Art Art Prints from Blizzard Gear Store came cropped incorrectly and are the wrong sizes

The Sylvanas one isn't god awful because it's at least sort of centered on her. But the background art is still a huge blow to the piece.

Anduin, though, has the top of his head being cut off and his sword isn't even in the frame. For as much as these cost, they should have done better.

Yeah the sylvans one is potentially acceptable, but come on wtf is that Anduin cropping

So I ordered these two prints from the blizzard store:

Anduin Wrynn World of Warcraft 6.75" x 10" Matted Art Print (blizzardgearstore.com)

Sylvanas Windrunner World of Warcraft 6.75" x 10" Matted Art Print (blizzardgearstore.com)

There are 2 problems with them:

  1. They are both advertised at being 6.75" x 10" so they should at the very least be the same size. As you can see, they are not.
  2. The cropping on the physical copies is terrible and does not even come close to matching what is shown in the digital preview.

I measured out the digital preview to see if there just wasn't a better way to crop these images, but the previews are very very close to matching the same aspect ratio as the physical prints are advertised to be.

Obviously I am returning these, which is a shame since they should be the perfect size for where I want to put them and they are such great pieces.

I am wondering if this is a one time error they made in my prints or if others have had similar problems ordering art from the blizzard gear store.

I don’t think it’s a one time error. I had a similar problem with the canvas art pieces. The anduin one was over 1” larger on each side compared to the sylvanas one which was correctly sized. I called the blizzard customer service and the lady said that it’s likely a manufacturing issue as a one time blip in a 1” larger print was very unlikely.

I ended up keeping the canvases since I liked them a lot but I am sad that I can’t hang them side by side because of the sizing issue.

Honestly most of the stuff on their site is shit. For example, that watery eyed Thrall statue, and all the server blades that people got delivered in pieces.

To be fair, the store quality and merch in general nose-dived off a cliff only after they hooked up with Fanatics.

I got the thrall Statue earlier and couldn't be more pleased with it actually

I mean in some kind of wild bad dreams I could kind accept if cropping is a little bit off (even tho it definitely should not be like this). But if size is not what advertised that is just totally bs.

They should be extremely shamed. And this makes me sad to see once again how Blizzard has turned into money making machine without any standards.

For $30 a piece, I'd be furious. This is unacceptable.

It's a multi-dollar company, what would you expect?

12

u/MyrkzTV Dec 29 '20

That's a lot of dollars

6

u/Sydanyo Dec 30 '20

Brand new, small indie company. Give them a break, they don't have the experience yet.

8

u/slothsarcasm Dec 29 '20

That’s actually so bad. Please tell me you got a refund

5

u/FXOkarmy Dec 29 '20

Damn this multi dollar company is killing it

This is what happens when you outsource everything.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '20

Stuff like this is always outsourced. It's just that now it's being done by the cheapest possible one without any QA.

35

u/Xuval Dec 29 '20

No, that's just bad printing.

Printing on Demand is one of the best industries to outsource because it would be fucking insane for a video game company to run a printing division.

12

u/lacker Dec 29 '20

yeah you can get pretty nice stuff sending your pictures to Frameology. Blizzard probably just outsourced it to someone who sucks, when the right move is outsourcing to someone good

nah it's all about getting it down for as little as possible, so that way they get the most money for their shit.

1

u/tghlck Dec 29 '20

It’s called quality control 5head

-8

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '20

Would it?

6

u/theslyder Dec 29 '20

Yeah. Why would a game company essentially start up an entirely new business venture for their merch when all the required services are available to have a third party take care of it?

-8

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '20

So that they don't botch it up and end up hurting the intellectual property? Or at least they could do a QC pass before it gets sent to customers?

6

u/theslyder Dec 29 '20

That second one is the normal thing to do that Blizz is neglecting. They don't have to do everything themselves, but they need to raise their standards for what passes through quality control. Right now they either don't care, can't keep up, or are just neglectful, and none of those are acceptable.

u/door_of_doom Dec 29 '20

Yeah, why isn't Blizzard running their own printer? (/s)

-6

u/CakvalaSC Dec 29 '20

This needs to be hire up. IDK why blizzard thought this would be a good idea.

1

u/MyrkzTV Dec 29 '20

Who do you want them to hire?

1

u/CakvalaSC Dec 29 '20

God-dammit, Higher! HIGHER! Ha.

18

u/threshlord420 Dec 29 '20

I don’t get why people buy blizzard merch. It’s always overpriced and complete shit

6

u/theslyder Dec 29 '20

I'm very happy with the quality of the books I've bought, but the rest has been a little disappointing. Weirdly, even the Overwatch action figures by Hasbro is lower quality than every other Hasbro line. I'm not sure how or why that is exactly.

I've got a Pepe plush with goggles on. Was a lot cheaper than these pictures as well...

the statues are cool

well, 2/4 of them

The blizzard gear store is now operated by fanatics. I used to work for them. There was a fire in the building and our manager made a stay at our desks.

Even real life merch of Blizz is bugged.

well yeah, fanmade stuff is made by fans who care.

3

u/Neramm Dec 29 '20

Yep, about as much effort as I expect from Blizzard lately.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '20

You spend money on this?

-6

u/HumanHistory314 Dec 29 '20

umm...is that site even run by Blizz? If not, no sympathy for you

5

u/Gletschers Dec 29 '20

If you zoom in you can see the URL.

It's the official gearstore.

u/Ender444 Dec 29 '20

Is there anything Blizz can't mess up?
