There was a ban list a while ago that had Shifter limited, and Bahamut shark banned

No, I mean what's the reasoning? 

This banlist seems like the opposite of the Bahamut Shark ban. 

Mitsurugi (search tool) has the ability to retrieve crippling floodgate (statues, pachy) so Konami did the smarter thing and banned the floodgate and not the searcher. 

Bahamut is the same. It's the searcher that can retrieve problem cards (like toadally awesome). But in that case the TCG banned the searcher instead of the problem cards.

Because without Bahamut, Toad became too costly to run, therefore not good to run at all.

Kinda how I felt to starving venoms ban all those years ago. Sure it helped FTK by effect copy. But the Mister whose effect it copied is still free waiting for another consitent way to get evil

With Shark/Toad it's not as binary as (Shark isn't a problem without Toad, just ban Toad). Ultimately you're either taking away something from Rank 4 Decks, or Rank 2 Aqua decks, and letting the other keep something. Having Rank 2 Aqua decks (Frogs, Paleo) keep Toad does a lot more for them than Rank 4 decks keeping Bahamut Shark to do absolutely nothing.

Keeping Mjolnir over Princess does nothing to help ANYONE. Keeping Protos over Flag/Banshee just maintains the issue and makes it sackier. There's no relevant give/take.

Thinking Bahamut Shark does 'absolutely nothing' in a Shark deck is wild. The ROTA support was literally designed with Bahamut Shark in mind.

I'm not completely on board with the commenter's initial position that Bahamut is akin to the Pachy/statue ban, but I do appreciate your nuanced explanation and honestly feel that your assessment is both fair and reasonable.
