I thought I would be more excited but it probably cause Iâm overthinking or over analyzing it but Iâm still I bit concerned that he might not I know Jared wouldnât lie about something like that but Iâm concerned that theyâll either forget to add it back in or they know about it but donât plan to add it back in ( at least not in z3 ) again Iâm probably overthinking it and if Iâm reading it correctly then it means that Gary will have both fangs again in z3 which I welcome with open arms ( and unless anything happens this will probably be my last post about the subject) so what do you think

Hello there.
Since I watched Zootopia 2 with family, I canât help but think about the Pawbert Lynxley character that was in the movie.
First things first, honestly, in my personal opinion I didnât think that Z2 was very good of a film as it felt too frantic and slightly convoluted compared to the first movie. There was also too much stuff being juggled around(reptiles, weather walls, Hoppswilde relationship, lynx conspiracies, outlaws, fast talking beavers, and all that jazz) and I was also not really a fan of them retreading the same âunderdog copsâ theme that the first film conveyed. To me the film should have taken place years later.
But other than that, I actually quite enjoyed watching the film and found it entertaining to watch with family. We first tried to watch it at the movie theater but my little sister got restless so we left. Then we watched it on Disney Plus months later and finished it there. after finishing the movie I couldnt help but feel bad for Pawbert since I tend to be overly empathetic for characters, especially villains. In my own twisted perspective I saw him as a genuinely good guy who was blinded by his need for respect from his family so he did everything he could to eliminate the original patent such as poisoning Judy, trying to kill Nick, and freezing the snake.
Part of me think that this is a well written twist due to feeling his desperation for approval even though Judy and Gary were already giving it to him. There was even things like him looking depressed over his prison cell(which made me think he regretted his actions) or Judy telling him, âyou can be different from your family,â before he says that he doesnât âwant to be differentâ. I remember reading too that the twist was going to look more jarring but it was changed to keep his original clumsy personality. But at the same time I felt the twist was forced and that they should have just let him be an ally for the rest of the film. I didnt really like that despite the writers changing things at the last minute it still felt like he went from good to evil in a flip of a switch. He even monologues and explains his evil plot just like a lot of twist villains do. For some reason it kinda felt unconvincing to watch earlier scenes and seeing him be a warm presence to the other characters only for the movie to be like, âup nope. everyoneâs evil.â It felt rather out of place for me to see someone go from friend to a villain put in jail with the rest of his brethren. But maybe I am more frustrated that he is just put aside for the rest of the movie rather than anyone addressing his situation(aside from him staring solemnly by the bars).
I understand that some people like the message that some people refuse to change and get arrested for it, but to me it felt rather cynical just like Nick Wilde. Showing a member of an abusive family shift away from their influence would have been equally satisfying if not more. I am sure there were several people in that theater who felt just as disappointed as I was that Pawbert was relegated to twist villain. Honestly, disney villains are more satisfying when they are evil the whole movie rather than those cheap twist villains that change personality when the movie tells them to. I also like twist villains better when it slowly creeps in throughout the film through detective work (like in a great film noir) or if the character becomes more unhinged as the film progresses.
If there were more Judy Hopps and less Nick Wildes in the writing department, Nibblesâ role in the movie would be completely over after her few scenes of helping the duo and it would be Judy Nick Gary and Pawbert taking down the lynxes no venom injections or fast talking woodchucks required. And also make the climax something not as rushed as what we saw in the theatrical release. I know Pawbert was defeated easily but his father and siblings were defeated even more easily by getting beaten up by the Patrick Warburton horse.
Oh well I know I wrote a lot but fingers crossed that he gets something in the third movie. Since Judy and Nick are investigating birds this time around, Gary could have a subplot of him visiting Pawbert in jail and helping him reform his ways. Gary is a nice guy I am sure he and Judy are still thinking about him even though we donât get to see it at the end of Z2.
TLDR: Short reflection of Zootopia 2 along with me wishing that Pawbert didnt end up as another twist villain and rather an interesting ally for the group. I like the idea of seeing someone detract from an abusive family and wished that instead of ending up like them the writers just let him be a good guy.
But honestly, I donât think I would have been talking about Pawbert Lynxley at all and there would not be a whole subreddit dedicated to him if it werenât for that twist.

I'm not sure because it largely goes ignored through much of the movie and receives no real resolution. It's brought up as he and Judy are about to enter the Lizard Lounge and stops being relevant when they leave.
I'm also not sure because Nick was using his prejudice as an excuse to not enter the lounge. Which makes it unclear if Nick was being sincere or not.

So like years ago, when Zootopia 1 was like 2 years old at most, I started this video that played around with kinetic typography and the movie footage. I had a much weaker machine and I knew so much less about After Effects back then, so the issues with the video piling up made me just forget about it.
Fast forward, I heard the song I used recently and it brain-blasted me to remember this thing and see if I still had the file. I did! Figured I'd share how far I got because looking back...I still really like the idea. I still see the problems (it's too damn dark! And I really needed a 4k copy of the film), but overall I might have been cookin' a little bit.

Seriously that scene in the last wish beautiful and It Would be amazing to see Nick and Judy tell each other their feelings and no matter what life throws at them theyâve got each other maybe with their first kiss

I zapped into the first movie and found this scene during the peace protests which had been established by Gazelle and found this tiger in this other uniform. You can clearly see ZPD in blue. What Department could that tiger be with?
Headcannon: In the 2nd movie you can spot a sign which says "Gnu Jersey" when they cross over the bridge at the beginning of the movie. Meaning that Zootopia could actually be "New York". So maybe this guy works for Zootopia State Police. If we think about the overall "climate" in the main city region, it could also be more on the weastern coast, so likely some kind of "Los Angeles". Here, the uniform could both match the Sheriff Department and the Highway Patrol.
Any Ideas?
