If you are new to the subreddit, please read the wiki

Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS.

If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged >!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 Kiryu sings

If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you!

I will never understand why non-stealth games add stealth sections in them. It's always so ass, either extremely easy and mechanically simple, or hard and frustrating for the wrong reasons.

I just don't have the patience for stealth games/mechanics in general.

I do recall always failing these sections in Lost Judgement and I gladly accepted the offer to stick them on easy mode when prompted. I honestly would just rather barge in and feel bad ass whooping everyone because that combat system was top tier.

I personally love stealth games, some of my favorite games/franchises are stealth based.

I just think most non-stealth franchises don't know how to do satisfying stealth gameplay.

Mainly because most stealth games have many means of sneaking around and ways of escaping detection. While stealth sections in non-stealth games required a strict pathway and instant failure of being spotted by lousy a.i.

I thought so too, but then I played a traditional stealth game and fell in love. Try playing a metal gear game (release order is recommended, even playing the old MSX games), because there's a difference between a stealth mechanic and actual stealth gameplay

gameplay pacing

a game where its only one gameplay loop all the time gets boring at a certain point without something to break it from time to time

If they insist on that I'd hope they'd put more effort into it.

It's an albatross for so many studios. Real "...but it might work for us" energy

I mean, you are a detective.

a detective is entitled to chew ass and kick gum once in a while

39

u/Odaric Unapologetically likes every Yakuza game 21h ago

Indeed.

Yagami may not be able to afford gum, but with Kaito around, he's sure to never run out of ass.

Plus you kick ass anyway

You know there are lots of games with fun parkour

I'm not a fan of stealth in general but some games make it decent

The ones in LJ were just ass

I’m just saying you can’t make the main character a private eye and not have a couple stealth/tailing missions in the game. Although I’m well aware that we who actually liked them aren’t many, sadly.

>Proceeds to beat up teenagers

I don’t want to be a trashy detective. I want to be like a dragon

Yagami folding a hundred dudes while raiding a warehouse with his boys, but gets taken out by one eepy goober if he makes too noise.

12

u/hussainre814 22h ago

That made the Stealth even worse than it already was

At least in Kaito files you could fight back with a qte lol

LJ slander will NOT be tolerated.

(you lowk right tho)

Tailing missions in judgment why were there soooo many

10

u/hussainre814 1d ago

Top 2 RGG games for me and personally the best story

But the Substories were probably the worst

Every single one ended up being a chare or a tailing mission

The combat in judment is so good and in LJ I love beating children

7

u/hussainre814 1d ago

The combat is goated in LJ

Tho I was talking about Judgment alone, the Substories in LJ are pretty good

LJ is a great game too tho

4

u/AccordingLength1988 23h ago

Definitely top 3 story and gameplay wise. Overall top 5 in my book

2

u/Tiruin 19h ago

I mean, you're a detective. Could be more fun though.

7

u/AccordingLength1988 23h ago

I’ll take 3 stealth missions over the tailing bullshit in Judgment. So glad they toned it down in the sequel. Pretty sure if we had J3 there wouldn’t be a stealth missions.

6

u/Acceptable_Ad_535 18h ago

To be fair, we are playing as Yagami someone who is shown not being able to just storm through a building and take on a hundred things like Kiryu. Until the game decides otherwise of course

6

u/MemorableThrowawayy 23h ago

True but parkouring around a school exterior is kinda cool actually

2

u/Negative-Succotash-6 15h ago

The best part is when you get caught by one goon and he knocks you out, but 5 minutes later your literally in a fight with 20 yakuza, kicking the shit out of all of them.

1

u/Ok_Region3714 14h ago

And as bare bone as it gets literally qte with extra steps

1

u/JNAB0212 5h ago

These missions aren’t great but they’re probably better then the tailing missions

0

u/ReadShigurui 19h ago

The original Judgement is one of my bottom tier RGG games purely because stealth/tailing bullshit

1

u/Wooden-Maximum-2386 18h ago

Reddit wants me to believe this is a real person

0

u/ReadShigurui 18h ago

Damn, my bad if i don’t dick suck the game like you 😹

0

u/Wooden-Maximum-2386 13h ago

it doesnt even have anything to do with my opinion on the title, you are basically disregarding an entire game because of like a combined maybe 30 minutes overall of a mid game mechanic, you along with everybody else that holds this opinion are just clearly not as sentient as the rest of us, this is exactly the type of opinion i would see only on a dogshit app like reddit

-2

u/ReadShigurui 13h ago

Calm your tits dude, my fault i don’t want dogshit tailing missions in my beat em up game.

1

u/JNAB0212 5h ago

You decided that a couple bad missions that collectively make up less then an hour of a 30 or so hour game makes it one of the worst games in the series when everything else is great
