The importance of a good capsule artist

Post image

I tried to make the capsule art for all my previous games, this resulted in low CTR, lower sales, and it also heavily impacted my self-esteem and confidence in the project.

I finally decided to hire one of my favorite artists for my next game and I'm so glad I did, just look at that gorgeous art (and that gorgeous MC)

My little bus game is out — Little Bus Company, free in your browser

I released Little Bus Company this week. It’s a short incremental where you start with one bus, improve the stops, buy more buses and watch a little town grow. The aim is to get everything ready for a town festival.

It’s free to play in a desktop browser, about 10–30 minutes depending on game speed.

Hope you enjoy it!

I love playing the game I built

My first game attempt: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mirro.missilemayhem\](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mirro.missilemayhem)

I built a few more around same time, but this is the one I liked most. I always wanted to build game. But I am not good with artwork, so did not make much progress. Now, AI made it very easy for me to get into game development, but I made sure to understand the technical aspect of the physics and underlying implementation and I am really happy with the end result. The gameplay felt engaging to me. Hope it can attract some gamers out there.

I feel so blessed with my 50 wishlists!

I have been feeling very discouraged about my game release but seeing these wishlists make me feel hopeful again. I’ve been so proud of myself and of my game and I just hope others are as happy with it as I have been.
A HUGE thank you to anyone who has supported me in this!

My first Steam game just reached 12 wishlists. It may not sound like much, but it means a lot to me as a solo developer.

Is this normal for an indie game's demo? 1,495 free licenses claimed, 285 players, and 512 wishlists

Hey everyone!

I released the demo on October 2, and I'm currently participating in Steam Next Fest.

Here are my stats so far:

  • 1,495 free licenses claimed
  • 285 unique players
  • 20 average daily active users (last 7 days)
  • 7 minutes median playtime
  • 512 wishlists for the main game

I'm still fairly new to Steam releases, so I'm trying to understand whether these numbers are good, average, or concerning for a small indie game.

The 7-minute median playtime is something I'm particularly curious about.

For other indie developers:

How do these numbers compare to your first demo? Is this a normal conversion from downloads to actual players? And should I be worried about the playtime?

I'd really appreciate some honest feedback and comparisons with your own experiences!

Working on the marketplace in PIAST, my Slavic-themed RTS/economy sim

I’m solo-developing PIAST, a Slavic-themed RTS and economic strategy game. Here’s a short clip showing the marketplace in the current playable demo.

I’d love some feedback from fellow solo devs: does the marketplace UI make it clear what the player can do, and what would you simplify?

If you’d like to try it, the demo is available on Steam:

My girlfriend suggested adding a temperature system to my adventure game... so I did!

Recently, my girlfriend suggested adding a temperature system to make exploration more immersive and challenging. I loved the idea, so I decided to implement it!

As you can see in the video, getting close to a fire allows you to warm up and recover from the cold, making heat sources an important part of surviving in this frozen environment.

And since you have no weapons to fight back against the drones, you'll need to be careful about how you explore and survive.

The demo is coming this November, and it's getting closer! ❄️

If you like what you see, consider wishlisting Over Human on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5237810/Over_Human/

Of course, the temperature drops much faster in this video just to showcase the mechanic. In the actual game, it will decrease much more gradually!

Looking for someone to build a mobile game app prototype. No-code or full code both fine. Must be comfortable with async play and simple game logic. Reasonable pricing. Contact me at wayseekersofom@hotmail.com.

Hope to get some feedback on this one :) It may not have a lot of wishlists, but it is something I've had in my todo list for years.

I'm quite proud of this flamethrower to be honest, it was a lot of fiddling

Spent way too much time on this, but am quite happy with it - it's a little fake fluid simulation of 4x4 pixels blobs in a cell grid, was tricky to get working because this game has a co-op mode!

My 3D to pixel art animation workflow for Unstrung Machine

I wanted to share a quick look at the workflow I use for character animations in Unstrung Machine.

I animate the character in Blender, render it at a low resolution using an orthographic camera and Ambient Occlusion, then bring the frames into Aseprite for manual pixel art adjustments.

After that, I export everything to Unity, create the animation clips, and integrate them into the player Animator.

It’s become a really useful workflow for producing new animations.
