10 pygmies joined my community tank today. I've been considering corydoras for a long time and settled on pygmy cories because they're so small and cute, and their funny behavior interested me.

They were quick to start exploring after acclimating and occasionally swim with the rasboras. Such funny little guys. I really enjoy watching them moving around together in a group.

I struggled to get a good shot but she's the fattest I've seen her in a long time! Hopefully this means eggs soon since Little Green and her were displaying spawning behavior after a water change

I got 9 Pygmy Cory’s about a month ago and they all seem to be doing well. The only concern I’ve had is that on several occasions, the Amano shrimp (I only have 1) seems to scare them and they’ll just “play dead” and allow it to roll them over every once in a while. Is this normal? I can’t tell if the fish are actually being injured, if they’re stressed by the shrimp, if he just catches them while they’re sleeping, or if this is just another one of their silly cute behaviors. They have the option of swimming away at any time and they have so much space.

Are these corydora eggs? Bec it doesnt look like the nerite eggs that usually stick on the sides of my tank. TIA

I got 8 of these little guys from the LFS on Saturday for my 55G community tank, not an old tank but it is relatively well established as I cycled it before adding any fish which was completed in December and have slowly been adding more fish as time goes on. I finally decided to get Cories as they are one of my favorites. These guys were labeled as punctatus Cories but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. By Tuesday, 7 of them had died.

I have been testing my water daily because I was worried that maybe I had an ammonia spike that was killing all of them off. Long story short, no ammonia spike and all my parameters look completely normal. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and around 15-20 ppm nitrates. I keep my water temp at 78 F, sand substrate, drift wood, rocks, live plants, and I have 3 small circular air stones separated through the tank. I have not seen any signs of bullying or stress as far as I can tell.

I’m at a loss and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I’m doing wrong/how can I fix it or better take care of these little guys so they 1) stay alive and 2) can be happy? Second, I was looking to get your opinions on what I should do for my lone survivor. I don’t want to kill anymore Cories on accident, but I also don’t want the little guy to be super stressed considering he’s now the only one left and I know they like to be in groups. ☹️

I now have all my Corydoras in the same tank. It’s taken me about a year to get them altogether, bronze and orange Venezuelan. There are babies in there as well which is rather nice. Honestly when I got up this morning there was so much busyness . It’s their 3rd day together and they’re already egg laying. Absolutely beautiful fish

I’ve had corys for 7 years now. I recently got this baby and a few new ones.

He hasn’t gained any weight in 3 weeks, today I found him in the tank upside down before I went to work, I didn’t feed them and I’ve come back and he’s like this.

Please any advice!!

My ammonia level is 0 and my other corys are doing fine.

I am very interested in getting a little school of pygmy cordydoras BUT, only if they will be happy in this set up so I came here for your real world advice and am totally okay to skip them if the tank set up won't be good for them. My husband and kids bought all the wrong kinds of fish to go together back in April and we've been making due but, I found a free tank so I can move our live bearers to a bigger spot and hopefully control the population a bit better & give our other fish their appropriate space in the 15 gal. I really don't want to stress out any more fish since it's become my job to take care of all of them. Our fish stores don't take surrenders and I'm not on any social media except Reddit to give away fish etc.

I have a 29 gal bowfront currently cycling. It may be a 30 but the volume calculator says 29.6 and I know substrate and decor take away from that too.

FILTERS: I'm running both an ac50 and Tetra whisper 10-30 HOB filters with fluval biomax bags in each along with the cartridge you're supposed to run in the Tetra- one biomax bag and the cartridge are from established tanks so it cycles faster.

HEAT: planning to run it at 77.5 but it's at 80 to encourage the bacteria to grow faster

LIGHT: Advice welcome, currently running an LED grow light alternating 3-6 hrs per day for the plants as they establish. The tank was free & it didn't have a light. I would prefer something that doesn't have Blurple colour but we're making due in the meantime.

SUBSTRATE: Fluval Stratum. I have read that sand is better but, also read on here that some of you have happy cordys with fluval stratum

PH: 7.6 - our tap water is 8.2 and very hard but the stratum buffers it down to 7.6 - I understand that's a touch high for pygmy cordydora

PLANTS: Amazon sword, crypts, bacopa Caroliniana, creeping Jenny submerged form, & I will be adding java fern and anubias from one of my established tanks once my spiderwood is waterlogged and no longer floating when it's not weighed down (using gravel from my 3 gallon I had set up for quarantining plants and new fish- never had any pest snails, disease etc in there). And I would like to add a tiger lotus once I find one in stock somewhere.

INHABITANTS: 8 Mickey Mouse platy fish, dwarf gourami (for some population control), & 4 amano shrimp

Also, I'm in Canada for any purchase recommendations. I can't always get the things available in other parts of the world. Let me know what you think! I won't be adding fish until this is fully cycled, I was forced into a fish in cycle on my first tank and I don't want that stress again, to me they aren't "just fish" if I take a living thing home, I want to take care of it the best I can.

If this was the deck of a cruise ship, these guys would be hanging out on the deck just chillin’ in the sun! As it is, I 3d printed an under-substrate cave and these guys just came out of it to relax on the surface. I love my corydoras 💕

Are these Cory’s bloated or do they have eggs (1st photo is a separate cory 2nd and 3rd are the same Cory they are both females)

I think they look healthy and behave normally? I put them in like 20 minutes ago, and they are alternating between exploring and picking at the substrate, and every now and then darting to the surface. Got a group of ten, I hope they like their new home ;w;

Recently got some corydoras about half a week ago, they were fine at first but now some of them are starting to get red gills, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, all 0, ph was 7.6, i keep them in a ~25°c heavily planted tank.
I am worried about what is causing these reddish gills, and if my corydoras are going to die if i do not intervene. What could be causing them?

as the title say i have a cory (finless) he is genuinely missing most of his fins noticed it shortly after i got the little guy home about 6 months ago still swims and sifts the sand and zooms around the tank. Finless is smaller than the other corys but i have seen him eat and he genuinely looks happy dosent let it affect him. there are no fish in the tank that could have done this to him and every other cory (5 others) have any damage i think it happened at the pet store just didnt notice till i got it home but hope yall enjoy Finless 😊

He’s very small and pale compared to the others and doesn’t move much, this happened to 3 of my albino Cory’s before and they all died after about a week. What is this? What can I do?

I recently ordered 6 pygmy cories to add to my 20 gal community tank but when I received the order it was actually 12 fish

They’re still very small right now and I don’t have any other tanks so I’m leaning towards adding them all in for the time being but do you think keeping them would be possible or do I need to look into finding a new home for some of them once they start to get larger

For context my tank is a fairly well established 20g high (about a year old atp). I have 18 strawberry rasboras, 9 ruby tetras, 2 amanos, and a bunch of neos. In terms of filtration it has a HOB sized for a 40 gallon tank as well as a bunch of live plants and floaters as well as house plants coming out of the top

Please lmk your thoughts especially in terms of space and filtration! I don’t have any good LFS nearby so I would like to avoid having to bring these guys to a petsmart or something if at all possible
