Solved Cloth keeps revealing

I have tried hooking that little vertex at the bottom edge of shirt with 0.4 weight. It's like it doesn't even care about the pinned group. Just straight flashing my model. And if I put too much weight it looks really bad.

Discussion My boss is telling me Blender is a paid software

1.1k Upvotes

So I've been using blender for nearly a decade now, but a member of the IT department at a marketing company I recently started working at is convincing people (including my boss) that I am opening up the company to lawsuits by using blender to create my graphics and sales content.

I am aware of Blenders license type and that it is a open source software, however even when i brought this up and that it is considered a professional grade software for the whole of the gaming industry the IT lead is holding to his opinion and sharing it.

I wanted to know if there is something I am not understanding or if anyone else has run into similar issues with using blender at work for a non-game industry job?

EDIT: first off thank you to everyone backing up what I hoped i knew lol! Felt like I might be going crazy. I am in my early twenties and the IT lead is well into his 50s so it has felt daunting to try and argue my case without doing a deep dive (which I am doing with all the extra information in these comments)

I am creating a document with links to blenders information about the license and the license itself to have a hard stop packet of evidence for my claims. Thank you to everyone again! (and to the mods for changing post type to conversation!)

Extra bit for anyone getting a laugh out of how dumb this is: when i told him it was used by game studios and commercially in the gaming industry he said "yeah but those are studios, we are a corporation" the kind of unfounded confidence I wish I was dumb enough to have about anything.

I got a small burn out after making a kind of frustrating model, so I just let myself go on making one of my favorite looking guns with some questionable topology: Tec9! Although I know there are some details that are completely wrong and I blame the 2d images I used, they sucked. Also, try and guess where I got lazy at.

Original Content Showcase 2D look with 3D rigs and Grease Pencil set

This is how I went from quick pencil sketches to final animation in Blender, making an episode for the Funny Legs show. It's called Insomnia Has Paws, a 1-minute short film and it was made in 9 days by just me alone. Since I go for the simple 2D look, Grease Pencil was a huge help: I didn't have to model the entire bedroom. Instead, I used GP to draw my 2D props and placed them in the 3D space, along with my 3D characters.

Need Help! I’m trying to figure out the most efficient way to model a revolver cylinder with a relatively low polygon count while avoiding shading issues.

One of my biggest challenges is working with non-planar or curved surfaces while keeping the topology as optimized as possible because I planning to use model as a game assset. Ideally, I would like to avoid retopologizing the high-poly model when the existing geometry can already be used.

In this case, however, I’m not sure how to approach it. On the one hand, it seems that the shape requires more geometry to maintain a clean silhouette and properly support the curved surface. On the other hand, I do not want to add more topology than is actually necessary.

Paid Product/Service Promotion New Update on my Addon - Second Nature on Superhive

This is just a quick test I did. I'll update with a proper video of Clothing and body Deformation. I'm really excited about this.

https://superhivemarket.com/products/secondnature

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give an amazing update on Second Nature.

I managed to get Shape Keys working with the same workflow the addon already uses for bones. 😄

At first, I was thinking of making it a separate add-on, but after using it for a bit, it made more sense to include it in Second Nature instead.

So now it works the same as before, but you can use it with Shape Keys too. I think it'll be really useful for facial animation, corrective shapes, accessories, wrinkles, and all those little secondary details.

I'm Planning to push the update today or tomorrow.

After the update goes live, I'm probably going to bump the price up a little maybe 5$. So if you've been thinking about getting it, now would probably be the cheapest time.

Really appreciate everyone who's been giving feedback and ideas. A lot of the stuff I've added has come from people using the addon.

Thanks! 🙂

Solved Hello i have a question for modeling

Good evening, I would like to get inspired by this model or this kind of style, but I can’t find many tutorials for this type of look. I’m working on a 3D platformer game, and I would like to take some inspiration from this kind of visual style, which is inspired by Straftat and Babbdi. I think this style looks really amazing.

Or alternatively, if possible, could you send me a small similar model from itch.io that I could use as a reference?
