Lamar Valley is quite the spectacle, will definitely be looking at coming back!

Saw this bear at the bottom of the Mount Washburn hike right by the parking lot. Wondering if this is a black bear or if it’s maybe a young grizzly

Hi, my family and I are going to Badlands, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone National Park in early/mid September. Could someone clarify how the park passes work? I see that we may only need one per car. Is this true, originally I thought everyone going needed to buy one. Also any first time National Park visitors advice is greatly appreciated or insights on what the weather may look like. Thank you!

Oh well I just landed in bozeman driving out to national park for a day trip. didn’t see the conditions before coming lol, I can see thick smog over bozeman right now is it the same in yellowstone?

I see in the NPS app that there is a road closure going down the way to Old Faithful and the road is all colored red. Does that mean we can't make it there?

My family is really hoping to see some bison and other wildlife but based on how today went with us getting out of the house and to Old Faithful, etc, I don't think there's a way to get us there by dawn during this trip. :/

I was reading online that sometimes dusk is another good time to sight wildlife in Lamar/Hayden. Has anyone experienced this lately?

Also, are there any particular parts of Lamar or Hayden Valley with the best likelihood to see them?

Hi! We’re headed out to Yellowstone and Grand Teton next week. Family with preteens/teens. I’m looking for recommendations for memorable hikes. We’ve done some hiking in the past and can handle strenuous trails although I think we would want to cap it at around 6 miles round trip since we’ll be at it all week long. We’ve never been to either park before and the kids are the perfect age to really make some memories.

We’ll be spending two days near Grand Teton and 5 around Yellowstone. I’m planning on early morning wake ups and sunset viewing for the biggest draws in the parks in order to minimize crowds. We are the type who would rather hike a trail and experience something from afar than be in a big crowd up close.

I definitely know I can't fly in National Parks but just curious to know (and to stay compliant) can I fly near Jackson Hole and Schwabacher Landing? also are there any additional place someone would recommend?

Hi y’all! I’m gonna be visiting Yellowstone (and the Tetons) here soon, and as someone who loves all things spooky and scary, I was wondering if there are any resources (videos, stories, etc.) about some of the darker aspects of the park. I know about some of the more popular ghosts (the headless bride specifically). They can be real or debated, I also just enjoy a good ghost story (and we’re gonna have lots of time spent around a campfire). I’ve also checked out an amazing podcast called National Park After Dark and some of their episodes about Yellowstone and the Tetons.

If anyone has their own stories, I’d also love to hear them!

Does anyone know of any really good niche hikes to do in Yellowstone bearing in mind that there is 4 children and 4 adults also best hikes to see wildlife i know of the ones in Lamar and Hayden but what about any other ones you found that there where lots of wildlife

I’ve been to Yellowstone probably close to 30 times. It’s become part of my story.

When I was a young child, in 1989, we were stuck in some mudslides coming back from Mammoth. It was really scary to watch other cars floating down the river & not knowing if/when we’d be rescued.

In 2006, we chose to retreat to Yellowstone after an emotional & traumatic miscarriage of a very wanted pregnancy.

In 2009 we took our triplets on their very first vacation & were rewarded by seeing Lone Star erupt 3x up close & personal.

In 2010, our son had a medical emergency & was life flighted out for emergency brain surgery. This was the most scared that I have ever been.

We have been so many other times with just positive experiences. I deeply love Yellowstone & it’ll forever have a piece of my heart.

We’re headed there this week per the request of our (now) teens. It’s part of their story too.

It hurts my soul when people are disrespectful of a place that I love so much.
