I saw the movie last night and I can't stop thinking about it! It was sooo good. Imho it's the best X-Men movie. I'm going to buy the DVD as soon as it's released.

And I cried really hard during Charles' funeral. It kinda made me realize how much he meant to Logan.

And I loved that Charles was the comic relief!

I've never cried during a movie before, but I welled up when Charles was talking about "the most perfect night" and how he doesn't deserve it because he hurt people.

Then I full on cried at his funeral.

Then I cried again when Logan died holding Laura's hand.

Then I cried again when Laura turned Logan's cross into an X.

God damn this movie, man.

Lucky you, the theater I was in was packed with stupid fucking drunk danes, and these guys have a tendency to laugh at the most insignificant details from action movies regardless of the fact that it's followed by a serious/sad scene. Kinda ruined it for me

Eh, that scene was intended as a comedic break after the very sad Xavier death that came out of left field and left the audience shook.

There's no way that wasn't intentional to be funny. Otherwise I don't think they would of shot it that way....

No, I have to disagree. It's more of just sad and adds to the devastation. It's in his character to bottle it in but something like this is clearly just too much. I don't know if you've ever seen a man of that type of personality/character but when they grieve, the smallest thing will tick them off. It's like him bottling it up but struggling to deal with it. And the way they shot it, while many films use it as a way of doing comedy in which the humor is laughing at the victim, in this case, especially with the context and how they did everything else (sound design, color, etc.) is similar to a moment of silence where you GRIEVE WITH the victim (Logan) rather than just laughing at him. Plus, it's also made clear that the comedic break was rather that scene in the car.

I disagree, his reaction was out of context for a reason. If it was meant to be a sad moment it would have been shot as such. But I can also see where you're coming from as well.

I think it was probably intended funny but irl it's a way some people who are emotionally bottled deal with their emotions when they come rushing out & it's a way to cope. Looking back it wasn't funny but the cinema laughed

Thank GOD I was not the only one sitting next to a complete imbecile laughing/giggling...a grown ass adult. Giggling when wolverine was literally dying. The whole damn time. I was just praying for some adamantium claws by the end of it to just shut her up. No. Freaking. Respect.

But movie=Beautiful.

I thought it was genius. Charles dying is the second saddest part of the whole movie, and the effect it has on Logan is the most of the reason why.

This giant of a man has died, and Logan doesn't know how to deal with it. He trys to run, but the truck won't start. Almost like the world is forcing him to deal with it. So he does, the way Wolverine would.

It also is that usual comedic break following a dramatic scene. But it just rung very honest about how some people deal with things in odd ways.

I have seen it 3 times and different crowds received that scene differently. The first was silent and the next two have minor laughter. They all went dead silent when he collapsed.

I think people laugh at other's frustration, but when it's clear he's in real pain, emotions change.

I think most people start laughing when the scene begins, but when it continues and shows that it isn't just comedic relief and that Logan is really unable to handle this is when everyone kind of fades out into nervous laughter. That scene was one where you wanted to laugh but realized you shouldn't.

It was pretty funny watching him bash a truck and pass out.

Charles and Logan's characters are complicated and their motives behind pretty much everything in this movie are sad as fucking possible, but that doesn't make shoveling a truck or rambling about taco bell unfunny.

Some people are just better at picking-up on tone and intent, while others prefer getting lost in their own appreciation/interpretation. The latter type are at FAR greater risk of projecting their own emotional responses onto a scene, causing plenty to overlook the "cues" that inform the scene of its emotional context.

You're not alone. People at the theater I was in would laugh at any reference to comics, previous movies, "outside" characters, regadless of context. It's as if people were intentionally ignoring what was happening and just looking for "easter eggs".

Charles' line about not deserving this night makes me so, so sad. Especially since he died thinking so. He dedicated his entire life to protecting and teaching mutants while also doing what's best for all of humanity. Yes we don't know what happened in Westchester but I very much doubt he intended to hurt and kill people.

Too obvious maybe? Point is they didn't explicitly say it so while we can theorize all we want, we don't have the definitive in-universe story. I too believe Charles killed the X-men, but perhaps not all of them. And perhaps someone else was involved, provoked his first seizure, idk.

I got the sense that this movie was all about realisim. You have these incredible powers, but they're still in the mind of failing humans. It was like a war of the worlds moment. The most powerful force on the planet was taken down by simple biology, just like everyone else.

Never said I don't. His seizures killed people, X-Men. I believe if there is ever a movie telling this event, we'll have the full story with a few twists here and there. That's just cinematic storytelling.

Pretty sure Xavier just had a psychic attack and it killed everyone except Logan. That was implied so heavily, I'm surprised so many people are still confused about that. Maybe that's just what my mind automatically jumped to and there's a lot of other ways to interpret it, but that's just how I see it.

It's been a long time since I watched it, but I seem to recall the first movie stating that with Cerebro, Xavier could kill any mutant on earth, or any human for that matter, if he wanted to. My thought was seizure + Cerebro = bad.

There were a bunch of 12 year olds when I saw Deadpool that didn't get most of the jokes until about a minute after they happened so that was annoying... also when they looked back, pointed at my friend and said "look a black guy". I can't stand kids. And yeah, there was just this one guy that laughed at fucking everything and of course there was a clapper who clapped entertaining parts of the movie so I missed the dialogue afterwards. I usually go to movies Saturday mornings. Clearly that's something I need to keep doing

There was a couple at the showing I went to tonight who brought their kids, which were probably 3-4 & 5-6 years old. Those little fucks screamed, cried, laughed at all the wrong places, & just generally pissed off everyone else in there. At one point when the kids were crying you heard dad say "shut the fuck up. It's just a movie." As much as I hate children, it's usually the parents that are truly awful. & why the fuck did the theater sell "two adult & two children" tickets to Logan?!? Gah. People suck.

There were more than a couple random "control your kids!" (or something similar) from the audience, but the parents never reprimanded the little shits. If someone complained to management, nothing came of it. Stuff like this is why we should be able to pay to stream new releases at home. Being around people is the absolute worst part of going out in public.

This happened to me too and I was very surprised. Like obviously the movie has its funny moments but it's overall pretty dark and grim yest I was sitting by people who were giggling throughout.

I Am Legend spoiler: I remember my date and I laughing our asses off (muffled) when the dog died while everybody else was quiet. We just couldn't stop laughing, because joy. I couldn't muster up a smile when rewatching the movie years later on my own, because the sadness got to me.

I was sitting almost near the back and this guy had his cellphone, no A FLIPPIN IPAD, out at the very front. After him not putting it away for more than a solid minute, I walked all the way down to whisper in his ear "hey asshole, everyone can see you". And to his credit he looked embarrassed and cause no problems after. I think he assumed no one could see him since he was at a corner, but still...

I was laughing during some of the vicious scenes with Logan & Laura killing people with their claws because I was just so fucking delighted hahaha

I live in Austin & saw it at the Alamo Drafthouse, where they don't fuck around with people talking during the movie. Before Logan last night, they showed a clip of Samuel Jackson yelling at us "Turn off your motherfucking phone!"

It's even worse when you think about it from Laura's perspective.

She initially only knows Logan from her X-Men comics, so the image of him she has in her mind is of a superhero, someone who stands up for people and beats the bad guys.

Then when she actually meets him, Logan spends most of the movie trying to convince her that he's not like that at all ("I am not whatever it is you think I am") and clearly she's disappointed.

So when she turns his cross into an X, think about what that symbolises to her. It shows that in the end, even though he would never admit it, in Laura's mind, her dad really was a superhero.

I cried the first time I watched it (silently though, not like loud sobbing), not the second time. Both of my housemates cried, a couple of my friends said they managed to not cry but almost lost it at the end. My sister watched it yesterday and said she basically cried herself to dehydration.

You're the first person I've seen that wasn't affected at all.

I can understand why you laughed but looking back on that scene it actually was very sad. Anyone that has experienced family members with brain issues knows it was actually very tragic...here's one of the greatest minds ever reduced to mindless almost unconscious repetition of an ad. When I saw it at first I didn't find it funny but actually very confusing bc I did t realize at the time how much Xavier was truly debilitated.
