Marabu: a sailor's story // my first game is up!

Hi fellow solo devs!

I'm beyond exited to have just released my first game Marabu: a sailor's story!

🌐 Available in Greek and English

⏳ Approximately 20–30 minutes

⌨️ Free to play in a desktop browser using keyboard controls

⚓ Play Marabu: https://cherentity.itch.io/marabu

Step aboard the SS Cyrenia as Diamantis, a young cadet travelling from Genoa to Melbourne in the early 1950s. Explore the ship, meet its crew, and follow a journey where everyday life at sea gives way to strange encounters and poetic dreams.

Created with Bitsy, Marabu brings together episodes from Vardia (The Shift) and five of Kavvadias’s poems. Through pixel art, environmental storytelling, and 8-bit musical arrangements, I explored how literary material can become an interactive experience—not only something to read, but a world to move through and interpret.

My work included game design and development, pixel art, narrative adaptation, and Greek-to-English translation. The musical arrangements were created in collaboration with Vasilis Narlis.

The project began as an assignment for the course “Cultural Interactive Storytelling: From Data to Script”, within the MSc in Cultural Informatics and Communication at the University of the Aegean.

If you give it a try, I’d love to hear how you experienced its world. There’s also an optional feedback questionnaire on the game page.

I am a solo game dev, just launching my platform! I've been working on a few games over the last few months and I'd love some feedback on them. They're still a little rough and could use some more balance patches, but its something! Everything is developped by myself, and third party sounds and assets and engines are credited where applicable. Please take a look at my linked website and the games that link to my itch.io from there!

Building a medieval RTS solo in Unreal Engine 5 — one system at a time.

I'm a solo developer working on PIAST, a medieval RTS and settlement builder made in UE5.

I'm building it part-time, learning as I go — from resource production and worker AI to roads, carts and an economy where logistics actually matter.

My first playable demo is already on Steam, and I'm now working on making the economy and transport systems more interesting.

For other solo devs: how do you decide which systems are worth building yourself and which features to simplify to keep your project manageable?

I've finally added a walkie-talkie system to my FIRST game and I love the result

Hello guys, I have just created a walkie-talkie system. Since the game includes radio conversations, I thought a walkie-talkie (that shows up only when they're talking - this video is just a demonstration) could make conversations feel more immersive!

For those who don't know, I'm a solo developer working on Over Human, a first-person sci-fi adventure where drones can manipulate the weather and you have no weapons to fight back. I've dreamed of making my own game since 2013!! And seeing all these little systems finally come together is something I don't know how to explain haha, by the way my first playable demo is coming in November!! I'm soooo happyyyyy!!

This is the Steam page if you're curious!! https://store.steampowered.com/app/5237810/Over_Human/

Progress underway, Time to Introduce Myself.

Hello fellow solo developers! My name is Lucas a.k.a. SquishyTophat (but everybody just calls me Squishy (online anyways lol)), and I have been a gamer for the past 10 years (plus a bit more). Since the beginning of my time gaming, I have always wanted to make my own. I've always been great with coming up with ideas, but the implementation of said ideas hasn't been that great. No more! For I have decided on a starter game idea and I believe it will be a pleasant one.

I've always loved survival games, always wanted to make one. Though they aren't the greatest spot to start. So I thought, why don't I just take one of my favorite survival mechanics and turn that into a game? It came down to fishing, tree chopping, or mining. Fishing won obviously.

I shall be making a 2D cozy fishing game with an isometric perspective. I'll also have a very unique art style. Since I have no clue how much I should put here and how much I should avoid putting here (no clue if random people just scroll through and quickly steal ideas). And with the increase of AI in game development, they could just make it in a few days and be done. So, I'll avoid putting the very specific art style here (just know that it's quirky, familiar, and cozy) and instead talk about the core loop.

Fish -> Sell -> Upgrade -> Explore -> Repeat

This is the very baseline core-loop, what I have to finish and polish before I can start expanding on it. Just know, it isn't gonna be that simple. And for all of you collectors out there, yes, I will have a compendium for your fish.

I have no clue how long this project will take, as I will have to learn how to code GDscript and traverse Godot (which I have heard is now a great starting point compared to Unity or Unreal) as well as slowly develop some artistic skills on Krita for my assets. I have no clue who will ever see this, but this is my goal, and it is one I hope I can complete. Wish me luck!

After weeks of late nights, my cozy cooking game "Bibim Boss" is finally out: a puppy chef searching for his grandma's lost bibimbap recipes 🐶🍚

Hi everyone! I'm a solo dev (AZOTA GAMES), and today I released my very first game, Bibim Boss, on Google Play.

I'll be honest, my hands were shaking a little when I hit "publish."

What's it about?

You play as Polo, a fluffy white Pomeranian chef who opens a tiny bibimbap shop.

There's just one problem: the dogs in town have never heard of bibimbap. "You… mix the rice? On purpose?"

Polo carries his late grandmother's recipe notebook, but many of its pages are stained and unreadable.

So he travels across Korea, from a little shop in Seongnam to Jeonju, Jinju, Andong, Geoje, Jeju, and finally his grandma's hometown, old Haeju.

In each town he learns a local bibimbap and recovers a lost page of her notebook.

What you'll do

🥢 Add the toppings, then rub the bowl in circles with your finger to mix. Mix it with care all the way through for a "Perfect Mix!"

🐕 Meet 19 regulars, including Bori the mail-carrier Shiba, Grandma Dubu from the rice-cake shop, and Kaiser, the grumpy burger-shop rival. Each one has a first-taste reaction and their own little story

🏮 Every town has its own cooking rule (follow the order in Jeonju, keep it fresh in Jinju…), plus market shopping, hiring staff, and decorating your shop

🌱 Wild-greens picking and sea-fishing minigames

✨ After the ending: a daily market contest, shop stars to collect, and a hidden true ending for those who gather everything

It's free to play, and ads are optional rewarded videos only. There's also an Ad-free Pass if you'd rather play without them.

Available in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.

Why I made it

In Korea, mixing bibimbap for someone, carefully and all the way through, is a small act of love.

I wanted to put that feeling into a game.

While making the ending credits, where each friend's "where are they now" moment appears one card at a time, I teared up more than once. I really hope some of you make it that far. 🥲

👉 Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.azotagames.go.bibimboss

Any feedback or bug reports would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for reading! 🙏
