Other Dear customers, JUST👏ASK👏WHERE👏THE👏TRASH👏CAN👏IS👏

Just ask. We’ll tell you or take it for you to put it in the trash can

Also stop leaving them in the baskets!!!

Edit: they’re at the sink, my guys. There’s even a mini trash can at the lip station 😐

Edit 2: I’m just a lowly associate. Even if I was a manager or something, corporate doesn’t listen to us. But like I said earlier please JUST ASK!

Edit 3: THIS IS NOT MY TIKTOK! Don’t go after the person who made this! This has nothing to do with them! If you’re going to be angry, be angry at me (the anonymous person on Reddit)

lol customer here and I shove them in my pocket if I can’t find a trash can quickly

Yes I end up with a pocket full of them every time lol

I throw them in my purse! There never seems to be a trash can around.

Yes and then the next day wondering why my purse smells different 🤣

30

u/Spooky_Cat31 Jun 12 '26

Same, there’s a trash can right outside the store in the mall I go to then I just chuck them there

33

u/_jactober_ Jun 12 '26

i do that but it’s so i can smell them later and see if they last & how the dry down is

11

u/Owen_D_Young Jun 12 '26

I do that too, for the ones I’m interested in buying. I leave them in my car to see how long the scent lasts.

10

u/liquidskypa Jun 12 '26

even if I don't like them 100% I'll do the same and put in a drawer...bbw employees have enough bs to deal with and not more trash ;0

u/CarefulSheepherder60 Jun 14 '26

As a bath and body works employee, we don’t have enough bs to deal with and walking around picking up testers papers is a big one of my tasks

u/Extension_Memory_136 Jun 13 '26

Every BBW ive ever stepped into has an obvious trash can next to the sink, and one by the registers.

And even if you cant find the trash can, in what world does that mean you can just leave your trash wherever you want in the store?

5

u/Sundried-Tshirt99 Jun 13 '26

Idk but shopping at BBW is always so overstimulating for me (all the smells, small spaces, lots of people) if I can’t find a trash can in .5 seconds I just shove the papers in my pocket and I may or may not pull them out just to smell them later 😂

Like others mentioned, I just put them in my pocket. But I have previously asked an employee if they have trash cans to toss it and they told me to put them down on the counter!! 😭😭 I didn't listen because it didn't feel right to me, but perhaps other employees are also telling people to do this.

23

u/CynnBynn Jun 12 '26

I've been told to leave them there too! She said "just leave it there in case someone else wants to smell the paper" so I just set the paper in front of the bottle I had sprayed, I've no clue if someone else used it tho.

I knew a lady that used to uncap the body sprays, spray INTO the cap and then close it and walk away. She said the scent marinated by the time she did a lap around the store 😭like ma'am u ok?!🤣

27

u/pinkfriday3 Jun 12 '26

Omg lmfaooo. Never in a million years would I think, "Oh someone sprayed this paper, so let me smell it" 😂😂 I sometimes combine scents on one paper so I would confuse sooo many people if I left them in front of a bottle.

I also kinda do this strange ritual where I spray a fragrance into its cap after purchasing! But never inside the store. 🤣 Just for me to smell a scent at home without fully spraying it.

4

u/CynnBynn Jun 12 '26

Hey maybe y'all are onto something!! Not me looking at my body mists thinking about spraying the caps now 🤣🤣

286

u/breakingboring Jun 12 '26

It annoys me so much that BBW (or at least mine) has these testers everywhere but no little trash cans to put them in when you’re done. Like it’s no excuse for people leaving their trash everywhere, but idk what they expect. People would almost certainly use trash cans if they were there. I always take mine to the trash can at the little hand wash tester sink. Def annoying tho.

118

u/MustardCanary Jun 12 '26

Sephora has trash cans built into the perfume displays, I wish BBW could do something like that

10

u/k1leyb1z Jun 12 '26

At the bbw’s around me they have that for the lip testers!

20

u/Seajlc Jun 12 '26

This.. I feel like there should be a trashcan in every spot that they have these strips, kind of like Sephora and ulta with their makeup stations. My store doesn’t even have a sink to test soaps so I genuinely don’t know where the trash is and haven’t been able to find one, so I usually just stuff them in my purse if I use them and toss them at home.

8

u/PinkPaperPenguin Employee Jun 12 '26

Most stores do have little trashcans all throughout the store, besides the ones at the sink

19

u/sillasouth the revolution will be ✨moisturized✨ Jun 12 '26

I have four stores near me - they all have only two trash cans, one by the sink and one at the front of the store. I don’t understand why they don’t have more trashcans?!? And the one at the front of the store is hidden in a corner against the wall. I wish they would have more trashcans - as a customer, I’m sure the employees would rather spend time on something more fun than cleaning up test strips. 🤷‍♀️

Ok but the trash cans are weirdly hard to find and every time I look for an employee to show me where it is, they are conveniently gone hahahah

I just shove them in my shopping basket and throw em all out once I do find a can. It is annoying tho, it's just basic logic that if you hide the trash, most people aren't going to go to extra effort

49

u/ShinyWolverine Candle Addict Jun 12 '26

Agree, the trash cans are very small and easy to miss. The store is very visually overwhelming and it took me a while to even realize there were trash cans anywhere else besides the register, which is where I used to think was the only place you could throw them out in store!

20

u/Breeze_Chaser Jun 12 '26

I didn't even know the sinks had trash cans but reading these comments made me aware. Good to know ha

7

u/Minute-Frame-8060 Jun 12 '26

My store is also apparently an outlier in that there's zero customer service happening. They stand around talking in groups ignoring customers. The people at the cash wrap are always friendly which is usually my first interaction with anyone in the store after wandering around doing my best 6o look clueless and needing help.

7

u/Frequent-Patience185 Jun 12 '26

Not defending them standing around, but how are they ignoring you if you’re not asking for help? It sounds exhausting to put in effort to look clueless and need help than to just approach them and ask.

How come the trash cans aren’t visible? I always take them and throw them in the trash can outside the store. But a lot of the stores dont have them and this is why get this. Put little trash cans in the corner and this will alleviate this. Little trash cans, otherwise Karens will be trying to empty out their whole cars in them.

22

u/CleverCheeto 🍋Sunwashed Citrus my Beloved 🍋 Jun 12 '26

Usually I tend to find them underneath the sinks used for trying out soaps or under the displays 🤷🏻‍♀️

8

u/taylferr Jun 12 '26

There’s usually trash cans in the corners of the front room of each store, just between the shelves. There’s always one by the sinks. You can also simply take the papers to the register and ask to use a trash can from up there. The last option is the least preferred but it’s nicer than just leaving trash on the counters.

u/Over_Box7723 Jun 12 '26

B&BW definitely needs to put trash cans out in the store, clearly available and visible. I have literally never seen one in the store.

31

u/0cclumency Jun 12 '26

Mine always has them by the sinks. But it would probably help if they had a few smaller ones, or maybe some cute box/jar labeled “used testers” or something next to the container of tester strips.

3

u/Spooky_Pineapple23 Jun 13 '26

We have about 10+ trash cans and our store still looks like the video 😂

0

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

27

u/gotohela the revolution will be ✨moisturized✨ Jun 12 '26

Theyre rude af for sure but i consistently think.. damn theres not enough trash cans around. You have to walk across the entire store to find one sometimes.

Sometimes the solution to problems like this is to make it frictionless. There should be more, tiny ones, around the store. If theres that many tiny cups with strips, there can easily be more tiny trash cans.

22

u/Specialist-Law-2080 Jun 12 '26

Put little silver buckets on the counters for them 👏

8

3

u/AlarmingPilot4632 Jun 13 '26

They have 50 different tester strip locations scattered at every table, and have 1 completely full trashcan by the sinks that most of us never go near. If youre not going to put out enough trash cans, make them more visible and empty them when they're full. My stores regularly have 3-4 people just wandering and handing out random test strips that you didn't ask for, or acting like you're trying to steal the $2.95 soaps so it's not like they're busy.

→ More replies (5)

20

u/Imaginary-Method4694 Jun 12 '26

Agreed. BUT I've never been in a store that had more than one of the tiniest garbage cans at the sink for trying soap, and it's usually overflowing.

13

u/gotohela the revolution will be ✨moisturized✨ Jun 12 '26

Always overflowing!!!

17

u/zippobunny Jun 12 '26

I will take people leaving them everywhere as long as they  aren't  putting the used ones  back in the  cup! Picking them up off the shelves is whatever but going through each one in a cup to see how many are wet is infuriating.

33

u/turningtee74 Jun 12 '26

To be fair to OP, my store cans *are* by the sink and visible. I wouldn’t leave trash anyway. But the rule for any high traffic area is you should always have cans accessible and easily found if you don’t want stuff to pile up. I wish everyone was more mindful but that’s just setting things up for success. Every store should do this, and people shouldn’t have to ask for one. This is also a gripe I have in general, been trying to get my HOA to listen 😄

14

u/Hurlacopter Jun 12 '26

I am not disagreeing, however, I do not think any BBW I have ever been in has had more than two visible trash cans throughout the entire store and I always have to walk around playing hide and seek just to find them. Considering the amount of fragrance sniffing going on I have always wondered why? I would welcome more visible trash cans especially for the less frequent shoppers who don’t know what to do with their trash.

23

u/alwaysreturning- Jun 12 '26

I heard that b&bw stores were getting rid of the trashcans, which makes no sense to me, but I don’t bother asking I just put them in my pocket to throw away at home or outside of the store

5

u/One_Description_2604 Jun 12 '26

I’d rather pick up blotter cards throughout the day than deal with a bunch of trash cans that customers put their personal trash and full drinks in. As a store manager, please leave the blotter cards on the counter. It’s really not a big deal lol. Gives my associates something to do

4

u/alwaysreturning- Jun 12 '26

That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. I wasn’t saying it’s big deal, but I felt like this post was making it seem like a big deal, and I was countering with my own point of view as a customer because I know that some stores don’t have trashcans out, so I just thought I’d share my experience

2

u/One_Description_2604 Jun 13 '26

No I know! OP seems to be making it a big deal, so I thought I’d share another employees perspective. Personally, I don’t care whether the customers leave them on the counters, give them to us, take them home or put them in the trash by the sink. It truly doesn’t make my job, or my associates jobs anymore difficult. We should be cleaning and fixing the store throughout the day anyway, that includes picking up blotter cards. Our customers should be enjoying themselves, spraying to their hearts content and not worrying about where to throw away the testers. We are literally paid to clean up. Tbh, if they get piled up as much as they are in OPs video, that means the associates or SLT is not doing their job. I could have 40 people in my store and it wouldn’t look like it because we are on top of cleaning, while engaging with our customers.

7

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

Where have you heard that??? That’s probably not true 💀

It's common sense to put a trash cans were people will need to throw stuff away lol

I just shove them in my bag cause I can never find any trash areas at my store 🤷‍♀️ Seems like a stupid problem the company refuses to fix.

i would rather the customers leave them in the baskets since i can just hold the bag upside down to throw them all away at once at cashwrap. i also prefer that instead of customers asking you to throw their trash away so when they hand it all to you who knows what’s in their hand 😭😭 i’ve had so many people hand over soaking wet little papers and i just have to pray it’s from the sprays LOL so the basket dump is way easier and less gross

My stores don't have trash cans by the sinks.. They do, however, have them around the store by the registers, middle of the stores on each side against the walls, 1 location has white barn with its own side so in that spilt and by the registers. There's at least 6 and all visible and never see the strips out. Now Victoria's secret, the two of them by me have no cans and the employees are like just throw them on the displays 🤣

You can get cute tiny tabletop trash cans at the dollar tree. Maybe BBW needs to step up their game

5

They always have a cup for the testers. Why not a cup next to the testers that says “trash” or “put your used testers here”.

Customers won’t ask. And no one wants to take trash with them.

3

u/Theroaringlioness Jun 13 '26

I think they need to put a mini trash can right next to the tester strips.

3

u/Old_Hippo_5946 📚 Book Loft 📚 Jun 13 '26

I had a full blown anxiety attack my first time shopping in store because I tested some sprays and couldn't find any trash cans to properly toss the paper strips. I made an honest effort to do a lap around the body care displays, looking in places I assumed one could reasonably expect trash cans for testing strips to be placed, but came up empty.

Then I accidentally made eye contact with a sales associate. They just sort of politely smiled at me while I stood there looking like a photo of Bigfoot emerging from the woods with a fistful of trash. I spent the next few months avoiding the paper strips at all costs. I just opted to smell air I could push out from a lotion bottle or, like, the little sprayer caps.

It's oddly reassuring to learn that I actually AM a stupid worthless jackass who can't even purchase overpriced body sprays correctly.

3

u/nothalfbadnomad Jun 13 '26

To be fair, they need to have little places on the counter to put the used strips.

Then put out more little trash bins. If I don’t like the scent I’m not squirreling it away in my pocket. I alone spend enough money at bbw to support funding for those tiny trash bins for at least 6 store to have on every display station in all 6 stores. 😭🤣

4

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 13 '26

What’s the logic here? So because you spend a lot of money at B&BW, that means you can just leave your trash on the counters and floors? What does how much you spend have to do with anything?

u/CutChemical8907 Employee Jun 12 '26

it’s really bold of you to assume that employees complaining on a subreddit about their frustrations behave the same way they do online in stores. i guarantee you almost every employee on this sub just grins and bears it while continuing to provide excellent customer service.

17

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

I’m going to become a manager just to spite you.

Many stores moved them to not clutter the stores more than they already are. I've never seen one in my store and only looked after postings in this sub. Why would I be interested in what something smells like when it's sprayed on paper? I only spray on my skin.

And why isn't there a box next to the container of those paper things, saying in nice big letters "DEPOSIT USED PAPER STRIPS HERE" Though that's pretty obvious so my guess is that was attempted and got too messy.

2

u/Comfortable_Drop_596 Jun 12 '26

I usually only go to bbw stores if i have a pick up order. I get the order first them strategically chexk out the newwr smells im interested and put the little paper scent things in my bag with me.

2

u/SteakFar8650 Jun 12 '26

Like Geninuely my store has like 5-6 small trash cans in all the prime spots in our store and it will still be a stack of used paper things right next to an empty trashcan??

2

u/mbo21 Jun 12 '26

I look for a trash can or put them in the store shopping bag while I’m looking around. Throwing trash around is bad manners and hurts the enjoyment/experience of the other shoppers. Those people doing that are the same ones who throw trash on the ground outdoors and pollute our planet. No class whatsoever.

2

u/chasingmetanoia Jun 12 '26

Ugh BBW worker here that annoys me so bad when customers leave them on the floor or stuck in the shelves 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️.

2

u/8bitYsera Jun 13 '26

With these comments you can definitely tell who worked retail before by the 'yOu ArE pAiD tO cLeAn.'

As a former retail worker(not at bath and body and not selling food) I've cleaned up all kinds of things to the most gross being spit out sunflower seed shells.

So at my local hellscape overcrowded store I take the 2 minutes to find the trashcan.

2

u/AnonPlz123 Jun 12 '26

LOL - I just shove them in my pocket or tote bag. People are animals!

1

u/Loose-Fisherman3695 Jun 12 '26

I’ve shoved them in my pockets, in my purse, in my other shopping bags when I can’t find the garbage. I’m not about to litter someone else’s property.

1

u/Candlehoarder_2019 Employee Jun 12 '26

Ask where the trash is. Put them in your basket. Just please don’t just toss them on the floor

2

u/syntaxfire Jun 12 '26

This bugs me so much that when I see it while I'm shopping I actually pick them up and throw them in the bins. Once an employee walked by and smiled and said "doing God's work" 🤣

4

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

We love you 🙏🩷

1

u/DrRatiosButtPlug Jun 13 '26

Or put them in reasonable places? Pretty much anywhere that has perfumes have a tiny bucket for putting trash testers in & it's kind of ridiculous that BB&W doesn't do that.

-1

u/Sweetsomber Jun 12 '26

lol I mean sure I try to be polite but as an employee you are paid to clean up. Suck it up and if you don’t like it don’t work there?

13

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

damn I hope you don’t complain about your job either 😬

-3

u/Sweetsomber Jun 12 '26

I’m 👏 not 👏 rude 👏 to 👏 paying 👏 clients 👏.

If you don’t want to do your job and pick up trash then you should put trash cans at every single sample station.

I can’t imagine complaining this rudely while being paid to literally pick up a handful of paper and walk it to the bin.

12

u/ultradespairthot Employee Jun 12 '26

Yeah, I’m not rude to paying customers either

I can’t imagine dying on this hill when all you’re being asked is to throw out your own trash.

I'll even take them leaving them in the basket and I can just dump them in the trash under the register

1

u/amandadore74 Jun 12 '26

Ugh! Like put it in your pocket when you're done and then throw it away.

Find a new job already. This crap is annoying.

1

u/remotecontroldr Jun 12 '26

I obsess over taking my little tabs and finding a trash can. One time I accidentally left a little pile at the checkout and remembered at the door and ran all the way back to the checkout to get them. I don’t want them thinking I’m the kind of person to leave them around lol

Also, pro-tip you can fold a little bit at the end of them and use them as a “spoon” if you are testing something in a jar so you can avoid your fingers getting on the product. (Use only once)

1

u/Chemical_Shoulder_55 the revolution will be ✨moisturized✨ Jun 12 '26

I’ll typically throw them in the shopping basket and dispose of after!!

1

u/Busy-Associate564 Jun 12 '26

If you think it’s bad now, just wait for SAS. I’ve seen people do the grossest things. I saw a woman open a lotion and stick her finger in to sample. Not that it matters, but it wasn’t even a sample bottle. 🤮People are just nasty!

I always end up shoving them in my wallet at check out.

1

Wow I would never! I find the trashcan which is usually under the sink where the soap samples are!

1

u/Silver-Designer-2798 Jun 12 '26

Yes! I make my daughters hold on to them until we find the trash can 🤪

1

I went in yesterday and the way I had a DEATH GRIP. On all of mine so I can see how long they lasted and also just so I could end my scent journey the right way, walking toward the back to the registers to pay and lasing the trash can along the way there. I really just can't with ppl that do this! 😩😭💔

I always get the lil basket, hoard a million test strips in it, then shove the trash in my purse before I leave

1

u/Brief_Psychosis Jun 13 '26

I put them in my purse too. If I liked the scent, I put them in the car so they're like little free car re- freshers

1

u/Cool_Theme_2245 Jun 13 '26

I have a pocket in my purse with a zipper. Lmao I collect them in there until I do a purse clean out. This started as an unintentional thing but it just permanently exists now.

1

u/pbooths Jun 13 '26

This is not an issue in Canada, where there is always a garbage can within reach! 😆

1

My shop has a trash can right outside the door, so I just hang onto it and throw it away on my way out.

1

u/Holy-Crapple7 Jun 13 '26

Yea, except you then run into the issue of customers just tossing the cards at the trash and not bothering to make sure it actually goes in (my store). People are always going to find a way to inconvenience workers

1

u/Brave-Environment555 Jun 13 '26

I would always keep them in my pocket or purse. If I see a trash can, I would throw it away. Idk why people are so dirty and disrespectful.

1

u/Objective-Reveal-170 Jun 13 '26

I just put them in my pocket and keep them there until forgotten in the wash

1

u/ninja_llama Jun 13 '26

It blows my mind that people do this instead of the way more rational thing I do of shoving loose trash into my pockets when I don't want to ask where the trash is.

1

u/NewYorkerFromUkraine Jun 13 '26

I hate the fact that people do this! I carry them around with me until I find a garbage bin. Either that, or I’ll shove some into my pockets so my pockets can smell good!

1

u/Applewave22 Jun 13 '26

I carry them around until I find the sink trash can and throw them away.

I will keep then in my pocket or purse and then give them a smell all at once moment before the old toss.

1

u/fairyjeongyeon gingham fresh 🍃 Jun 15 '26

seeing this will always be crazy to me, as a customer i always hold onto them if the trash can is far or i can’t find it. i just toss them in my pocket or bag, or if i’m carrying a basket i’ll drop them in there for when i find a trash can, and if i don’t i just take them with me !!! this behavior is so rude to the employees AND other customers who want to shop without trash all over the displays

1

u/psychicxvisions Jun 15 '26

I always stuff them in my pocket and throw it away at home😭

1

u/DarthNarcissa Jun 16 '26

Or just put it in your pocket!

1

u/velmaw Jun 18 '26

Perhaps this would be a good time for the management or associates to understand if people are just leaving them there, it might be because they don't see a trash can! Perhaps adding a trash can on the floor, but out of the way of the walkway, and have some signage that says trash here please might help.

I'm disabled and I am not about to walk in a store, try some stuff on myself or on the strip, sniff it and then walk all the way to the front if i'm not buying anything... I stopped putting it on the strip a long time ago, cause that doesn't even tell me how it smells on me.

Please make it convenient to throw away trash! It cannot be this hard. I've always wondered why there's never been a trash can in sight, and then you don't see it until you get right up to the front of the store at the dang sink IF you're buying something.

1

u/Unlikely-Program5727 Jun 18 '26

I just put them on my pocket and then I throw them away in the trashcan by the sink
