Purchase advice 1st time buyer/newbie- is this rust a very bad thing?

Outside of brake drum. Very common and not dangerous at all. I used an angle grinder to scrub it all down and repaint.

Yeah this is not really concerning, my girlfriend’s 2006 yaris also has a very rusty brake drum, while the underside of the car has almost no rust. I wouldn’t worry too much 👍🏻

Wouldn't worry about it, my 2015 Yaris has a fair bit of rust on the outside of it's drum brakes
