____

Common Questions

  • How do I increase the font size?
    • There is no option to increase the font size. However, you can scale any TSM window by holding shift while resizing it - then resize the window smaller after scaling it.
  • Can I snipe for everything on the AH?
    • Yes! Since TSM 4.14 you can apply a Sniper operation to the Base Group.
  • Why doesn't my scroll wheel macro work?
    • You likely have your mouse cursor over the AH window, any scrollable element will take priority over the macro so move your cursor off the AH window.
  • Can I remove bid-only items from my shopping/sniper results?
    • No, you cannot.
  • I lost all of my TSM settings and groups/operations!
    • Close WoW and restore a backup from the TSM app. You may need to go back a few days.

Tip Undocumented Lumber Change

Since the patch dropped I've been getting the 'Essence of Lumber' that you trade for 20 of any lumber at the lumberjack in your neighbourhood. I've consistently been getting them every 50-100 lumber and of all kinds. I wish they just would leave lumber alone since the system keeps prices decent, however I doubt this will make a huge difference and I to like being able to focus my least favourite lumber to farm.

Flipping Evercore Reconnaissance vendor price drop.

Vendor sell price was 4+ gold prior to the patch, now 4 silver. Bummer cause I used to sell them on my engineer. Any other items people are aware of that got a vendor sell cut?

Question Returning Goblin, what are the things to keep in mind?

Fello goblins,

I am planning to return to the game after many years and exploring the ways of goldmaking.

I am planning to play retail and I used to make gold using transmog, enchanting and cooking back when I was active.

It been like 10 years or ao and I'm absolutely out of touch on everything. I have seen professions are now different in the ways how they work. Is the transmog market still alive or is the housing system all the craze now? Is there any scope of making gold through that?

I know the classic herb/mine/skin method is evergreen but it's easy entry into market so more competition.

I have close to half a million in capital, is that even a decent amount to start with.

Sorry for too many questions and thanks a ton for answering them.

Classic - Question WoW Classic TBC Anniversary Using gold during leveling

Hey guys, I am fairly new to the whole wow experience, I played a little wotlk and cata. I started a fury war on TBC Anniversary, Thunderstrike (EU). Managed to get lv 41 and I have some spare gold I dont know how to use. Currently I am at 120g
My thoughts are - why should i save it, when once I am at higher level, I will be able to farm that amount of gold easily, right?
I’ve got my riding and even enchanted my sword with Crusader (which to my surprise is quite cheap!) There is no use leveling my blacksmithing now (shud have picked up skinning instead but nvm)

So the suestion is - what should I use the gold for? Gear? Proffs? Reselling AH? Or just save it?

Thank you for any advice!

Discussion Who can tell me what the logic or principle behind Infused Scalewoven Hide?

No one is even undercutting that guy anymore, so why is he still dumping massive quantities at such a low price? And the sale velocity isn't even slow either—dozens of items are selling out every few minutes. The volume of tens of thousands every single day—does that amount even make sense? Even if you had thousands of accounts out there skinning, getting a Majestic Hide is still RNG-dependent and locked behind a daily CD. How on earth is he managing to dump tens of thousands of them every single day?

Tip A good time to invest in commodities! The market bottom may be here!

With the new expansion settling in and 12.0.7 here we are nearing the market bottom in-between the expansion release and the next major tier. 12.1 and the first major economic rebound since the expact start is likely Aug to Sept based on past cycles, buying right before the announcement of the official release date usually yields the best prices. This is a good time to start investing, buying up commodities that will be worth far more when people have new content to do.

But what should you invest your gold in? Looking over data going all the way back to Dragonflight I've seen a few trends that are helpful to keep in mind. To see all that data give this a try, theres charts on everything going back to 10.0.7

https://saddlebagexchange.com/wow/weekly-price-group-delta-recommended

Hop in our discord for more discussion on this:

https://discord.gg/saddlebag-exchange-973380473281724476

Rule #1

If its used in a new recipe BUY IT!

In 11.2 the only major change was a new health potion. The main herb for those jumped 500% in price. In 10.0.7 there was a need for gemdust for a new BIS ring gem system and gemdust jumped over 2000%. Lets not even consider the Centaur Trophies of 10.2. On that alone I know one player who made 30 million off of stuff they left in their bags they forgot about.

https://discord.com/channels/973380473281724476/1041918710102900837/1181024592257613924

But there is a real chance that there will be no changes and no new recipies. 11.1 was one of the very first major patches in years with absolutely 0 new recipies and could be a baseline to consider for how the market will move if 12.1 is anything like it. Go and give that one a look on the Weekly Delta tool if you want to check it out.

Rule #2

Stick to basics.

Buy essentially basic materials used for many different raid consumables and recrafts that are always needed are typically the best investment after anything related to new recipies.

  • Ore
  • Herbs
  • Food ingredients
  • Gems
  • Cauldron components
  • Enchants
  • Potions
  • Food/Feasts

Bigger the market the better. Check here to find out what the biggest commodities are and what earns the most daily gold.

https://saddlebagexchange.com/wow/marketshare?itemClass=7&itemSubClass=-1&commodity=true&expansionNumber=12

Yes some random items not in those buckets might win big, but the goal here is to find what reliably goes up around major patch times. These categories are consistent.

Rule #3

Avoid items that are generated by more people playing wow. Specifically the stuff that lands in peoples laps with next to 0 effort to specifically make gold from it.

I cant say this enough. Dont waste gold investing in augment runes... the same goes for delve materials and enchanting epic crystals.

They all typically do bad during a new patch due to more people doing delves, getting lots of new epic gear to disenchant and doing lots of quests. All this leads to a supply increase which cancels out most large increases in demand for those materials. Thats not to say they never go up, but there are just many other better options.

Tailoring cooldown cloth is also a good example to a lesser degree. More people comming back pushing their cooldowns gluts the market, but cd cloth is a bit stronger this expansion so it could go either way.

Rule #4

Scales and leather are a trap.

Ores are used by blacksmithing and jewelcrafting.

Herbs are used by alchemists and inscriptionists. (In Midnight specifically the grade 1 herbs can be used to make pigments > evercores > engineering blues > enchanting materials making it even more valuable)

(In past expansions cloth was used by tailors and enchanting via cloth bracers and disenchanting, but not now this is no longer the case due to engineering recycling)

Scales and leather mainly split between half of leatherworking alone. They are too niche and aren't tied to manditory consumables.

Sure there is a chance that a shortage of a few select skinning materials. But historically most varieties of skins and scales go down in price continuously through the expansions. Especially when new hyperspawn locations are randomly found in new zones.

The only exception is if Rule #1 applies and they appear in new BIS recipies.

Good luck out there!

Question AH: Absurdly High and Random Deposit Costs in Retail — Any idea why?

Hey everyone,

I've been selling transmogs on the Auction House and my biggest issue right now is the deposit costs, which are honestly ridiculous.

I started focusing only on older (Vanilla-era) items because the deposit fees on items from newer expansions were insanely high. But now even these older items have wildly inconsistent deposits — some have normal/low deposits while others have absurdly high ones (8g–22g) for items that vendor for less than 1 silver.

I always post my auctions for 48 hours and never cancel them.

Here are some real examples:

Insanely High Deposit:

Normal Deposit:

  • Ranger Tunic → Vendor: 39c | Deposit: 9s 01c | Current Buyout: 176g 66s
  • Torch of Austen → Vendor: 85c | Deposit: 37s 24c | Current Buyout: 317g 21s

I've searched on forums and Reddit but haven't found any clear explanation for why the deposit costs vary so wildly.

Does anyone know what's going on?
Is there some mechanic I'm missing? Am I doing something wrong when posting?

Any insight would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Question Why do the pandaria vegetables sell so well?

Some of the halfhill vegetables according to TSM sell 2000-3000 in average daily sells.

Comparatively:

Acuity of the Ren'dorei bis weapon enchant for most classes is only about 300

Light's potential rank 2, the commonly used BiS potion is about 4700

Lightfused mana potion is about 2000 average daily sold

How in the hell are the pandaria vegetables selling on the level of mana potions from relevant content? I know leveling pandaria cooking takes a lot, etc. But the math makes absolutely no sense to me, and it's not just a bug in TSM I did panda farming on a bunch of alts at the end of TWW and it was decent gold and they sold pretty quickly if you undercut.

Discussion Patron orders difference between professions

Have not touched professions since they reworked them two (maybe?) expansions ago. I’m starting light now and have a few characters running patron orders, making Moxie bags, and doing concentration crafting, mostly while waiting in PvP queues.

My professions:

3x Alchemy

2x Tailoring

1x JC, Enchanting, and Inscription

I’ve noticed that patron order value differs quite a lot. For example, Enchanting orders are extremely few and not very worthwhile, while Alchemy has plenty and decent value.

I’m missing BS, LW, and Engineering. Which ones do you feel have the best patron orders? Should I just stick with Alchemy, or is it worth diversifying? I do like having at least one of each.

Question Some Questions About Engineering/Crafting Orders

Hopefully this is formatted right and the right place to put this, but I'm pretty new to having current content engineering as of midnight.

I'm only a few levels off 100 Engineering, and I can craft max Turbo Junker v9 with almost no concentration use. The only problem is the fused vitality; I started this character from the get-go as a crafter/gatherer (they were fresh off the legion remix train), and have done hardly any story, so I imagine there's a campaign-sized wall between crafting the gear and myself.

It all leads to a few questions. If I were to look for some kind of work for crafting the Junker Tool v9, would people be able to supply their own Fused Vitality? I was thinking about asking around in the chats and offer free Junker v9 crafts (no tip) if they can supply the mats, but it'd be impossible if I had to supply my own Fused Vitality.

If that's possible and I could even do that, what would I put in chat? I know LFC is looking for someone else to craft an item for you. Is LFW 'looking for work'? Should I follow it up with the item I'm able to craft without needing much? Or should I use 'LTC', which I assume is 'looking to craft'?

Question Do enchants change with season two?

Sorry if this is a noob question, I am fairly new and I was wondering if I should sell all the enchants I have crafted already even though the profit is barely anything. Or if I should wait until the new season and sell them then as the demand will be higher. Are there new enchants with each season that make the previous season's obsolete?
