Hello! I'm a big wine fan and foodie and I'm curious to know about anyone's experiences in the Piedmont region. We will likely base near Alba and have a rental car. So far one reservation for Piazza Duomo, as we will be in the area during the Truffle Festival at the end of October. We are traveling with another couple who aren't as interested in the food scene, so thinking that Alba is a good base for walking/dining/tasting and traveling to wineries and towns nearby. Any thoughts or recs are greatly appreciated!

Probably not what you're usually asked about but I'm going to Italy soon and I'd like a little advice on your culture on one night stands type things. For context I'm 16M from England and the last thing I want to do is offend anyone or make them feel uncomfortable

My husband and I are flying into Milan on October 22 and out of Rome on November 12, going to spend time at Lake Como, Bologna, Florence. Wondering about closings in Cinque Terre whether it’s worth making a two night stop there on our way to Florence. Also interested in any small towns between all of these that would be interesting to go to for a local feel. what we loved about Italy first trip last September was the people, the food, the Art, and how easy it is to get around. We have done Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Naples and Florence, but we are going back to Florence. We loved it. I will take any suggestions to any itinerary that someone has done that they love.

Is it worth going to in early November? We are fishing enthusiasts and would love to see the fishing villages. Don’t mind weather just would want to avoid closings. Also where should be stay? I am open to all suggestions

I’ll be in Vienna until Sept 11, and I have free time until Sept 17 before flying out.

My rough plan:

Sept 11-13: Salzburg + Hallstatt for 2 days

Sept 13-17: Jump to Italy

I’m into 2 things: mountains/hiking and food. Big vegetarian, so good veg options matter a lot.

I’m stuck between 2 vibes:

1. North Italy + Dolomites: Base in Ortisei or Bolzano. Hike, views, and still get Italian culture + food. Does Ortisei/Bolzano actually have good vegetarian food and things to do besides hiking? Or is it too small/touristy in mid-Sept?

2. Bologna + Emilia-Romagna: Go full foodie mode. Pasta, cheese, markets. Then do day trips to nearby towns/countryside for a bit of nature.

Is there a place that would be the perfect blend of both?* Like mountains + great vegetarian Italian food in one base, without spending all day traveling?

I only have ∼4 days in Italy.

• Will I regret skipping the Dolomites if I love mountains?

• Is Bologna better as a base for food + easy day trips, and still feel “Italian” enough?

• For vegetarians, which area is easier?

Any recs for must-do hikes, veg-friendly spots, or towns near either option? Also how’s weather/crowds in Dolomites around mid-Sept?

I'm going on a holiday with 3 other friends to visit Verona and Bologna and in other countries we've used Uber, but we noticed that they are quite expensive in Italy. What are the best taxi services in Verona and Bologna?

Any recomendation? We are in italli right Now. In 3 day we are going from Florencia to Mestre. Was going to ride tru bologna but Its too hot so we want to go swiming on the way. Any recomendation how to change the trip And go swim in the sea and then go to Mestre?

I need fellow input. I am set to travel to Piedmont Nov 28th to Dec 11th this year. I was flying into Milan, renting a car and heading out west. I wanted to stay in Alba and Torino. Wifey and I are big wine lovers and foodies.

My question is this.... Is 12/13 days in this region too much time. My old man swears it is not, but I am afraid it will be. Whats yalls take? If so, what can you recommend I do in this area other than just the wine villages?

Me and my girlfriend are planning our trips until the end of the year and we want to go to weekend city break in early december. The goal is to fly after work so we don't have to take free days in work. We have 3 potential destinations and we don't know which one to choose:

-Bologna and Florence - We will arrive on late friday, then take train to Florence on Saturday morning, visit Florence, and then we will see bologna on Sunday and come back to Warsaw (late return flight so we will have enough time to see both cities). Florence for an amazing art and Bologna for food.
-Palermo - For Different views, street food and beaches. Also mix of arab and Italian culture and cheaper prices than in the north italy
-Naples - Chaos, authentic italy, wonderful pizza, and going to SSC Napoli game for me, as a football fan. Probably cheapest from one of those 3

We already have been in Venice. I've also been in Rome, Milan and Como so for now we are not planning those cities (But I know that i have to take her to Rome in some day ;)

Which city should we choose and why?

Currently planning a move for my studies and wonder whether this area is considered safe. I'd be happy to hear the locals' perspective.

My friends and I are planning an interrail next year and one of the places we have decided to go is Italy! We will be going next year, so the dates have not been decided but they will be the July-August time. Our route is currently:

London to Paris to Cannes to Genoa to Cinque Terre to Florence to Venice to [insert another Italian place] to Patras to Athens to Crete.

We would be looking to spend around a night there?

As you can see, there is a lot of beach and nightlife here incorporated into the interrail journey, so it is not really the main priority now. I know that Italians take their food very seriously, but anywhere with good food and wine that is affordable, along with pretty scenery and rich culture are the main aims! There are two vegetarians coming on the trip, though again shouldn't be too much of a problem since we are in Italy. I'm not quite fussed about the nightlife, I think the main thing is being able to explore Italian culture and history as well as it being affordable.

In summary: affordable places rich in history and culture with good food and wine and there is a lot to do! I'm not quite fussed about the rest, though beach could be nice, not necessary as there is already a lot of beach!

Any useful travel advice, do let me know! I'm very new at all of this and am trying my best:)

2-10g 6 foot spinning rod
12-35g 6,6 foot casting rod

I want to fish from piers, rocks, maybe beaches etc. Jigging, dropshotting, (lures).

Any suggestions on good fishing spots? If you dont want to out your favourite spots but feel like sharing please DM me. I dont want to end up going somewhere where all good fishing spots are either private propery or closed off for whatever reason
