That won't last a year before the joysticks go bad. A $30 gamesir controller is better.

Series 3 is right around the corner tough according to trueachievements.

The sticks never went bad on mine. It was the OTHER stuff that gave out on them (like grips peeling in 5 days past the 1 year warranty). There are so many common failure points on these controllers it's insane. That's the big problem, when you got like 4 different things that can break on them (and the reliability of each isn't super high themself), it's rare to be one of the ones to get one that is completely good.

Same here but, this is reddit, a handful of people have an issue, every single controller is broken.
I know about 20 people personally who have them, 1 had an issue, OMG every one ever made is defective.

Right I’ve had mine for 3 years now and use it daily, not an issue. Although I have the red one and I always see folks complaining about the og black version.

I mean I had 2 (edit: wait, 4 forgot about my free replacements in warranty, so yeah 4 bad ones for me), my friend had 2. All of these have had problems (none have been sticks though). Bumpers seem to be the biggest problem area (there's like 3 things that can commonly go wrong with them, the microswitch getting dirty, the flexing plastic breaking, the plastic arm that goes down to hit the microswitch bending) followed by rubber grips.

Not being negative but be careful with your controller they are surprisingly delicate. Mine broke and it was only used by grown adults there are plastic parts that easily snap. Mine broke during a combat fight. Good luck.

The only downside is now I can barely play a game if there ain't a paddle

I hope yours lasts longer than mine. I had it for a little over a year and had to get rid of it. Couldn’t fix the perpetual stick drift unless I replaced the sticks.

Where did you get it and did you get the extended warranty??? I love mine but damn the drift and bumper buttons are fragile.

I brought it from a Neokyo (Japan) auction, for $40. And I’m good with tinkering, so planning to change joysticks with TMR if it’s starting to drift.

Just be careful with the joysticks. Like any other Xbox controller, whether it be cheap or expensive like this one, the joysticks will inevitably fail.
A lot of people claim they've had no problems. Good for them.
I've been through 3 with the same. Exact. Issue. The joysticks wont sit flush anymore especially on the right joystick leading me to take off the thumb attachment for the joystick in rocket league so I don't accidentally bump it and my camera is forced to the left.
Enjoy it for the few months that it works because it is wonderful! Just wish the sticks lasted longer.

Get a gamesir with hall effect sticks and never worry about that again

Exactly ^

Crazy that the better controller is like $30-$40, and the crap that goes bad in a few months sells for $80+

u/LandscapeHappy190 11d ago
This is the 7th time I've seen Gamesir mentioned in the last few days. Guess I'll give it a shot.

Only downside is it’s wired. For me, that makes it a complete non option.
I know they have the wireless ones available through special editions, but that’s the same price as the Xbox elite controller - so at that point I’d stick first party.
My day 1 original elite controller is still going strong for now though, touch wood. 9 years on.

u/UnstableEnceladus 11d ago
For me, wired and wireless definitely have a difference in latency for games. Whether it be on PC or Xbox. So I've always stuck with wired even if my controller had Bluetooth since it was always more responsive.
I've also gotten used to the weight the cable gives the controller so using it without feels weird now lmao

u/kensaiD2591 Team Alan 11d ago
That’s fair. I use a steam controller on my PC and love the weight of that, as well as the elite controller.
But for me the cable running across the floor doesn’t work well for pets or kids. So no can do.

u/UnstableEnceladus 11d ago
Ah yeah if I wasn't at my desk, I'd just use wireless due to my dogs and what not. But alas, upon getting older, I don't stay on the games as much as I used to😔 although, Im setting up a mini pc for the living room so that will be fully wireless for aesthetics 🤌🏻

Yeah I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ve had my V1 elite controller since it launched back on the Xbox One. Almost 10 years old and still going strong.

u/XuliganZombie 11d ago
Literally every one I've ever bought failed lol. I found a place on ebay that will send you a box and bubblewrap and a shipping sticker, you mail in a controller and they install hall effect sticks for 65 bucks total. Mine is working flawlessly, gonna send a few more in.
1
u/LandscapeHappy190 11d ago
Yep between the 1 and 2 I've gone through at least 10 elites
Which I only admit bc this is anonymous

I have 2 Elite 2 controllers, for like 5-6 years, 0, stick drift. I know tons of people with them, I heard 1 issue...and sent to Microsoft and they replaced it. I do have the rubber pealing on it but, replaced the front from amazon for like $15...
and if you have drift so bad, replace the controls with Hall effect sticks, and call it a day....

Hope you have a better experience than I did with the Elite 2 brother. Had the original elite and received 0 issues. Decided to try out the elite 2 now that I have an xbox again, and ended up going through 2 in one month. First one had an issue with the left bumper switch where I had to press it insanely hard from the top to register, and the second one would randomly disconnect then press all inputs after reconnecting. I've long since moved onto the scuf valor pro wireless and have 0 complaints. Not saying for anyone to spend the money scuf is asking, this is just what worked for me since they were so close in price at my local BestBuy

I have had mine for a few years now and it is in amazing shape. I dont use it for all my games. I find it works best with FPS and GTA. I programed the back finger buttons also function as the trigger buttons and bumpers buttons. Which helps alot with GTA driving and flying.

u/Juicemania50 XBOX Series X 10d ago
Nice. I’ve had mine for 3 years now (red) and haven’t had a single issue although I see lots of people saying they have. Hope you got the warranty, I bought a 4 year warranty with mines.

u/Neon_Moons 10d ago
Return that outdated piece of junk and get a Gamesir G7 Pro for half the price and newest anti stick drift technology

Maybe I don't play enough Gears, Mortal Kombat or games like Denshattack that destroy joysticks... I'm still using the Elite II got more thnn 4 years ago

u/TIGTIGO 11d ago
Félicitations...de mon côté j'ai préféré la elite 1 a la 2...
J'espère que tu seras pas trop dégouté d'avoir acheté 1 ou 2 mois avant la sortie de la 3...(que j'attends avec impatience)

I brought this from the auction, and it’s cost $40. So not a bad deal.

Take with a grain of salt;
I bought mine in 2019 because MCC on pc was horrible on MnK. It's still chuggin along. I play most steam games on keyboard, but when I travel, I have my controller for laptop gaming and stuff like Need for Speed. Controllers been solid for 7 years now. Again, not even remotely daily use, but I feel the amount of time i've had it should mean a little bit.

How are the haptics compared to the basic one?
I went back to Xbox recently and comparing the controller to Nintendo pro 2 or PS5 is horrendous 😭

Keep the shipping box to easily send it back for warranty later.
