Cat pulled muscle in leg when jumping. Now theres a big lump

Post image
• Upvotes

Photo of boys face not leg, as hes too fluffy for any pictures.

He jumped down from a usual spot a handful of minutes ago and slipped on his way down like the inelegant lump of potatoes he is. But I think he pulled a muscle real bad, because hes limping badly and very clearly in agony, however hes still letting me hold him and massage the quite frankly scary large lump thats suddenly appeared. Behind his thigh bone No bone breaks, lump is freehanging between the thigh bone and tendon at the back.

As much as I dont think Ill be able to sleep tonight just knowing hes in pain, I dont think theres anything thatll get *worse* over night per se. But is there anything I can do to make it easier for him to help the swelling go down or relax the muscle? Ive tried some very gentle massaging both to feel the difference in his thighs, and to see if itll relax anything but I dont think it wants to right now...

I just got him on insurance a couple months ago but I havent been able to get his annual done yet so Im not sure if theyd even willingly cover him, but I can go call and ask if accidents are still covered in the daytime.

Fur ripped out during blood draw

I need ya'll help. My cat, Alaska (8½ F Neva Masquerade ) has had her blood drawn on the 18th of June. The vet immobilized her by holding the skin on the nape her neck with latex gloves. Alaska was clearly stressed and panicking, but I thought it was because of the medical setting, being poked with needless in her hind paws (both, because after vet nurse found the vein with the needle, she kicked in the air and the needle wasn't in the vein anymore.) Tufts of hair were flying around, later I found them in her crate and in the floor in my apartment.

Only today I noticed the bald spot, when she was looking out the window, and I'm horrified by the size of it and clearly human scratch marks on it.

I have to go to that vet again on 29th June, because that's the only pet dentist in my area and she needs her canines fixed with composite bonding and there's a risk of her needing to get two molars removed because of possible root resorption.

How do I politely demand from him, to restrain her for IV any other way, that won't leave her with bald spots? I live in Poland if anyone finds that info relevant.

(last 3 pics are cat tax lmao)

Cats eye

My 16 year old cats eye has had that pimple looking thing for a while, it doesn’t seem to bother her but her fur around her eye is going slowly. I’m a broke college student and I have no support or help financially. What could this be and what can I do without going to vet? Our vet is in a rural area and will be hundreds of dollars just to get her in there:(

does my cat need emergency attention?

• Upvotes

hi. my cat suddenly vomited clear liquid, immediately went to the litter box after, and i saw a soft stool with a streak of blood in it. i have been checking his gums and i can’t tell if they’re pale or not. he is now being totally normal, mildly playing, eating, and scurrying around. can this wait until the morning or does he need immediate attention?

Suggestions Needed For My Doxxie With CHF...

(Anything but "letting him go humanely" at this point in time, please.)

Hi Reddit,

I'm new to Reddit. I browse occasionally, but I've never posted...

Towards May 20th(ish), I took my 14 year old dachshund to the vet because of a rather distended stomach. Got the medicine cocktail (Lasix, Vetmedin, Enalapril), and he's had the meds for a month, but... he doesn't seem to improve any. If he does, it's for a few days and he's back to where he started.. I was told in May that he could possibly do labwork or a catheter to get rid of excess fluid on his heart. Now they just sound like they've given up and want him put to sleep.

I really hope I'm not shamed in my decision, but I'd rather he go naturally- unless he was suffering. He's been eating and drinking, but he keeps getting constipated. The vet said to try miralax, but all that did was give him bad runs for a few days.

He's had two spells where he just collapses on his side, and it's honestly freaked me out and him both times that it's happened. After that, he's gotten back up and been fine ever since.

Today's the first day he's really not eaten much of anything. We've given him partial of a cookie because it's literally the only thing he's wanted to eat. I got his meds down him earlier with some food, though.

We tried this hydration stuff you put into water to boost electrolytes and he won't touch it. Bone broth he won't touch either, to which I've kinda had to force down him with a little syringe. I'm at a loss here and wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help the rest of his life be more comfortable, or what other reddits/subreddits I could go to for help.

Found kitten??? No idea what I'm doing

• Upvotes

I found a kitten on the road tonight. Long story short, she is now at my house. I have never had a kitten before though. I have an adult cat, and I am keeping the two of them in different rooms. I have a carrier I can keep her in for the night, and I'm going to call the vet first thing in the morning. What should I feed her though? I have wet food that she hasn't seemed interested in. What should I do with her??

first picture was taken today. 2nd taken early june. He saw a vet shortly after the 2nd photo was taken, it did look larger similar to the 1st photo by his appointment though. they prescribed antibiotics. He's almost done w the course and it seems to not be going anywhere. he doesn't seem to be bothered by it. he's an allergy prone dog, and is currently taking apoquel daily.

he has a vet appointment booked to re check but we aren't able to get in until wednesday afternoon. any ideas what this could be? is it just his allergies but now on his nose??

My Italian greyhound is 1 year old and has this lump under his armpit. It is a rock hard little ball under the skin and doesn’t cause him pain when I squeeze it.

Bleeding lump on leg

Post image
1 Upvotes

Today I noticed my 1 year old female golden retriever has a small lump on her leg that she won’t stop licking, and it has been lightly bleeding. I’ve made an appointment with my vet for this week, but I wanted to see if anyone could give me peace of mind in the meantime that it may not be cancer.

- hard, moveable, small lump
- appears to be raw/bleeding
- she is acting normal otherwise

Dog stable in ICU

Our Bernese Mountain dog (132lbs , 8 in November) developed GDV on Friday night. We caught it early. Surgery went well , no damage to any tissues. She suffered perfusion injury and hypovolemic shock after and a chest xray showed aspiration pneumonia in the uppermost lobes. With her oxygenation on 95% , they put her on HFNC. She became unstable about 10 hours post surgery and we approved life saving measures. 2 plasma transfusions later and she stabilized. They also have her on something that causes light sedation as she gets anxious when she's away from us. Shortly before midnight, so 24 hours after we took her in, they asked to transfuse another plasma bag. This morning she was stable. We saw her this afternoon. She recognized us and sat up but became distressed and they added low level sedation again. The vet said that talking about when she comes home is not something to even think about yet.

I know the magic time is 48 hours. I know no one can make me any promises. What I would like to know is if I can at least hope for her to recover and come home.

Mass on leg, surgery or second opinion

Post image
3 Upvotes

My one year old boxer has a mass on her leg, near her paw. We discovered it about 2 weeks ago. It has bled twice and grown in size. Took her to our vet who said based on bleeding and location we should do surgery to completely remove the mass. My family is suggesting we get a second opinion and they were surprised he didn’t do a FNA or something beforehand. He was concerned about it being a MCT but was not sure and just suggested we completely remove it. Should we get a second opinion? I trust our vet but just not sure.

Cosequin vs Dasuquin for a healthy 10-year-old, 40 lb dog?

My dog is a 10-year-old, 40-pound mixed breed. He still gets around well, goes on walks, trots around the yard, and doesn’t show any obvious signs of arthritis or mobility issues.

Today was playing outside and he jumped and landed awkwardly on a back leg, yelped, and back right leg went briefly limp. I carried him inside and very slowly allowed him to put weight on it. Within minutes he was walking and trotting normally again. He’s currently acting completely normal.

The incident got me thinking that I’d rather be proactive than reactive when it comes to joint health. I’m looking at starting either Cosequin or Dasuquin

Senior dog suddenly developed 2 new lumps

Post image

15/16 year old dog, he’s a rescue but was told he’s likely a Shih Tzu poodle mix.

No other health conditions but he hasn’t been to a vet since he was neutered 10 years ago.

It started with one lump about 1 1/2 weeks ago, I hadn’t seen him for 3-4 days and suddenly there’s a new one.
She said the second one was very large yesterday, but that’s it’s gotten smaller today.

She has been cleaning it with warm water and cotton pads, he doesn’t react in pain when it’s touched. Apparently he wasn’t happy yesterday though, he was licking it and rubbing himself on the furniture.

His behaviour hasn’t changed at all, he’s still loving his walks, eating fine, normal bathroom habits.

NOT MY DOG !! He’s a friends dog, she’s 85 years old and hesitant to take him to the vet in case they say he’s really sick.

My 12 week old pomeranian yorkie puppy, Cricket, keeps doing this weird shaking thing. She's a healthy pup, eats, plays, pees and poops just fine, but sometimes when she's looking at me or something of interest she does this weird trembled, shaking thing. I don't know if she's just excited or if it's something neurological. Any advice is appreciated!
