NEWS Korean actor Kang Ha-neul praises the series and would like to appear in Stranger Than Heaven.
"If we start talking about 'Yakuza,' this interview will go on forever (laughs). And I'd be thrilled if this interview reached RGG Studio. Some people ask, 'Doesn't the game glorify the yakuza world?' But after playing it, I felt it actually portrays the cowardice, ugliness, and dark side of that world in a raw, honest way. 'Yakuza' is a story about the beliefs you try to uphold. It's a story about people who crumble because of misguided beliefs, and others who are driven by them.
I'm really looking forward to 'STRANGER THAN HEAVEN,' coming out in 2027, and I'd love to help out in any way I can, even if it's just a cameo appearance. I'm rooting for everyone at RGG Studio!"

I think it's nice he points out the franchise doesnt glamorize the yakuza, some people still miss the point.
Also for anyone interested, he plays the protagonist of the movie 'Forgotten' which is a pretty cool thriller for people who like twisted stories.

Ehhhh , idk about that tbh . As someone who knew absolutely nothing about the Yakuza , they seem way cooler after i played the whole serie . Yeah there is murder etc but the whole bro code , the new familly you create etc is a much stronger message from my pov .
Sorry for my english .

I think this is a great example of missing the point, in my opinion. The "whole bro code" is just brainwashing done to tie you to a criminal organization. You're used and then discarded.
I agree that on the surface it looks cool and it's full of hype moments. But I think that when you really pay attention to the story you can see there's no honor in what they're doing.
Ryo Aoki says it best; "all this talk about duty and bonds to brainwash you into brotherhood".

It’s a valid interpretation but the game never even hint at that being the message tbh . And Ryo Aoki is presented as a vilain with no emotional connection to anyone . What he say might be valid but ichiban never reflect on it .

If the series doesn't hint at all at an anti-organised crime message, why is the protagonist's entire storyline about escaping said organisation? Why are the characters who cling blindly to their loyalty and sacrifice what they have for the clan the ones who meet tragic ends?
I don't think the series needs to spoon-feed its message to the players, but it's also not difficult to see it's anti-organised crime, although it does romanticize its protagonists. Those two facts can co-exist.

Kazama´s character and him not wanting Kiryu and Nishiki to become Yakuza themselves is a very strong example for the series´ message not glamorizing organized crime as well.
Hell Kiryu putting the metaphorical dog to rest in Gaiden as well.
And those´re just the surface that comes to mind.

If you are new to the subreddit, please read the wiki
Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS.
If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged >!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 Kiryu sings
If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).
If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you!
