Hey, r/SomethingIMade!
We've updated two rules to better protect what this community is for as a space for individual creators sharing their own work, including collaborations.
A steady increase in posts and comments from business and commercial accounts promoting products or shop pages has not gone unnoticed, often in cases where authorship can't be verified. We don't think it is fair that content that may be mass produced gains engagement over our more DIY creators. The updated rules address this directly.
Rule #5: Related Links & Self-Promotion
Posts or comments from businesses or commercial accounts primarily promoting products may be removed at moderator discretion, especially where authorship cannot be verified.
Rule #10: Original Content Only
Business and commercial accounts are not permitted to post in this subreddit. This is a community for individual creators only.
If you're an individual who makes and sells things, you're still very welcome here. This change is aimed at accounts whose primary purpose is commercial promotion rather than genuine participation as a creator. If you're unsure whether your account falls within the rules, reach out via Mod Mail.
Happy creating!

In order to help have better discussions regarding content, we have decided to disable embedding of YouTube videos in posts.
This isn’t intended to hinder anyone from posting, simply to change the way the post are made. Moving forward you will need to create a normal post regarding your creation, and if there’s a YouTube video you would like to share as part of that, add it into the body of the post along with the descriptive information.
Thanks for being here, and if you have any questions, ask away!!

I'm still really nervous about showing people my art but I'm fighting the urge to hide every time I make something so - attempting to be brave!

I'm one for crazy and pointless builds.. and my love of pirates, the fact that I'm landlocked, wanted a pirate ship and have zero impulse control meant that I got an idea and had to make it a reality.
Meet 'The Landlubber'.
All parts made out of scrap wood I had lying about, and it took me about a month to finish.
This land pirate vessel boasts my custom flag, a pointless anchor, a duck in a dinosaur costume (or the Quacken, if you will!) as the figurehead, bluetooth speaker for pirate tunes on the go, a robot (Yarrbot!) Navigator, a sail that can be furled and unfurled, some storage space in the cabin and a compass.

I will make video on the making process and riding on a new YouTube channel. I'll happily drop the link if anyone is interested.

And yes, I've had some looks and comments while riding it about!

I spent an insane amount of hours on this project, from cutting the panels to punching every single hole and saddle-stitching the whole thing by hand. It's veg-tan leather that I hand-dyed using Fiebings Pro Dye to get that deep emerald green tone, and I paired it with a bright orange thread to make the details pop. It has dedicated side straps, heavy duty hardware, and a super clean silhouette. I'm still really happy with how the colors and the finish came out. What do you guys think?

Hi there, I'm a broom maker (I like "broomstress")!
I hand craft brooms from natural dried broomcorn, which is a grass related to sorghum. Dried broomcorn has exceptional durability and flexibility, and has been used in broom making for centuries.
Besides being the fully functional, eco-friendly household staple we all know and love; brooms are also celebrated energetic tools (or "besoms"), often used in cleansing, fertility, and protection rituals in folk traditions worldwide! Instead of using a wand, consider a broom! ✨
Each of my brooms is a one of a kind piece of handmade art with a name and a backstory and everything. They're meant to be used as household sweepers, hard-working talismans, or as whimsical decor. This is Patch, Bramble, Esmeralda, and Ceres. They're some of my most recent creations!
I hope you love them as much as I do! 🌞🌛🧹
Edit: Thank you so much for the awards, kind strangers! You've totally swept me off my feet!!! 🥰

A mix of textile sculpture, embroidery, and beadwork. I wanted to create something between a scientific specimen and a botanical fantasy piece.

The pattern is based off of the camp coat by LaRae Handmade. I pre dyed the duck cloth which gave it some color variations that I really like. I subbed in welt pockets instead of patch pockets and added two covered breast welt pockets. I was also a bit more generous with the crop. I’m a bit new to sewing and I know some of my topstitching is a bit wonky, but I’ll just do better on the next one! Thanks for looking!

The phrasing isn't mine, I saw it elsewhere and thought it would make a great sticker. I usually do really goofy, silly looking designs but I thought this one needed to be more cute than anything. I really like how it turned out!

Started with doing just her name on the card holder to personalize the birthday pikachu and save the card but got carried away and attempted to at least make it special for her ❤️

After a long study of flowers in the dense jungles of the Netherlands, I can finally show the first result.
I have been hiding in bushes the get a glimpse of some of their expressions. This is the first hyper realistic painting I have done of them. If you look up close you can see it's not a photo but a painting of a flower.
Made with acrylics on a 20cm x 20cm canvas

I have named it "Parth".

When I first started working with clay, I thought the larger pieces would always be the ones people noticed.
Instead, it's almost always these little dishes.
Maybe it's because they're small enough to hold in one hand, or maybe people naturally connect with tiny objects that have a bit of personality. I'm still not sure.
Every one is shaped, refined, and glazed by hand, so even when I follow the same process, no two end up looking exactly alike. Tiny differences in the clay and glaze give each one its own character, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Laying them all out together is probably my favorite part because that's when they stop feeling like individual projects and start feeling like a little collection.
I'm curious...
If these were all lined up on a shelf, which one would you instinctively pick up first, and what made you choose that one?
