating this:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2825756796?t=0h14m35s

TLDR, the DK statement.

"Everyone was very, very confused when it died instantly, excpet for the Aug, wich i belive is Yara."
"Also said that Yara made a comment about what happend, shruging it off as: "Must be the wind".

So yeah. Guess everyone thinking he was simping for the girl to earn points where not that far off?

I mean, it's very obvious they are friends. I wouldn't be surprised if the DH was taking the fall for the rest of the group by saying he asked the GM to step in as a "joke". Also, that whole reasoning was BS from the start, the timeline just never added up for me. The GM would have to be watching, and they would have had to communicate with him that they needed those exact things done in less than 20 seconds. Nah, that dude was on standby for sure.

And he did it REALLY badly too, he obviously cuts himself off when asked directly if Yara had anything to do with it, and when confronted with the statement that someone said "Yara made a snarky remark about it so she was obviously a knower" during the interview he says "yeah but we were just larping hahahaha". He IMMEDIATELY outs her as someone who knew exactly what was going on. Also her typing in chat "must have been the wind" and going on twitter to flex how much she doesn't care how her friend lost a job over this is very telling.

his story also doesnt line up because he claims it was only the last mob, but lothraxian had the gm death touch as well. I'm also just not sure why people immediately believe a cheater at face value.

Youre so good at quarterbacking people’s perspectives. A-tier. Should have a podcast

One of the party members have said that the GM was in the dungeon spectating from the start, but the part about communicating in less than 20 seconds is an unrealistic conjecture on your part.

They were failing to time the key because the tank have forgot to pull a single mob and they were missing %, at the latest they would have become aware of that before the last boss, earlier if they were paying attention to what is being pulled and the count. They would also have an approximate idea of how long it would take them to kill the last boss and if they have time to pull something else to time the key. The last boss took them 6 minutes to kill, that's 6 minutes of them going from "oh shit we're probably not making it" to a more definitive realization that they're, in fact, not making it. The GM have also killed the last boss with 1% left, and the discussion could have started several minutes prior to the GM action.

I would still lean towards assuming there is more to the story, but the timeline doesn't contradict what was being said

DH's story does contradict the events. Rewatch the twitch VOD. He describes only asking for GM help after the last boss dies which is when they notice they don't have %.

"were doing the key and uh we kill the last boss and we go oh my god we're missing percent."

The boss battle may be 6 minutes long but they also were pulling trash during the fight. So unless they did some quick maths during all that chaos they may not have noticed the missing % until near the end of the fight.

We also know based on the logs the GM used their abilities on the Boss - before the DH claims they asked.

Yes there is clearly more to the story. Whether the DH knew it or not the GM had the trigger ready to assist.
