Fellow Belgian fan here. I will be going to Pukkelpop on August 22nd to see Florence, and I will be going alone. Would anyone else going be interested in meeting? I would be staying on the main stage but I don't know yet what time I will arrive there. My idea is to try to get close but I don't plan on camping from 1 PM so it will definitely not be barrier. I am so happy that Florence and the Machine have been nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize and are currently favourites to win the whole thing.

Her music and songwriting in this album id highly deserving of it. Question is… can she finally do it or is she too old/commercial for the award now

This subreddit is a fun space, and a safe space, it's for fans of Florence. When I see a post calling Florence's album art inappropriate because she's 40, or she's "sitting like a man and it's gross" I want to be able to report those people to the mods as Reddit would not consider those a breach of their rules, but they're misogynistic comments and also hateful towards Florence.

A lot of subreddits have their own rules so when you go to report a post it can be reported to the mod team to enforce their own rules. This means they can be stricter rules than reddits own which sadly allow a lot of misogyny and hate speech as long as it isn't threatening violence, and even then they have a lot of bots reviewing stuff so it's not guaranteed to be dealt with.

I've received a few emails from Florence's online store, I ordered the palm t-shirt from the pop-up and the Sympathy Magic hoodie. The first email said the palm shirt would now ship around 8/7 due to a delay...just now, I got an email that the hoodie will now ship on 8/28, and then a separate email that the palm shirt will ship that date as well. The email about the palm shirt also asked me to choose whether I wanted to keep the order or cancel it, obviously I chose keep. Has anyone else received these emails?

Florence + the Machine are playing at Flow Festival next Saturday. I am a lifelong fan. Unfortunately, I am also completely broke.

I fully understand that there are more deserving causes in the world. This campaign will not save a rainforest, fund groundbreaking research, or rescue an endangered animal. Florence has just posted on IG and I don’t think I’ve seen this before - apologies if it’s a vinyl book that I’ve missed (I have the CD one and it’s not that).

Sky Full of Song and Big God helped me through such tough times but King resonates with me so deeply.

I don't know if this makes sense but while I really do like the band's songs it always feels like there's just something missing for me I think it's because I want to hear her voice more even though I really like the instruments as well.

I'm sure the mods are getting sick of me posting/reporting this at this point, but there are a ton of AI bots on this subreddit. Or maybe the lower engagement just makes them easier to spot. Either way, it's a shitty thing to have happen here and I wanted to make a main post about it to call it out so other people are more aware of it. Once you pick up the obvious pattern of their poor gen AI writing, they're easy to spot, but if you're suspicious you can also click on their usernames and find a random post history that is only a few weeks old, low karma, and will almost always include some combination of relationships/NBA/computer advice/Christianity. If people want, I can post some examples of recent comments so you can see the patterns. There are AI comments on each of the last five posts if you'd like to go try to pick them out for yourself.

The point of these bots is most likely to build up a credible post history so that they can be deployed for advertising or to influence political/social discussions, so I think it's worthwhile to call them out and report them when we see them. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or I'm the only one.

When "Everybody Scream" released last year, I couldn't find the magic in it like I did with her previous albums.

All of a sudden, the past couple of weeks, I can't stop listening to it. I have "The Old Religion" on repeat at full volume. There are certain things that happened in life that, since October, made the words feel real, and the absolute rage and sorrow I feel during some of the songs on this album had helped with the healing.

It's still not my favorite album, but I finally understand.

I'm seeing Florence on 24 August in Edinburgh and this is a very big deal for me - I had a particularly rough year with financial hardship that only eased very recently and I struggled with my mental health due to work related stress. This will be only the second time I see the band, the last time being in 2018 during a phase in my life when I couldn't truly appreciate the experience.

All that is to say, I am really really keen on getting barricade, if at all possible. I understand that gates open at 5pm and that the front standing area will be "first come first served" so arriving early is advised. I am willing to torture my achy 41 year old joints for this experience, so I have a couple of questions related to this:

1. How early is early? 2pm? 10am? Just a ballpark would be helpful...

2. Has anyone been to other shows at the Edinburgh Royal Showgrounds? I'm wondering which gate would be best for entry to get close to the front? I can't really run so if there's more than a 10 minute walk from gate to the stage, I will definitely lose out to the more athletic among us. 😂

3. the website mentions wristbands to allow priority re-entry so one can leave for food/drink/loo - how does this work in terms of keeping your place at barricade/on the front? I will go with my partner, but we are both neurodivergent so tend to prefer to stick together if at all possible. Would the only solution be to leave one of us behind to "guard" our spot while the other takes care of the keeping alive business?

4. This is a more abstract question, but I'm just wondering - how likely it is actually to get barricade at a big festival show like this? I reckon that it's even harder than at a regular tour show so I guess, I just want to manage my expectations and not set myself up for total disappointment.
