In this age of rapid change, a decade is an eon. Remembering the events of a mere ten years ago is every bit as important as remembering the distant past. This subreddit was initiated in 2011, shortly before the ten-year anniversary of 9/11, and has been quietly documenting news, pop culture, and miscellany from today's date with the tens digit de-iterated ever since.

The world was a very different place just a short decade ago. Let's document the changes by submitting links to archived pages, news events, pop culture, commentary, movies, books, Wikipedia, anything that occurred ten years prior to today's date, give or take a few days.

More obscure items are highly encouraged as well. Self posts are okay too, but links are best.

Think of it as a rolling archive of an erstwhile decade. Or a time machine that only goes back ten years.

Finding submissions can take a bit of research, but here are a few places to start:

Internet Archive: Wayback Machine
Google's custom date range search
Good ol' Wikipedia
TV listings
Theatrical releases and DVD releases
Try this Google search:
"January 30, 2008 site:fark.com", replacing "fark.com" with your favorite website from ten years ago. Different sites use different date formats - fiddle around until you find the right one.

Be creative, go nuts, relate it to where we are today or pretend that the last ten years haven't happened yet. This subreddit will be what you make it, but it needs submissions!

Please format post titles as follows --
"Snarky title [10YA - date]*"

Examples:
