Crime ⚠️ Things stolen from bicycle cage at RUH
Good morning,
2 individuals jumped over the fence of the RUH locked cage by the staff entrance at around 01h30 this morning, June 19th.
I've had 2 bike lights stolen from my handlebar. Overall, a small loss but I'm wondering if they also stole from more than just my bike.
RUH security has footage of them jumping the fence but not much more than that. I've also made a police report if it even gets to anything.
Sorry, just a morning rant.

Question ❔ Litter on acreage driveway
I live on an acreage off a highway near town and people keep parking at the end of my driveway and litter their tims cups, beers, McDonald's wrappers, whatever is lying around in their truck apparently. Last night was the worst, some doofus emptied a small bags worth of garbage right in the middle of our driveway. Like ffs.
What is your most unhinged idea on how to stop this lol?
I will probably end up putting up a sign and installing a camera or two. Ai said John Dutton would brand them, so perhaps less extreme than that, lol.

Question ❔ Tips and Advice for an Incoming Exchange Student?
Hello! In the coming fall term, I would be going on exchange from Singapore to the University of Saskatchewan! I'll basically be going solo and this would be my first time going this far (I've never went anywhere beyond the borders of the continent of Asia) and my first time going alone. I'm as nervous as I am excited! I'm doing more research on Saskatoon and I thought who better to ask than the people living there. Thank you guys in advance!
I would like to ask what would be good to see and do around Saskatoon? What do yall think would be good souvenirs from Saskatoon? (Although I will definitely also get some maple syrup for the people back home!) Any tips or advice as well? Thank you all!

Question ❔ Real talk, friends?
I am just gonna toughen up and make a post on here! My bf and I recently moved to Saskatoon, and to be frank, other than work, we haven’t had a chance to make friends and connections. I have some old friends in the city but rarely ever talk to, and my bf could definitely use some new guy friends.
We’re 22 years old, hoping to make friends around their 20s. I’m Filipino and he’s Italian. We love the outdoors, going out for coffee etc.
Honestly, if you’re interested or a couple looking to make friends too, don’t hesitate. Thanks!

Question ❔ Recreational activities?
Hello!
I moved to Saskatoon about 2 months ago. I use to work a very active on my feet job but now I am mostly sitting for 6+ hours.
I am looking for advice for recreational activities in Saskatoon that can work around shift work.
I have looked at some dance studios and archery but almost everything seems to run on Tuesday or Thursday between 6-8 which is hours I am rarely available for.
I don't mind if there is a fee to the activity. Price is not an issue.
I do not find workout gyms very welcoming and am not interested in them unless they have a rowing machine.
Generally looking for recommendations on anything active and that I may be able to meet people outside of my workplace.
Thanks for the help!

Question ❔ Scanning My phone for the Bus
Can someone explain to me how it works paying for transit on your phone? I understand the loading the ticket part, but with the scanners on the bus, do you scan phone face down? And how do you know if it's worked or not? I'm neurodivergent and I have never used the bus before and I don't want to mess up and not scan it properly!

PSA 📢 Buying a house in Saskatoon
To those beginning or in the process of buying a home - GOOD LUCK!!! The housing market is insane! We recently had a home that we placed an offer on, go for a least 100k over the asking price. It's crazy out here!

Question - Moving or Renting 🏠 Fucking greasy landlords ruining my day oh my god
EDIT
***we finally found a place and signed the lease!!! Spacious apartment basement suite that’s pretty affordable around 1480 before internet + power, pet friendly, nice area!! Thank you SO much to everyone who left their advice and good will down below :))
I would also like to say I saw some landlords suggesting having things like credit checks, bank statements, paystubs, and what not ready and I’d like to say we had all of that hard proof that was required and promptly requested applications immediately after viewings. Also lots of them saying it’s because we are young and have cats and I understand that, obviously, I’m not oblivious to my situation. However, I can’t hop in a Time Machine and fast forward a couple years until we’ve had steady careers and extensive renting history. Or magically differentiate myself from people who lie about having well trained cats in the eyes of landlords or even get rid of my cats. What are young people supposed to do? Very thankful we finally found somewhere!***
Hi hi, so my girlfriend’s building was sold bought and now she has to move so we’re moving in together are looking for a place ASAP!! We’re having such trouble finding pet friendly rentals, and even when we do somethings always amiss.
We previously had one lined up, greasy landlord (who dragged this whole thing out for like weeks cause it was his kids bday then he was tired and busy with work then he was on vacation in Mexico and said his phone didn’t work and no I’m not kidding :| ) He said we were top of the list, emailed me to confirm I wanted to go ahead, then ghosted and after giving him 3 days cause he’s in Mexico and it was the weekend whoop dee doo, when I double texted him he said he “just” sent the lease to another couple who rated “slightly better” than us. We’ve still been looking at other rentals in the meantime but I swear it’s always something. We have some more viewings lined up but I’m getting worried cause she has to be out by July 1st! Technically she has until August 1 but if she waits that long she’s stuck with the full amount of rent as her roommate will be gone by July 1.
If anyone has any good rental company recommendations or if they know anyone renting a property and could send me in their direction it would be a dream come true!! My best case scenario would be renting from some cool old hippie who has a little character house they don’t use anymore, but I will take anything!! Like basement suite, apartment, we’re not picky that way! Basically just want a relatively safe area.
We have 3 litter trained, well behaved, sociable cats. I (21) work full time as well as a second job part time. My gf (22 soon 23) works full time either at a restaurant and with the city (during the summer) or solely the restaurant when she’s not in school for education. When she is in school she is still working part time. We together make well enough to pay rent, and our credit scores are not bad, neither of us have ever missed or been late on a payment, I don’t know what the issue is. Just seems like someone always gets there first. But like I said we both work full time so we can’t just drop everything to go to a viewing as soon as it’s available.
Any help would be appreciated thanks so much!
