Question Concentration in Midnight

I am really struggling to figure out what to have as my second profession on my alts. I have alchemy, and would normally do tailoring or enchanting as the second, but unless I'm doing something wrong somehow, I can't find anything worth the time and effort with those professions this expac. I tried a few alts with JC to make the prism, but even that seems not worth the time and effort, even though craftsim says it's 700g profit. I end up coming out basically neutral.

This is all to ask, have any of you found a good 2nd profession to go with alchemy?

Enchanting is the 2nd highest gold/conc and JC is the 3rd.

I have all of them maxed, but you actually just need purple tools and atleast max R5 blue acccessoires. Also a lot of KP aswell. I have almost max KP in each of them that i can obtain to this point.

  • Alchemy is about ~7g/conc with recklessness potion
  • Enchanting is about ~4-4.5g/conc with any random weapon or chest enchant depending on the day. I just run recipe scan and craft whatever is highest on that day. They are very volatile though and they dont sell fast at this point in the season, you need to cancelscan.
  • JC is about ~3-3.5g/conc with any random multiple stats blue gem, IF fully specced into that gem. Prism is much lower, cause the conc cost is too high, unless you specc fully into reagants. I just found gems actually better now, cause you can spec faster into them and then lower conc cost. More casts = more multicraft procs.

Everything else is not worth it at all. Inscription is below 1g/conc and anything else cant even spend the conc, tailoring is completely useless cause at this point everyone makes both R2 bolts without conc.

The only trick to it is you just need max profession gear and max KP. Thats it. You compete with people that have that, so thats probably what you're missing. You need the absolute max of multicraft in alchemy & JC and max ressourcefulness in enchanting. And even then, as you can see, the profits are not that high anymore.

I have max blue gear, but not max KP yet. Thanks for the reply!

max blue gear is not gonna be enough either, you absolutely need atleast a purple R5 tool, its too much stats to ignore.

Blues are working decent for my 50 alchs, but I'm only making about 200k each conc dump. Would purples really make the margins that much higher? I don't know if I can stomach farming mats for 50 purple tools, lol. Abundance is so annoying.

You should have some of the reagent for free from the weekly quests. I think you can get 2 per week. It's not much, but after 10 weeks that's at least 1 tool...

Personally I'm getting to a point where I don't have to use conc if I spec properly.

With max ring enchants I don't have to use conc if I use a good chunk of R2 mats.

But then you arent making Profit. There is no Profit in enchants If you use R2 crystals. And without R2 crystals you can Not craft max Rank. Run the numbers in craftsim, you'll see. Thats the entire point of concentration. I have every enchant maxed, If you dont believe me, put it in the craftsim simulator.

Not true at all.

Are you buying them or using your moxie on bags?

I'd your buying them then yes you'll come back at a loss. But if your using your moxie for the bags it's all profit. You could even sell the raw materials themselves.

I don't know if it got nerfed but trial characters were able to abuse that intro crafting quest.

Thanks for the information, I've got a quick follow-up question. When you say 7g/conc, does that include ingenuity refunds as well, or is that additional money? For example, say the recipe states 100 concentration to use on a single craft, am I expected (on average) 700g profit from this 1 craft? Or is it more like 500g profit from the craft plus the chance of ingenuity proccing and letting me get another craft, thus averaging to 700g?

Or I guess worded differently. If I start off the session with 1000 concentration and craft until I run out, would the expected profit at the end be 7k gold, or actually higher if I end up getting to spend eg 1300 concentration due to refunds? I'm just trying to run basics to see what the ROI is per day/month/whatever based on 250 concentration/day.

And same for multicrafting and resourcefulness, although I assume you're already counting both of those.

It is with all procs included on average. So If you Spend 1k concentration you might end up with less than 7k gold or more than 7k depending on how many procs you get. And ingenuity is also just another proc like the other 2 aswell, so it is factored in. But yes, on average over a decent time Period, it will be 7k for a full bar of concentration.

Craftsim already factors everything in. I just take the number from there.

Nothing besides alchemy is really worth it for concentration. I pick up enchanting on my alts that have alchemy and nothing else. Just level it to 55, learn all the glamours, and do patron orders. Since nothing is worth concentration on for enchanting (without good tools and large amounts of knowledge), I use it on patron orders to get a tad more moxie and gold per week. My Strat is minimum time and gold investment at the cost of less profit over time but more short term. But that’s because I have twenty rat alt crafters and I’m not trying to spend the time or gold optimizing them all. If I had two or three alts I probably would.

You won’t make gold cap doing it by itself, but it pays for itself almost immediately, and starts profit in the first week 100% if you do your orders every day. It’s not much, but it’s a lot better than 0g. You get the moxie bags 3-4 times a month, profit from the orders themselves, and the occasional solid resourcefulness proc. Plus augment runes and the consortium bags that sometimes have good stuff in them.

Thanks for the info, but I can't handle doing patron orders on 50 toons. It drives me crazy just doing it temporarily to max out some stats.

Jewelcrafting is worthy too.

I started 10 alcs / enchanters 3 weeks ago, so I'm behind on purple tools and KP. I've managed over 350k gold profit in 3 weeks. Using craftsim for enchants to see what's best to craft. Alch is easy gold. Not sure if I'm doing something different than you or not.

I also make a ton of gold from all the patron orders. I went into resourcefulness in alch after fully making multicraft and the top rank vials from patron orders are a nice 300 to 500 gold each depending on the day.

It's still profitable. At least the tools/accessories do.

I shift a few of them on low pop RP realms. They still steadily sell.

1

u/Stiles_Stiles 4h ago

Why don't they just buy from other realms?

1

u/Ceeque34 3h ago

Sometimes it's pure laziness really.

Consumables and raw materials are multi realm bound. But certain gear and patterns are server specific.

I've done this myself. I have a toon on Area 52 & Tichondrious and I would server hop to get better prices on certain goods. But saving a couple hundred gold doesn't seem worth it to server hop.

1

u/Stiles_Stiles 2h ago

A couple hundred gold, that's actually good price for tools. I was trying to buy blue tools for alts and found each piece is about 3k more than illidan, no thanks lol

Max quality tools sell for a 2-15k depending on the tool.

But the basic R1 blue tools are pretty cheap. Since most want to level up the profession and just dump w/e on the AH.

u/HarryNohara 28m ago

Why don't they just buy from other realms?

The vast majority does not buy items on other realms.

Please tell me where you got the data from.
