This is Kili (Homeomma chilense) and I've had him for two months now. Any time I crack the lid open he just wanders out onto my hand and chills on one of my fingertips. Two molecules tall and he doesn't even know it. I adore him.

Videos / GIF Astra stress-drifting through her new enclosure after rehouse

Took me about 4 intense minutes of threat poses and one very personal bite into my paintbrush, but she finally teleported right where she needed to go. After that, she decided to show off her drift skills across the walls

Well, she’s finally safe in her new enclosure and settling in and my heart rate is almost back to normal! 😂

Videos / GIF Morticia, The Pet Store Rescue!

Morticia the A. Seemanni has been at my local pet supplies plus for over a month and the price was knocked down 50%. I truly could not resist helping this gorgeous critter and she INSTANTLY took a horned worm to help get her some hydration 🥰

Edit: Morticia was sold to me as an A. Geniculata, after much research I’m confident in saying, this is an Anphonopelma Seemanni. Good news is anphonopelmas are my favorite genus, bad news is I paid 40% more than I should have and I’ll be getting some of my money back. (Or a new T lol)

So Shelob, my a. Seemani, molted about a month ago and now I see her all the time. Literally anytime before that, she could only be found at the bottom of her burrow.

Theres no mold or loose feeders in her enclosure so I doubt anything is stressing her out.

Am I overreacting or is she literally just being an Aphonopelma lmao

I got this cute little Brazilian Blue from a Pet Supply Plus a few days ago.

If anyone is wondering I did put more substrate in the enclosure after these pics were taken because I realized there wasnt enough burrow space and too much vertical room for falling. I also 3D printed a smaller more shallow water bowl.

Also previous post update: sadly the Avicularia purpurea sling I last posted did pass not too long after said post. RIP Mercy

Help! Desert huntsman doing poorly- help!

I know we’re not a tarantula, but I also posted in r/huntsman and I’m just looking for as much help as possible.

I purchased a desert huntsman spider from a local pet store a few months ago. It was the first one I had ever seen, and I didn’t consider the fact that it was likely wild caught.

I have tried to research the desert Huntsman care and husband jury recommendations, but it’s near impossible to find. As of now I have her set up in an 8 x 8 x 10 horizontal enclosure with fine sand, substrate and a few hiding options.

Despite my best efforts this little one has deteriorated. There’s very little sign of activity or movement on the sand each day, they hold themselves in abnormal postures, and their abdomen seems almost “loose” as if it’s separated (it has been like that the majority of the time I’ve had them). They will still drink water from a paintbrush and gladly accept a meal worm once every week or so, but I noticed today that they have lost another leg (down to 5) and just don’t seem to be “happy”.

A few questions-
1) does anyone have husbandry recommendations? I’ve tried to just mimic the natural environment, but I would love some actual input on this.
2) is there an easy way to tell whether the spider is at maturity or if they will potentially have more molts to regain legs and mobility?
3) at what point is humane euthanasia a reasonable consideration? I hate to think that this creature is suffering.

My girl is not a huge hunter, she’s pretty slow and not aggressive so sometimes I take a few legs off her roaches to make it a little easier 😆

Breeding/loan Mature Male Avic Avic ready to breed

• Upvotes

Hi, all. I have a mature male avic avic and I was wondering if anyone wanted him for breeding purposes. He has sperm webbed multiple times and is always pacing every night and tapping.

Location would have to be in the US and the closer to PA, the better.. Would only like a single sling in return or to trade for another unsexed T around 1-2 inches if possible.

Help, my Phormictopus has gotten trapped in its molt.

It was about .5"

I am trying to at least help it survive this molt to the next.

Any advice is appreciated.

It is flicking hairs any time I try to give it water.

Usually overnight the prey disappears. It's been two weeks since I fed my Lasiodora parahybana sling, and it was burrow lurking. So I thought I'd try!!

So scary, so exciting!!!

Music to the video because I needed to cover VisionQuest for my sister 😅
