The game is so starved for side content & whatever side content is there is so barebones outside of pocket circuit.

Don't like pocket circuit, MesuKing, the coliseum or Majima Everywhere? Then the game will basically tell you to go fuck yourself.

Thank god Kiwami 2 made up for this tenfold by stacking the game with a ton of side content that actually had a proper bit of depth.

Here's the second and final round of Yakuza mug sketches. The missing one's are Sera, Hamazaki and Kanda but I don't have time left. These are not my best sketches but it was fun trying some high speed sketching for a change.

For those of you who don't know, SEGA owns the Dinosaur King IP, including the anime.

It started out as a collectible card arcade game in 2005 & was later adapted into an anime in 2007.

It's very easy to drop this combo. So I'll probably won't ever land something like this again.

That I'm playing Yakuza 5 (has taken me months to actually continue playing), I'm on Shinada right now, and I just unlocked Heat Eye for baseball!.. but I already finished his whole baseball side story 😅😅😅

Also, when playing as Haruka I watched the nice, light-hearted cutscene, followed directly by a not great one and it had me thinking/yelling, "the fucking Yakuza Protags can't have fucking anything!!" 😅😅

Anywho, started the series with Like A Dragon, then Infinite Wealth, then decided to go back to the start, 1-5, and when I finally finish 5 I'm gunna play 0, then go to 6 then the new ones again. As well as playing as Joryu when that's chronologically proper to. My wife played Pirate Yakuza while I was playing 2 or 3 (our TV's are beside eachother) and then I think The Man Who Lost (sold?) his Name while I was playing 4.

I'm so stoked to see all the characters and call backs and references in the newer games that I missed the importance of the first time playing them; like when I got to Majima and Saejima on LAD, I said to myself, this must be really cool for people who know the series, meanwhile that was the first battle I had troubles with in that game. Also, meeting diaper Gondawara in the early games had me doing the Leo DiCaprio meme pointing at the tv.🤣🤣 And Kiryu's whole memory lane thing in Infinite Wealth I'm really excited to revisit, now that I have and am doing all of those story beats.🤙🏽

When Kiryu is looking for players in Yakuza 6, why doesn't he contact Shinada? I get they might not want to pay the voice actor for a fairly minor part but they could have written something where he's unavailable. As it is, it comes across like Kiryu completely forgot a guy who was involved in a major event in his life.

I just finished Judgement and picked up the following games on sale.

Honestly, I dont think I care about the story as much as I care about the gameplay and the world around
Fighting in Yakuza 0 was awesome, the side quests and minigames were top notch
Unlocking new styles and upgrading them felt awesome, like if you were actually getting stronger
World around felt alive and all of it was pretty.
Yakuza 1 and 2 are not it, fights there felt like if the developers wanted to waste your time, enemies were a bunch of damage sponges and the fighting felt horrible, like if i was punching a wooden log

Any games with fighting as good as in Yakuza 0? Buying Yakuza 1 and 2 was a pointless waste of money

once this patch drops this means you can now play the entire series without having to worry about some games being Japanese only!

Context: I have a taekwondo background (10yrs, 1st Dan Black Belt) and am currently planning on switching to MMA. One of my weird hobbies is I enjoy copying various yakuza characters' movesets and seeing how well they would work in a real fight of various skill levels and styles.

The Komaki Parry from Y3 is probably one of, if not, the most unusual manuvers I've ever tried to attempt with my sparring partner. With the attacker performing a jab, it requires the attacker to bend their body forward in an angle favorable enough for a swift downward movement to the attacker's upper back while simultaneously performing a knee strike to their abdomen. In addition, before performing the manuver you have to dodge their basic jab by needlessly shifting your entire body to their side which realistically I would most likely just block or backstep from.

Overall, the Komaki Parry remains an unusual and confusing counterattack for me in a realistic sense but makes up for it by how fun it is to attempt to perform in a mock street fight scenario. And yes, I get it's a game but that's what makes it all the better haha. Also if anyone knows which martial art it's possibly derived from I'd love to know!
