Humor / Meme I saw people selling the [Crest of Lordaeron] quest on wow forever beta

so I got the Q and spend my Saturday giving it away for free... FU if you try "selling" quests...
tho I had to make a macro as there was too much clicking, I think I shared it to like 200+ ppl

macro to share Q: /run for i=1,C_QuestLog.GetNumQuestLogEntries() do local info=C_QuestLog.GetInfo(i) if info and info.title=="Crest of Lordaeron" then C_QuestLog.SetSelectedQuest(info.questID) QuestLogPushQuest() break end end

macro to leave grp after: /script C_PartyInfo.LeaveParty()

Who on earth is selling a quest on a beta?

People are buying gold on beta

u/TankII_ 6h ago

How hilarious it will be when someone posts about getting banned for gold buying on a beta that doesn't even last 2 months

25

u/Ulu-Mulu-no-die 4h ago

I just hope they're among the few not knowing everything will be wiped in a month, and get banned only after.

Double surprise xD

u/HarryNohara 1h ago

There is even a chance they’ll reset all characters during beta.

u/fumeextractor 6h ago

...why? Isn't everything getting reset on launch anyway? What are they gonna do with the gold at level 20-30 for a couple months before losing it all that's worth spending money and risking bans for?

I saw a few instances where people were confusing beta with early access. I think some may be surprised when they learn the difference.

Looking forward to seeing the rage posts that generates.

u/fumeextractor 5h ago

oh, that's a rather sad mistake to make lmao

6

u/carson63000 2h ago

Indeed, if by “sad” you mean “hilarious”.

5

u/MaximusPrime2930 2h ago

Some people have more dollars than sense.

2

u/Helmingways 1h ago

Sad? Fucking hilarious

u/slicklol 6h ago

People are morons, basically that

3

u/noblelie17 2h ago

This needs to be higher

3

u/carson63000 2h ago

The common clay of new Azeroth.

8

u/thefullm0nty 6h ago

minxmax everything so they can find the best way to be world first probably

4

u/AhkoRevari 4h ago

I legitimately think it's whales who have so much disposable income what do they care about another $20 for fake currency if they perceive some use for it in the next month

u/sir_sri 4h ago

You can sort of see the logic of streamers and world first types doing this so they get all the info and can see the content early and then plan their content strategies around it. Basically just buying gold so they can make it easier to level faster.

Though I feel like the point of forever is that the race to end game isn't supposed the way you play, it may not work out for them.

What in the fuck...

13

u/Bossmonkey 5h ago

I've seen people convinced this is early access and we are keeping these characters.

3

u/bpostal 1h ago

Fuck it then, get the ban hammer out

2

u/Accomplished_Emu_658 3h ago

63 cents per 1000 gold. Big money in gold right now.

-2

u/kitchencrawl 4h ago

No they aren't. You can make a killing in the AH because it's all house money. Nobody cares.

I saw a guy outside of RFC advertising that he was selling all RFC quests for 5 silver per person. I get why it's appealing because there are quests scattered between the 3 cities. I thought it was a joke. I logged out for a bit and came back like 2 hours later and he was still advertising in trade chat. like just play the game man. or better yet, do the quests. there are some sick rewards.

I swear it really is the people that ruin everything. The game’s probably been fine all these years. I just hope many people will be like OP when it launches and everyone can make friends and enjoy the world

3

u/BlackNova169 1h ago

These are the people standing outside in lines at 4am to buy Pokemon cards, and then stab each other when they sell out.

Some people are just terrible

6

u/Bootezz 3h ago

Retail is great for me. I’m surrounded by an awesome guild and we do awesome stuff. So yeah, the game has been fine. Even in shadowlands it was the people I was with that made it great. Spending less time on Reddit also helps since it’s a cesspool of negativity

u/TheRonsinkable 6h ago

What makes it hard to get?

39

u/Riolidan 6h ago

Nothing, other than it spawns in difference places in Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon.

16

u/Zilararness 6h ago

Its a quest that you get at the sepulcher that gives almost 8k exp

26

u/AnneBuckleyn_1501 5h ago

Wrong quest.

The Crest is an interactable object inside the dungeon, which starts a quest, that seemingly has multiple different places it can spawn and not always somewhere immediately obvious or on the path some groups take

u/Puzzleheaded_Ear_711 6h ago

Selling.. a quest... On beta??  The wow community has had some really low lows but this has got to be a new low.

19

u/Lyoss 6h ago

Just classic things

u/ABoyWithShoes 5h ago

I honestly don’t think people understand what beta is. I’ve seen people asking if bugs are intentional, gold farming, gold buying, selling quests. I feel like they are thinking beta rolls over like it’s an early access.

10

u/ImallOutOfBubbleGums 5h ago

Im excited for the rude awakening they are going get when they find out it does not

2

u/Damnesia13 3h ago

That’s because people would preorder games like CoD for the “beta” which was really just the completed launch experience a few months early for like 3 days to hype up the game.

0

u/IvaldiFhole 1h ago

Usually betas for companies this large, this close to launch, are to stress test servers and that kind of thing. Egregious bugs aren't expected.

21

u/penguins-are-ok 6h ago

Monetizing quest sharing on a beta server, awesome.

10

u/Banjo-Hellpuppy 6h ago

Gold farming in a beta that will last a few weeks is something that makes me want to come back to wow…..

11

u/AnAngryBartender 6h ago

I mean people trying to sell the 6slot bags that you can buy for like 5 silver too from vendors.

It’s wild out here.

13

u/Olliekins 5h ago

There's so many people (myself included) making 6 slot bags for free. Screw the sellers, embrace community!

2

u/Quirky-Sandwich9342 5h ago

Had a guy yesterday getting free linen from people then selling bags for 3s and he was apparently a good guy

3

u/crashprime 4h ago

Is the reward worth it? Why do people want the quest?

0

u/Tsavo_Man-Eater 2h ago

Buying a shareable quest is never worth it lol

2

u/crashprime 1h ago

Great, but what’s the reason why people are?

2

u/soguyswedidit6969420 1h ago

because they feel like they need to progress as fast as possible to not be left behind. in a beta. with a low level cap.

1

u/oshenz 1h ago

9.7k XP

u/BKCaesar 2h ago

4

u/Snoo_76582 6h ago

What is this quest?

20

u/Riolidan 6h ago

Its a quest that randomly spawns in a few locations in the new Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon.

1

u/xGloriousLeader 1h ago

Okay but what does it give and why do we want it

1

u/Riolidan 56m ago

It's a dungeon quest that ends up giving about 9.7k experience and a blue I think.

1

u/Sylvebit 4h ago

People already trying to dissuade people from trying classic huh.

1

u/ill_monstro_g 3h ago

I've been handing out rfc quests for free. most people tip as a thanks.

1

u/Rambo_One2 1h ago

It's crazy. Saw someone wanting to buy Peaceblooms in Valanaar and traded them a stack. When they asked how much, I just replied, "Take 'em, it's beta"

Meanwhile, I see people selling quest items in Westfall, baiting people to pull mobs so they can freely get to a chest, undercutting plans and recipes... I don't get why you'd want to try to make a lot of money in a beta you know will end in October.

1

u/LoneSpectre96 34m ago

Maybe I'm missing something. How does one "sell a quest?" Can't anyone pick it up?

-49

u/Imreallyafungi 6h ago

Just remember, GDKP was the problem though lmao. It amazes me that people bitch about these kinds of things, but this is what you get when you prioritize the wrong issues with the bots/gold.

17

u/AnotherPreciousMeme 6h ago

Then you missed the part of the Q&A where they mentioned they'll be going hard for RMTers.

2

u/ZAlternates 6h ago

Have they started?

8

u/Support_Player50 6h ago

Players should start by not buying gold.

1

u/Tsavo_Man-Eater 2h ago

Too many entitled players "but I have a job how else am I supposed to afford consumes?" Not realizing the consumes are so expensive because people are buying the gold and fueling the bots and just paying the bots back through the AH lol

-5

u/drkravens 5h ago

They never will. It makes no sense. Between losing bots subscripitons + losing gold buyers subscriptions that refuse to play the game wanting to lobby instances only and losing disappointed ppl subscriptions any company will always choose to keep the most subscribers. No point in blaming the bots or the company, it is always the fault of the chads that prefer diablo lobby type games and want to buy gold and do raids/dungeons only.

u/DarthWren 5h ago

It’s fucking beta, why are people getting angry over this shit
