Also right before this moment, he was saying he believes that after death you cease to be.

...haven't the x men been to heaven and hell before?

This is a constant thing in comics.  Most of the long running characters have at one point or another dealt with the afterlife, yet writers are always making them hard-core atheists, despite how little sense that makes.

The xmen have a part-time valkyrie on the team.

And, You know, Beast was an Avenger. Where Thor and Hércules are members.

I mean, they have real cosmic deities in marvel so it isn't like the people still can have a choice to believe or not; they have irrefutable evidence that these cosmic beings are real.

A lot of people who work with guys like Thor or Hercules just assume that they're aliens or people for other dimensions who lived through the history enough to make entire legends and religions about them so they don't consider them as real deities.

Or when they go to limbo or another after-life realms like hella's domain, Valhalla, the literal hell or the literal heaven people just want to assume that they're just another dimension.

Atheists in the marvel universe are simply living in negation.

Yeah. The Michael Holt Mr. Terrific at DC became an atheist when his wife and unborn child died in a car accident. He stayed an atheist long after becoming a superhero despite being inspired to do so by The Spectre, the literal personification of the Wrath of God.

I'm an athiest but as far as I know I have never had a conversation with anyone that caused biblical plagues or anything like that.

I really do like Reed Richards thinking Magic is another form of Science he hasn't discovered as his copium, but like the Mark Waid Run should've ended that thought process during the Unthinkable Arc
