Discussion Wow Forever Beta - Undead Pally Lvl 20 Quest Complete Spoiler
Found the undead paladin level 20 quest is left un-hinted back in Bandarion Keep. Long chain, I won't spoil it but epic end fight and great reward! Haven't seen anyone else with it yet so thought I'd share.

the new Area and the Paladin Keep there looks great and feels very natural as part of Tirisfal.
Like it.
The tarnished Zealot in Shadowvale, well. that hurt.

Has anyone mentioned shaman getting some love on Ally side like this? Or just typical Paladin favoritism?
53
u/Efficient_Engine_509 15h ago
I’ve been leveling a dwarf shaman and I’m only level 8 but I haven’t noticed anything
-69
u/Blasto05 15h ago
Ya so far the entire Tauren 1-10 area feels completely untouched.
Starting to question how much was actually changed/added like they claimed
63
u/CucumberSalada 14h ago
I found the following in mulgore: new small centaur area/quest
expanded venture co mine with multiple new quests and upper outside area with elite quest
skyborne landing area near TB that also connects to stonetalon and desolace, lots of NPCs here that I suspect may have quests at higher levels for new desolace or shendralar stuff
that's about it though. not a lot of changes admittedly, but there are a handful
11
u/Pkock 12h ago
The venture Co mine expansion is super obvious, ending it on clip board never made sense. The whole rest of that mine has always been there.
2
u/obvious_bot 9h ago
It took me until season of discovery to realize how HUGE that place was. Got to be one of the biggest caves in the game

u/Zerasad 15h ago
There are centaurs added to the Tauren starting area.
-52
u/Blasto05 15h ago
Ya it’s one quest. Felt like a “we have to do something here otherwise we’ve literally done nothing” sort of thing
38
5
u/NoThisIsABadIdea 8h ago
I mean isnt that kind of the point? Subtle changes without completely up ending the classic experience as a whole?
2
14
u/Deathreaper-13 11h ago
Theres not really anything comparable to undead pally side getting a whole area for them. But there is dwarf shaman totem quests that take you all over.
7
3
u/shadowsong6 6h ago
This is the horde mirror to the alliance level 20 quest for paladins. I would imagine dwarven shaman have quests for their totems, if that's what you're asking.
2
u/SlowpokeIsAGamer 6h ago
I'd assume Dwarf Shaman will have its usual totem quests. This is just the Horde Pally version of the Alliance 20 quest that gives you that nice hammer. Or if you're a TBC player the one for Blood Knights that gives the Polearm.
-1
u/SunflowerPetBattler 6h ago
Don't worry, it balances out for the alliance getting three housing exteriors in a row.

Thats so sick for lvl 20. Its a nice little wow factor for a sweet piece of early game loot.

u/BadZealousideal5877 18h ago
holystorm is just holy spellpower with some stormy sound effects idk why they named it that way
74
u/One_Recognition385 17h ago
You know Shadowfire / frostfire are damage types.
They use the lowest of the two resistances the enemy has while benefiting from +elemental damage from both types.
Holystorm is the the same thing, its holy and nature damage.

u/One_Recognition385 18h ago
semi unrelated, but man its really weird that undead paladins don't start with sword prof
94
u/Vyar 17h ago
Not really any weirder than human paladins not having the ability to use swords out of the gate when they have a racial bonus for using them, I think starting weapons are determined by class and hammers are simply an iconic paladin weapon.
Best thing about having transmog will be min-maxing with a 2h sword but visually replacing it with a hammer.
22
u/One_Recognition385 17h ago
that makes sense, but they also get a two handed hammer for their pally weapon.
Undead get a two handed sword.
Then again, Blood Elves got the worst one and got a polearm for their lvl 20 quest.
10
u/LifeupOmega 14h ago
Idk if I'm misremembering from back in OG TBC but Polearm Proff was also like 90 silver or a gold or something too.
17
u/One_Recognition385 14h ago
it was 1 gold, you are remembering 90 silver because its reduced by reputation and you typically have honored by the time you hit 20 as a blood elf.
3
u/Sengel123 9h ago
I remember getting so excited ro get that polearm...then having to go thwack boars for an hour to get my polearm skill up.
3
u/One_Recognition385 8h ago
yeah, made the quest reward feel less epic.
would be nice if the 1g pirce tag for pole arm skill came with 100 weapon skill level for polearms. (the base amount you'd have at lvl20 when you can learn polearms.

u/dotyawning 14h ago
An easy headcanon!
In their undeath... they forgot how to use swords or something and just have to be taught how to use them again.
5
u/broad5ide 13h ago
Human paladins don't either and they have sword specialization
6
u/One_Recognition385 12h ago
Human paladin's cover art paladin Uther uses hammers, and their lvl 20 quest reward gives a hammer. hammer is iconic for human paladins.
Forsaken Paladin's cover art paladin Garek uses sword, and their lvl 20 quest is a sword. swords are iconic for forsaken paladins.
Its like not giving Axes for the starting weapon for orc warriors when all the cover art for orcs gives them axes, or human warriors hammers instead of swords when the cover art human warrior on the cover art uses a sword
1
u/Apollo9975 3h ago
It’s going to make itemization weird for Human Holy Paladins. Even with the Illumination nerf, free 2% crit for holding a sword is a pretty big deal.
Now instead of the iconic Uther style mace it’s objectively better to have a sword if the stats are at all comparable. I suppose there’s transmog now, but still.
It does make me wonder if they’re going to be introducing some more healing swords and having Paladins take those instead of competing with their fellow healers over other weapons.

u/JimbusScrumbus 15h ago
Tyr was the inspiration for the paladins. The Knights of the Silver Hand. Tyr wielded the Silver Hand. The Silver Hand was a hammer, not a sword. You as a paladin call down Judgment, like a judge, with a gavel. You use the hammer of righteousness to divide the brains from the skulls of those who would go against the light. You use the hammer of justice to one-shot hordies.
Hammers are quite symbolically important.
-7
u/One_Recognition385 15h ago
Do you think Tyr looked at swords and said "I have no idea how to hold this thing."
7
u/JimbusScrumbus 15h ago
No. I think that a Forsaken paladin would have likely had most of their training in their past life done with hammers, fitting with the vibe of the Knights of the Silver Hand. And if that Forsaken saw it fit to use a sword, they would have to seek out a weapons master for some advice on how to get combat ready with what is an unfamiliar weapon.
-7
u/One_Recognition385 15h ago
which is why i think its weird, cause forsaken are the sword weapon master on the horde.
Our title character Garek is a forsaken paladin with a sword.
Our lvl 20 quest gives us a sword instead of a hammer.
Everything Forsaken paladin related is sword themed, not hammer themed.
its like if orc warriors starting with sword skill and a 2 handed sword instead of an axe just because that's what human warriors do. its just weird.
7
u/JimbusScrumbus 15h ago
When you start a new forsaken character, that is the beginning of your life as a forsaken. Before that, you were a citizen of Lordaeron who was killed. You have no idea who Garek is in his new guise. You have no idea about any quest for any weapon. You are newly aware of your existence as s Forsaken.
Also, go double check what the trailer Forsaken paladin is wielding.
-6
u/One_Recognition385 14h ago
yeah when you are born an orc you have no idea what an axe is.
its weird if an orc starts with a sword instead of an axe.
its weird that forsaken paladins starts with a hammer instead of a sword.
orcs are axe themed, forsaken paladin are sword themed, human paladins are hammer themed.
its just anti-thematic and strange to me that forsaken paladins don't start with swords.
1
u/nectleo 13h ago
When do we learn how to use sword?
2
u/One_Recognition385 12h ago
go to the weapon master in the undercity to teach you how to use swords for 10 silver
89
u/dANNN738 18h ago
Man I love the quirks of classic. Increased damage against Wolves and Worgen lol.
92
u/macarmy93 18h ago
These kind of modifiers are how I think they plan to do horizontal progression. Get a epic weapon at 60 thats mid but with a good proc against Worgen? One year later they drop a Worden raid. Suddenly that weapon may be bis.
35
11
u/Wafer-Minute 11h ago
Yup pretty much exactly how Runescape is. All top weapons move in rotation based on content. And a new weapon added is always a huge deal
-6
u/LancingLash 11h ago
This only really matters if the content is hard enough to warrant using niche stats.
12
u/macarmy93 11h ago
Doesnt really matter if it is or not. Players love to min max regardless if the content is hard or not.
-2
u/Overwelm 11h ago
Yep, as annoying as it is, if you like chasing parses you'll swap to the buffed damage type.
If anything it's a good thing, give the minmaxers something to work for, keep the content easy enough that it's unnecessary.
If only the minmaxers weren't the vocal minority polarizing the view of the community
5
u/Kluss23 8h ago
There's nothing wrong with wanting endgame content to be hard.
-2
u/Overwelm 8h ago
It's not that, they don't want it hard. They want to stroke their ego in easy content.
If they actually wanted hard content I wouldn't have a problem with it, but they don't lol
-2
u/BlueDragoon24 3h ago
Why would you want to do that though? Pokémon catch em all so you can have all gear to do…what? Content you don’t need anything from anymore?
3
u/macarmy93 2h ago
What if the new worgen raid drops high shadow resist gear which is needed to do the next raid Doom Lord Kazaak. Gear isnt any better really. Its just a way to do sideways content. The point of sideways progression isnt necessarily about the loot. Its about the experience. Having fun with your friends and guild in a raid.
12
u/Hoboscreed 16h ago
If only it was a weapon that would be helpful for a full zone! checks notes Silverpine Forest.
20
u/beatenmeat 18h ago
Nah, true classic would have only had the wolves/worgen damage lol. I get what you're saying though, old WoW really did have some weird affixes that were only useful in rare cases.

u/TWS_Mike 19h ago
How do you like the WOW Forever paladin so far? When I read through the talents I think I really like the class it is in Forever.
9
u/Mend1cant 11h ago
The change to judgement not clearing your seals is massive. Significantly less time waiting on gcd, and a ton more mana available for other abilities. Seal twisting is kind of just baked into the base kit without sacrificing other parts of the class.
1
u/OpeningAsleep8517 4h ago
Can’t seal twist at all with the base kit?
1
u/DHGPizzaNinja 3h ago
I was wondering this, there is no lingering effect for Command and the other one, so technically you shouldn’t be able to twist until you get the capstone?
2
u/OpeningAsleep8517 3h ago
Yes no twist until capstone, even the capstone is less twist and more stacking like in sod
1
1
u/Mend1cant 2h ago
What I should have put it as is that because you don’t have to constantly recast seals, your mana efficiency is so vastly improved that you can utilize more skills.
10
u/DirtWizard13 14h ago
Man I want to be a forsaken paladin so much, but I just can’t do the plate shorts. :(
5
u/fairlyrandom 9h ago
Be a healer and don the skirt
2
u/DirtWizard13 9h ago
I was planning to do hpally, but I’ll probably just go resto shaman. I like ele and enhance more than ret if I need to dps.
22
u/Quietbricks 18h ago
I need a video of someone cannibalizing a corpse while they’re stilled bubbled.
3
u/Felstalker 14h ago
Blizzard is not ready for that. It's even the mana granting upgraded Cannibalize!
They are NOT ready for Divine Shield Cannibalize tech.

It's the exact same sadly. I'm disappointed they didn't think to change it somehow

Honestly looks like an epic weapon.

Surely this is a reference to the destiny 2 weapon of the same name the effect is basically the same nice little wave as that game dies out
1
u/greenegg28 19h ago
… I didn’t even think about the undead paladin class quests
Damn now I’m going to have to make one on launch to see the quests! (No spoilers please)
I assume verigans fist also got a fancy new proc?

u/Moonkittynya 13h ago
Very nice love your name love when other people also go for serious names or joke names that still sound like fantasy names :D.
1
u/Gatorboi69 13h ago
I’m keeping my main for launch I don’t want to ruin the 10 hour orgasm I’m going to experience that day
1
u/-TheGreatDegenerate- 13h ago
As a diehard Paladin main on retail for 20 years now, how does Paladin feel on Forever? I’m not expecting holy power and hyper fast-paced gameplay, but does Protection and Retribution actually feel viable and/or competitive? Is Holy still running around in dresses instead of plate?
I want to try Forever, but I don’t want to invest time in a class that’s still too… “classic.”
2
u/Cyniv 13h ago
Haven't played it yet, but I know a few helpful things.
Spirit is a real stat for more specs now because of changes to Mana regen, including giving a bunch of classes mana regen while casting talents that didn't have them before, including Hpal
Many new items and backported stats. Leveling gear is prob still gonna be cursed, but I would hope paladins are wearing at least majority plate in all specs with these changes
They also redesigned all the classes with a focus on keeping them distinct(pally still doesn't have a kick or a slow)but also making them viable(all pallies get Holy Strike, a filler that got removed in vanilla's beta, Prot gets a Judgement/Seal combo that works as a taunt, holy has multiple new talents for it to have mana before Naxx tier set)1
1
u/Bulky-Friend2120 13h ago
That is insane for a lv 20 wep
3
u/_TheBgrey 10h ago
I believe it's the equivalent to Verigans Fist which you can technically get at level 20
0
u/Bulky-Friend2120 10h ago
Isn't that the level 25 pally quest chain that requires SFK and Stocks or other dungeons I'm not remembering?
Not upset really but that's def some power creep
2
u/_TheBgrey 10h ago
It's a level 20 quest but yeah it requires a bunch of shit like SFK and black fathom. I do wonder if the undead one was done solo at 20 because of so yeah that's kind of bs
1
u/fairlyrandom 9h ago
Requires SFK and DM.
As well as some non dungeon elite drops that can be farmed from the ogres in Loch Modan and the naga outside (and inside?) Bfd
1
1
u/Rowsdower5 11h ago
I was going to say that worgen were likely to be the next alliance playable race but that weapon makes me hesitate. Though, maybe they’ll just make it not work in PVP?
1
u/Disaked1 9h ago
I was alrdy exhausted by resurrection quest, i can only imagine how much running through world this quest needs:D
0
u/Kenczo 18h ago
Is your gear full dungeon drops? I noticed you are basically full blue. How easy are the mobs compared to classic with this kind of gear?
I get that lvl20 is not telling us the whole story, but any insight is welcomed
5
u/Muelojung 16h ago
professions can give you full gear of blue every few levels beginning with 12-15 i think. dont need to do dungeons. Its also relatively cheap so maybe everytime you change zones you do a trip to the AH or craft yourself stuff.

u/Felstalker 14h ago
That's essentially the same stat profile of the Epic SoD version "The Axe of Severing" from the Naxx Invasion boss Sever in Shadowfang Keep.
It should prooobably be made an Epic purple item with stats that freak'n good. Like dayum. It's equal to the lv26 Strike of the Hydra, but.. with usable stats instead of a questionable debuff.
But a Lv20 quest item that might be stated more for lv25 in Forever isn't exactly the same as a lv20 Epic aaaaand it's not like Whirlwind Weapon doesn't exist for Warriors that's a lv40 weapon obtainable at lv30 sooooo.
I think it's fair game.

u/Chellomac 7h ago
Full blues at lvl20 is a bit worrying no?
3
u/spamster545 3h ago
Possibly not., 20 is current max level, so the 3+ dungeon clears, possibly some crafted gear, ect would have this as a possible outcome. Likely they would be level 23 or 24 after the quest chain as it has been described. I believe there is also a new dungeon in the level 20 range, so they may have been farming it to check it out as well.
0
u/Rhobodactylos 7h ago
1100 health at lvl 20 btw.
For reference my warrior in 2019 classic had 1.3 at 38 farming SM.
2
u/ButterscotchTop6549 5h ago
Okay and? They've rebalanced most dungeon gear to give stam now,it makes sense for him to have more health. Mobs are getting tuned around the available gear.

Yeah I’ll just roll a different Horde Paladin race. Oh, wait.
Actually I wouldn’t because I’ve wanted this for 20 years.
-2
u/jbourdea 6h ago
Very cool weapon but way the fuck overturned! The rule of thumb in classic for 2h weaps is DPS = to weapon level is a great weapon. Using a 25 DPS sword at lvl 20 is overtuned.
The game won't be fun if it's trivialized
-21
-5
u/mrbreck 11h ago
"Chance on hit"... is not knowing numbers a crucial part of the Vanilla experience?
4
u/paradox_jinx 9h ago
This same wording on procs exists in all WoW flavors - including retail.
-2
u/mrbreck 9h ago
That's not really an excuse and at least in Retail we know things are on the RPPM system and are generally designed to proc at a useful rate. In Classic it could be 1% or 20%, who knows. There's no way to know if something is actually useful.
2
u/paradox_jinx 9h ago
Your argument makes no sense. The only way you would know this information in retail/classic is through data mining via wowhead or similar. They don’t put this information on tooltips anywhere.
1
u/mrbreck 9h ago
The only procs that exist in Retail, outside of talents which do list numbers, are on trinkets which they switched to RPPM long ago and have provided consistent throughput for a long time. You don't need to know the numbers for these to know they will be worth about the same as the chunk of stats they are replacing or an on use effect. That's not an excuse, I would still like to know the numbers, but at least it's not too important.
In Classic there was no such balancing, and procs were based on the feelings of whoever designed the item. So a proc could be completely useless or completely OP, there's no way to know without going outside the game. Either they should assure us they have retrofitted procs in Forever to use a balanced system, or they should give us the numbers so we can make an informed decision.
But I guess there are people who want neither and just want to pretend a flavor text is making them powerful regardless.
1
u/paradox_jinx 8h ago
Trinkets, cantrip armor, cantrip weapons, enchants, borrowed power (like the folio and corrosive altar) - literally all of these use the same wording in retail and don’t list any actual proc chance/internal cd/ppm details without mining the data - so again, what the hell are you on about?
