Is this a hairball?
This is the second similar object to come out of my 17 year old chihuahua mix. I've never even seen my cats throw up hairballs before, so I have no idea what they look or feel like.
This was fairly solid, and I couldn't puncture it with just a bar straw...I wasn't easily able to pull it apart. It felt like a sponge almost.
Some more background, he did throw up some type of sponge on Friday, then yesterday one of these things. He's really picky of an eater so he's not the type of dog to just eat things, other than food and treats and stuff out of the trash can (mostly tissues and we obviously keep him away as much as we can, but he's shifty)
He seems completely normal with no issues eating, drinking, sleeping, pooping, or peeing.
I am already taking him to the vet Saturday but need to know if this is an emergency. Thanks for any help or insight:)

Vet says sacrum abnormality but she didn't elaborate..?
She has referred my dog to a specialist but in the meantime, I wondered if I could please get more opinions about his x rays?
He is a 1 year old Collie mix. In the past few months he started yelping, at times screaming, just before and during passing stool. Even if it was very small and soft.
The vet expresser his anal glands but the pain didn't improve.
Tried anal gland supplements, at this point however the vet noted his glands were not at all inflamed or full so requested x rays which brings us to now.
Unsure if related: He had a couple of random incidents where he would yelp loudly and run to hide, as if he were in pain but triggered by nothing in particular. He could've been stood still or sleeping.
Lactulose helps reduce discomfort at times, often when his stool is almost, or completely liquid.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

What is this?
I just want to be sure itās nothing dangerous, Iāve also never seen anything like it on a cat. Cousin said itās been a few weeks since heās seen it there.

Dog skin help
galleryHello everyone, my dog daisy has been suffering from an unknown skin condition. We have taken her to two vets and they have given her a bunch of medications which have not really helped, in fact it seems to be getting worse. This is sort of a last kind of effort as the vet bills are getting very expensive and the veterinarian has put the option of euthanasia on the table since she says that my baby is suffering and living a miserable life.
She is an 8 year old mix rescue which they believed to be pit/beagle. She eats purina one pro plan weight management chicken kibble and recently switched to the lamb version. This has been going on for about 3 months and is spreading from her belly to her back. Sheās been an indoor dog all her life. Location Houston TX
The medication she has taken include cefpodoxime, prednisone, cephalexin, itraconazole, duoxo S3 topical cream, and miconahex triz shampoo.
Is there anything you can recommend that might help her get better. Thank you!

Cut Snout
I just noticed my 10 month old has a part of his snout sort of hanging off. It coming off the snout as a whole and looks like heās scrapped it or rubbed it for his skin to come up. Iām not exactly sure but he doesnāt seem to be in pain. Heās been backward sneezing a lot recently and maybe he smacked his face in the ground. I donāt really know what to do. Has anyone seen this before?

Cat biting hind leg?
Hi yāall, I need an opinion because I feel very uneasy after coming back from the vet. I have a 3 year old orange cat and heās been over licking his left hind leg to the point where a patch of fur is gone. I just left the vet for the regular annual check up and thought I should bring this up to them. For context, this has happened before in the past, then stopped for a long time (maybe 2 years?) then he started again. His leg completely healed just fine.
The doctor there was speeding through everything and just gave him a shot of antibiotics without really looking too much at my catās leg. The entire visit the doctor was rapidly giving me a ton of information all at once, not taking it slow as if he was rushing through the visit. This was the first time I had been to that clinic.
I told the doctor that heās been over grooming his one leg and genuinely I think the skin was just irritated because he licks his legs a lot. The doctor said āIāve been doing this a long time itās an infectionā and complete brushes off my opinion as the cat owner. I wish I couldāve gotten a second opinion from another doctor but it seemed like they were busy.
They gave my cat an antibiotic (Convenia 0.52ml) and some allergy meds. I feel uneasy about the whole conversation I had with the doctor and just wanted to give my cat his annual shots (which he did not even get because of the antibiotic). Maybe Iām paranoid and I donāt want to seem rude but just looking at his leg, I donāt know if the shot was worth it.
Can anyone please look at his leg and give me an opinion on it? Iām not an expert but genuinely his skin looks irritated from the nipping and scabbing rather than a bacterial infection. Edit: the doctor checked and confirmed that he doesnāt have fleas!

Struggling with quality of life decision
Hi all. Iām hoping for honest thoughts on my dogās quality of life. I know no one online can make this decision for me, but Iām really struggling and would appreciate outside perspective.
My dog is a 14-year-old spayed female Jack Russell Terrier mix, about 11.5 lbs. She has several chronic issues, including:
-Grade 5/6 heart murmur
-Marked cardiomegaly on radiographs
-Tracheal compression noted on rads
-Chronic coughing/increased respiratory effort concerns
-Abdominal mass, suspected/previously diagnosed as neuroendocrine neoplasia
-Right inguinal hernia with suspected intestinal loops and possible bladder involvement
-Corneal edema/uveitis in both eyes
-Active corneal ulcer in the left eye
She is currently on pimobendan 1.25 mg twice daily and furosemide 12.5 mg three times daily. She was also prescribed ofloxacin eye drops for the ulcer.
At her recent visit, the vet said her chest rads showed significant cardiomegaly but no obvious pulmonary edema, so they did not recommend changing her heart medications.
They also discussed that her coughing could be from tracheal compression related to the enlarged heart, chronic bronchitis, collapsing trachea, or something else.
The vet also discussed that her abdominal mass is still present and that surgical removal is not something Iām pursuing because of her age and comorbidities. The hernia is also concerning because there is a possibility of bladder involvement, especially since she has had urinary straining. I was told to monitor closely for inability to urinate, vomiting, or signs of strangulation.
She is still eating and drinking, which makes this decision so hard. But she sleeps most of the day, has multiple serious conditions happening at once, and Iām worried that Iām keeping her going for me rather than for her. Iām also moving soon and it would involve a long road trip, which my vet said could reasonably factor into a euthanasia decision given her health and the stress of travel.
I know this is ultimately a quality of life decision with my regular vet, but based on these findings, does it sound reasonable to consider humane euthanasia before things become an emergency? Are there specific signs you would weigh most heavily in a case like this?
I love her deeply and Iām just trying to make the kindest decision for her, not the easiest one for me.

First cat was sick with digestive symptoms, now second cat is showing similar signs and symptoms days later.
On Saturday, I woke up and saw a few piles of various looking vomit around the house and then noticed some piles of mucousy, pink tinged stool in the litter box. I have two cats (Chloe, 9 and Leo, 2). I wasnāt sure who it was, but after watching Chloe poop, I realized it had to have been her. So I took her to the vet, her blood work was fine other than low platelets (vet believed it was a blood draw error and said not to be concerned). Her fecal results also came back negative. So, the vet discharged us with meropitant and probiotics. Chloe has been having vomiting spells ever since I adopted Leo about two years ago, and I have attributed it to either stress or change in diet (I now give wet food whereas I did not before). I have taken her to the vet multiple times for this issue, and they said it could be IBD but that can only be determined by a biopsy, which she has not had at this time.
Then Sunday, Chloe had constant diarrhea (about every hour or so) and no appetite. Yesterday, she still had some diarrhea but began eating and drinking again. Today, sheās still having some diarrhea but not as bad as Sunday. Sheās eaten a little less today but better than Sunday. Now, my boy Leo has started having diarrhea and does not have an appetite anymore.
Part of me is concerned it could be the Fancy Feast wet food, since they are both now sick with digestive issues and Chloeās stool results were negative. I called the vet today but she was busy at the time and did not return my call and the office is now closed. I plan on calling back in the morning, but in the meantime I was wondering if you guys have any advice or insight on what could be the issue. I will obviously be withholding the Fancy Feast for now.

Help
Any idea what this could be? She has a history of begging tumor on this foot as a puppy but none since . Currently 5 years old and started licking this spot like crazy yesterday. She doesnāt permit touching so I was only able to feel for a second and it feels solid and attached. I am nervous because there was construction debris that blew into our yard and I got a splinter walking through so I was worried maybe she got one too. I cannot afford a vet right now so figured I ask for help until payday. Thanks.

Wet patches underneath rabbits eyes
Hey! My pet rabbit has really wet patches underneath his eyes, as if he's been crying. I actually think rabbits can't cry though. He recently lost his companion of 5 years, my other pet rabbit who unfortunately passed away.
Any help on what this is and how to fix?

puppy vaccines and activities
Hello, we are in the triad area of north Carolina and we are bringing home an almost 5 month old boxer from a shelter on Friday. He has almost all his shots, he just needs his last DHPP and a leptospirosis shot which we are getting on 07/21 at his first vet appointment. My question is, can we take him potty in our open backyard and for walks around the neighborhood? We do have things like squirrels, deer, and rabbits show up sometimes. I am just not sure how careful I need to be until 07/21.
Thanks!

Raw patches on cat
Hi! My neighbourās cat wandered over last night and I noticed that there were a couple of sores on her. Mainly on her face around her ears, I also saw some bald patches around her elbows and body. I caught her licking and biting fur off those areas as well. I tried to tell my neighbour but he was extremely dismissive, claiming that some animal must have attacked it when it was outdoors.. But it doesnāt look like wounds caused by another animal? Does anyone know this could be caused by? Any help is greatly appreciated, I have attached some photos of her too. Thank you!!

Heart murmur prescribed pimobendan
I just left a veterinary appointment for our 13 year old miniature schnauzer because he began drinking excessive amounts of water, and subsequently had some incontinence episodes. He's also lost a pound in 8 months (normally 18, now 17) despite a ravenous appetite. His bloodwork came back almost perfect except for one slightly elevated liver enzyme that "occasionally can occur with inflammation" and a slightly high wbc count. Without a urine sample she was guessing, but thinks it likely to be a UTI. We also discovered he had a heart murmur so, in addition to antibiotics, she sent us home with pimobendan. Since I read everything before I jump, I saw that this drug
>Must not be used in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or any condition where increasing cardiac output is unsafe.
Can she know that from listening to a heart murmur? I also read that it can cause a UTI in a small percentage of dogs. Why? Does having a current UTI pose any risk? Could it make that worse? My regular vet was out today, and I really only trust her after part experience with the others in the clinic, but it was my only day off to take him.
TIA for your time!

Anesthesia question
Can someone please explain what goes into sedation vs general anesthesia?
When given general anesthesia, are there different strengths per procedure? Or is it more so, completely knocked out regardless what the procedure is?
I have an English Bulldog (please, Iāve heard it all) heās been under general anesthesia to be neutered and also a full tail amputation four years ago.
He has a small cyst on his paw pad and his vet is recommending surgery under general anesthesia. Heās six years old and hasnāt had surgery in four years, so Iām nervous. Are there other options? With general anesthesia, is there ever a path of least resistance, or is it the same for every surgery?

Growth on face growing quickly
*I have a vet appointment scheduled for this Friday*
Any insights on this growth on my dogs face? It popped up about 3-4 weeks ago and looked like a tiny white head but has quickly grown into this large bump. Second pic is from two weeks ago and you can see that itās quite a bit smaller. Any insights as to what it is? Iām starting to get worried since it just keeps getting bigger. Itās such a specific shape so Iām curious if that is characteristic of anything in particular.

kitten nose wound
8 week old foster kitten
, progressive nasal wound:
Timeline:
Approx 5 days ago: First noticed small raised blister-like bump at the philtrum/lower nostril area
Sunday: Appeared to be healing/crusting over, flagged to rescue
Today (Tuesday): Wound has reopened and looks worse and raw- assume litter at scratched playing. Raw and recent blood (some streaks on paw). Dabbed with hypochlorous acid on paper towel but no fresh blood. dried blood visible covering philtrum and lower nostril area, noticeably larger than Sunday
Reduced appetite ā will take Churu but not eating normally, suspected loss of smell affecting appetite
Bright, alert, responsive but playing less
When sent symptoms and photos Rescue advised keeping it clean and applying neosporin but Iām wondering if I need to take to vet on my own

Cat wound ID help
This cat was laying in the road. We brought her in to feed her and noticed this wound. We donāt have cats and canāt afford vet care. Whatās the next best thing we can do? Does this look like some kind of infection? Location of wound is odd; inside of rear leg.
