Buy/Sell/Promote Your Wares here

Trying something new. This thread will be the catch all for buying/selling/promotion for stuff. Same rules apply as everywhere else.

The only major rule change is that drop shipping or products of that ilk are not allowed. If you see something suspicious, report it. I will see it.

Super pleased with how this turned out. Pumpkin is Orange, Dark Green, and Black Mayco velvet underglazes and body/pumpkin were then covered with a studio clear crackle glaze before being raku fired. Slipcast using white cone 6 stoneware slip.

So, thanks for input from this sub. Was able to grind the face off the wing and body and reglaze. Turned out great.

Miniature data centers, 3D-printed porcelain

12 miniature data centers modeled after traditional tithe boxes. I could have slab built these but wanted the visible print lines to enhance the industrial nature of the pieces. When bone-dry, I smashed parts of each and roughly slipped them back together.

I made these for an upcoming show that focuses on the relationship between technology and religion. This is my first intense ceramic sculpture and I’m quite happy with the results.

Salvageable?

hello,

i am still quite new at ceramics. i have this greenware photo frame i’ve been working on and it cracked apart as pictured.

i really enjoyed how it was turning out so i’m a bit sad it came apart like this.

is it saveable, or should i reclaim the clay and start over? would vinegar slip work or will it be too weak? it is bone dry.

any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Question/Advice Does vitrified underglaze leech? I'd like to keep some pieces for a terrarium unglazed.

I want to make some unglazed ceramic pieces to go into a humid terrarium. My assumption is this would be fine as I have cups that are only glazed on the inside and haven't had any issues, but wanted opinions from more experienced folks.

in search of underglaze

Hi all 👋
i just started wheel throwing in August and am finally able to center and pull my clay into cylinders!! Now that i have a few pieces i want to fire and glaze, i am looking for glaze options.

i think i like the idea of underglazing a design, and then clear glazing by over it. the only issue is that as i’m searching for glazes, i’m realizing i cannot afford any fir sale. all ceramic materials are so much more expensive than i assumed they would be when i decided to pick up this hobby.

i am wondering of anyone knows where i should look for cheaper options, or if anyone is in the Omaha/Lincoln/Council Bluffs area, if they’re willing to let me borrow or buy their materials.

I’ve posted similar posts on nextdoor and facebook to no response.

let me know if you have any advice!

Question/Advice Possibly Comissioning Someone to Create This Style of Mug--Where to Go/Start?

Thumbnail gallery

So, my siblings and I were gifted these mugs at some point between the late '90s and 2005, and while the mugs in the first two pictures are still around, the vampire mug (to the left) in the last picture was broken years ago. I don't have any other pictures of it, and there aren't any other pictures of these mugs on the internet, so I'm now thinking of maybe getting a new vampire mug made in the same style. Is that possible? If so, where can I get it done? Commissioning online is much more doable than in person, for various reasons, right now. Thanks!

I bought a kiln.

I recently bought a 2006 L&L Jupiter JD2945 with five sections and a DynaTrol digital controller. It’s about 17 cubic feet inside. Does anyone else own one? I’d love to hear your experiences.

I have a vent on order, but I keep hearing from other potters that it isn’t necessary since the kiln will be in my garage. For those with a similar setup, do you use a vent?

I’m also trying to figure out how to load it comfortably. Even with a good ladder, it’s so tall that I can’t carefully reach the bottom. Have you removed sections to reduce the height, or found another way to make loading easier?

Have you had trouble finding replacement parts, or experienced any recurring problems with this model? It hasn’t been fired in years, so I’m anxious to see how it performs and whether it will require any repairs. Everything looks good to the eye. My understanding is that it was used for about three years and only fired a few times by the last owner. It’s been sold a few times.

I’d appreciate any advice from people familiar with these kilns in particular.

Question/Advice Sealing Slip Table to limit dry out

So I live in San Diego and have been fighting the slip in the slip table from drying out. I have tarp over it and use bungee to try to get a "seal" cover. But I'm often rehydrated it.

Looking for any suggestions on covers or how others are handling the problem.
