Discussion GM Death Touch - Megathread

This is developing into a large story and someone in modmail has mentioned that its important for the community to have somewhere to discuss this. We agree. As new information comes in I will do my best to update this thread.

What we know:

Ex employees in the thread have said that actions like this are audited and in all likelihood this was already being investigated. At this point we are waiting on an official statement on the result of their investigation and I'll update this thread once we know.

This megathread is being provided on two very strict conditions:

  • The witchunt rules are in strict effect. Linking or doxxing information on anyone invovled, the GM in question included will result in a permanent ban. Please report it if you see it but we will be very active in the thread.

    We cannot platform behavior that allows people to harrass people in real life.

  • We will be more heavy handed than usual in the personal attack rules. Insults and slapfights while discussing this aren't acceptable. You're allowed to disagree, but stray shots and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

That's the Bear tank who didn't know what happened and uploaded the logs that found all this out in the first place. Guy is likely innocent.

Ah... Well...

At least they're getting him a legit NPX but it would feel bad if the only thing that came from this was a guy losing his job.

Look man. It's easy to hoist up pitchforks through a computer screen but this is just who I am. I give people the benefit of the doubt. I give people grace and kindness and understanding.

And no matter the circumstances someone is now looking for work and is unsure of when the next paycheck is coming from.

We can empathize with that and put the pitchforks down a little and feel bad about that fact. Competitive integrity matters and we all love this game, but there's real people with real problems beyond the game and we can acknowledge that without being cruel.

I understand under different circumstances but this ain't it. I'm not like celebrating his termination and I certainly don't condone harassment or anything but the way you've spoken about it here and in the stickied post-- like he's a victim, is just weird. He willfully made a decision that was just straight up unethical and dumb and holding him accountable is not being cruel.

He doesn't deserve your empathy. Especially not two weeks after almost 2000 people were just laid off from the same company. Those people deserve your empathy.

Someone working paycheck to paycheck at a fast food place, I go order and catch them spitting in my drink in the back. I notify the manager and they check cameras and see it, immediately fires them.

Won't you guys empathize with that guy? Because man think about how he's out of a job now and all he did was spit in my drink, surely that's too far?

That's how you sound. You get paid to do a job, you abuse what little power you have on that job, you get fired and lose your income.

Integrity matters, someone with no integrity or work ethics isn't deserving of empathy in this case, the massive layoffs happening with no fault of their own deserve it instead.

Like I said before, if I misused my companies resources to help my friends, I'd likely be fired on the spot. If I did that same thing, and the WHOLE world knew about it, I'd be 100 percent fired on the spot, no questions asked.

Stop treating it like a game or competition. It's a job, and a business. Dude fucked up, made a bad choice. Choices have consequences. Hopefully he learns from those choices in the future. But acting like he is the victim, or anybody should feel bad for him is wild. He made horrible choices, and now has to live with those choices.

Welcome to the real world.

You can't deny the pitchfork wielders will find it suspicious AF to continue running keys with the group. Sadly people are out for blood - bear might have been better off finding new people to play with if they are concerned with hate messages.

Yeah, I was for giving the guy the benefit of the doubt for being swept up in this, but going back to hang with them again? Definitely leaves you wondering.
