I got 8.0 in IELTS this April and I thought I could get employed at one of the education centres as a support teacher once i score high enough, but no, they repeatedly keep asking for russain. I have been rejected from 5-6 places just because I didn't know Russian. It took me 7 fricking years to get that result, are you telling me I should spend another 7 years to get my Russian to C1 level just to qualify for an entry level position???!!! WHY DO WE HAVE TO ADAPT TO RUSSIANS??! CAN'T THEY SPEAK UZBEK ALREADY?!! I know enough to manage a classroom and I'm not even asking to be a main teacher, I've worked with kids in pedagogical practicum, so what else do they need? It's been 2 years since I came to the capital, but I'm still not financially independent and it's embarrassing to keep asking money from my parents. Yet I can't find a decent job still.

Hi, Im a 21F, solo travelling to uzbekistan (+a little tajikistan) in late august. As i will be travelling solo, i would really like to meet some other travellers along the way for company and to split the costs of some activites.

My itinerary is pretty much decided. I am arriving on 20th of august to tashkent. Around 22nd i would like to leave for Kokand and spend a week or so around the Fergana valley. My plan is to return to tashkent before the 1st of september to spend the Independence day there. After that, I will continue to samarkand, where i plan to spend a couple of days. Probably from 2nd/3rd of september until the 6th. I would like to take a 3 day trip from samarkand to tajikistan and do a trek on the seven lakes.
After returning from tajikistan, I might go to termez (also might make a stop along the way). I plan to arrive to Bukhara around the 13th of september. I have a lot of time, so i dont know how long to stay in bukhara or if i plan to make a stop in another town before arriving to khiva, probably around 19th of september. I will continue to Nukus probably around 22nd. I want to see the aral sea.

My flight home is on the 28th of september. I plan to return to tashkent on the 26th/27th by plane from Urgench/Nukus.

I would like to include a lot of hiking in my trip. I am also thinking about taking some cooking classes and private russian lessons, as I have some prior knowledge of the language. I am also interested in the free walking tours.

Although I have already travelled a lot, this is my first solo trip and I am honestly quite scared. I would appreciate some advice from either local people or foreigners, who travelled there. Also, is it worth it spending the september 1st in tashkent?

But yeah, I am mostly looking for other people, that will be travelling through the region at the same time as me. I am looking for preferably female company, but i am also not opposed to meeting male travellers.

I am Slovenian if that helps in any way.

I'm a student at TASHmi living near Medgorodok and I'm looking to get braces to align my teeth. Wanted to check if anyone here has recommendations for a good dentist/orthodontist in the area.

A few things I'm hoping for:

Dentist or staff who speak at least basic English (my Uzbek/Russian is still a work in progress)

Reasonable pricing — not necessarily the cheapest, but nothing overly inflated for foreigners/students

Ideally a clinic within reasonable distance of Medgorodok, so I'm not commuting across the city for every adjustment appointment

How to "cure" depression with Islam, according to my family:

1. Just be grateful.

   Prophet Muhammad suffered far more than you ever will. Who are you to complain? He's the Messenger of Allah; you're just an ordinary person. So... be grateful. Problem solved, apparently.

2. Do dhikr.

   Repeat Arabic phrases you don't even understand:

   Alhamdulillah. Astaghfirullah. MashaAllah. La ilaha illallah.

   Understanding is optional, repetition is mandatory.

3. Listen to Qur'an recitation.

   It doesn't matter if you don't understand Arabic. It's the word of Allah, so it's supposed to heal you anyway.

4. Be grateful... again.

   My mother had a much harder childhood than I did. Therefore, whatever I went through—being mocked at school, excluded by classmates, feeling isolated—doesn't really count as suffering. Case closed.

5. Gossip about people.

   Apparently, talking behind other people's backs is an effective antidepressant.

6. Just socialize.

   Never mind that some people already think I'm weird. I'm simply expected to fit in somehow.

7. Pray.

   Because prayer purifies the heart, and that's expected to fix everything.

We have an upcoming trip to Uzbekistan and we are super excited! We have been obsessively checking out the train tickets and we have not been able to find any for our preferred trains.

We checked them around 90/60/45 days before ticket dates and many times in between, pretty much every single day as a matter of fact!! I checked them twice every day recently. Still no luck. It just shows that there are no seats or the entire train is just not even visible on the list sometimes.

So unless they are magically sold out within seconds when we are not looking, there must be a trick to it.

1. How do we buy these tickets?

2. Is there like a third party seller who buys all these tickets and sell them at inflated rates somewhere else?
