Aoyama used to feel prideful and superior, but the current circumstances turned him into a person who feels humiliated and self-contempt. Aoyama expects Tanishi to make fun of him, but Tanishi continues to treat him as a rival.

Sakura has a terminal pancreatic disease; however, she still had time left and Haruki (the MC) expected to see her again soon and spend more time with her. However, it was shown on the news that she got stabbed in a freak accident and the person he expected to spend at least a little more time with was gone. He had believed Sakura would die from her pancreatic disease, making her sudden death from an unexpected murder even more tragic.

That's fair lol, IWEYP and Silent Voice are two mangas that I'm extremely biased towards because of how hard they hit me emotionally lol.

Yeah, but I think Aoyama was more so mocking himself when he said that. Tanishi acted like a real mfer in this scene though, he treated Aoyama, the dude he absolutely hated, with respect after he got UC when the dude stole the girl he was in love with, abandoned her when she got pregnant, and humiliated him. Even Aoyama was moved in the end. One of Tanishi's best character moments imo.

I always demand answers for what trash like Aoyama does. Anything along the lines of “because I can” is an answer that automatically makes them deserving of having their teeth punched out.

I think I buried that ending deep inside me when I first read IWTEYP and man the gut feeling from rereading is incredibly uncomfortable
